Chapter 194 Conquest of the Southern Frontier

Chapter 194 Conquest of the Southern Frontier

Soon, the gnolls stood arrogantly opposite the goblin camp. Seeing the hostile arrivals, the goblin leader stepped forward and shouted at Yorick, who was standing not far away: "You corpse-eating bastards, what are you doing here? Tired of living? Or do you want a taste of my club? Come on over if you dare, I'll make sure you get what you want!"

Yorick brandished his spiked club and grinned wickedly, “You goblin bastards, over the years you have repeatedly kicked my people when they were down, causing my people to wander around and become more and more destitute. Today I’m here to settle the score with you!”

The goblin chieftain pointed at the gnolls behind Yorick and sneered, "With just your numbers? Are you still asleep? Get them!"

As they spoke, the bear goblins drew their weapons and charged at the jackal men. Unlike their short goblin relatives, the bear goblins were enormous, covered in thick, wild-looking fur, and resembled standing grizzly bears, hence the name 'bear goblin'.

The bear goblins are a savage race, born for battle and rebellion, known for plundering and bullying the weak. They do not engage in any production and live by enslaving and plundering groups weaker than themselves. The scavenging tribes were their frequent targets.

However, the goblins miscalculated this time. Thanks to the magic of Argred, the gnolls were now physically stronger than the goblins. Coupled with their superior equipment and well-organized army formation, the goblins were pierced through by the gnolls' spears as soon as they charged in. The pierced goblins were then finished off by the gnolls behind them and thrown onto the pile of corpses as spoils of war and provisions for the future.

The gnoll phalanx was like a meat grinder, efficiently killing the surging goblin bears. Seeing the situation was not good, the goblin bear leader immediately ordered, "Don't scatter! All of you, come with me!" With that, he stepped into the fray, wielding his wooden club and charging towards the gnoll ranks.

To be honest, a single squad of archers could easily break through a gnoll phalanx, but in this barbaric land teeming with monsters, how could such advanced troops be found? Excellent ranged units have always been a precious resource, regardless of the era.

So the goblins could only tear the gnolls' formation apart with their own flesh and blood. Under the enemy's relentless charge, the gnolls quickly lost their formation and were scattered by the swarming goblins. At this moment, the battle officially began, and everyone began to fight to the death.

However, the goblin tribe had already lost nearly half of its forces in the previous battles, and now it no longer had an absolute advantage in numbers. Meanwhile, the gnolls fought with increasing ferocity, and seeing bloodshed, the gnolls were now bloodthirsty. The goblin tribe was quickly suppressed and forced to retreat.

The goblin chieftain, who had just dealt with a gnoll, was having second thoughts. Just as he was about to order a retreat, Yorick suddenly arrived, wielding a spiked club. Yorick struck the goblin chieftain in the chest with the club, shouting, "You killed our brother and you think you can run away! You'll stay here today!"

The goblin chieftain hurriedly raised his club to parry Yorick's attack, but Yorick's terrifying strength, combined with the iron nails on his mace, shattered the goblin chieftain's wooden club and smashed it into his chest.

The goblin chieftain was instantly blinded by the blow and forced to retreat. He took a deep breath to recover, as the blow had almost made him gasp for air and collapse to the ground. But Yorick had no intention of letting him off so easily. Before the goblin chieftain could regain his footing, he attacked his head again with his spiked club.

This time, the goblin chieftain had no time to react. A terrifying cracking sound and the splattering of blood echoed between heaven and earth. With this blow, half of the goblin chieftain's head was smashed open, and he died without any hope of recovery.

Yorick then hoisted the mangled body of the goblin chieftain, shouting and boasting of his victory. Seeing their leader dead, the other goblins dropped their weapons and scattered. The gnolls relentlessly pursued them. Yorick immediately ordered a retreat, restraining the gnolls who had gone mad. After all, as the saying goes, one should not pursue a desperate enemy. The gnoll race had just begun to gain strength, and any unnecessary fighting and losses were pointless.

The gnolls quickly calmed down under Yorick's leadership. They then took over the goblin camp, rested for a while, and had the goblin corpses for dinner. Yorick then organized the camp's supplies to return to Argrede and report back.

But at that moment, Otto, carrying Warwick and his Chimera troops, descended from the sky and crashed in front of Yorick. After landing, Otto shouted to Yorick: "Relay the Lord's order! The Dragon Tooth Tribe has completed the military order. My Lord is overjoyed and now orders us to assist the Gnoll Tribe in unifying the Southern Wilderness within a year!"

Yorick immediately knelt down and shouted in response, "Yorik, obey my command!"

In the days that followed, blood and fire engulfed the entire Southern Frontier. A dragon beast with the physique of an adult dragon (referring to Otto), a mutated jackal with purple fur, and a giant werewolf with a pure white body led their monsters and slaughtered their way across the Southern Frontier.

They wiped out countless ferocious beast lairs and drove out or enslaved countless intelligent creatures. In just half a year, Yorick's gnoll army had taken control of most of the southern border. But then a powerful clan stood in the way of the invincible Dragontooth tribe, becoming the biggest obstacle to their unification of the southern border. And the name of this clan was 'Trolls'!

Trolls are a truly unique and peculiar race in the multiverse. They mostly possess terrifying regenerative abilities and average around four meters in height, making them truly massive. Trolls are typically tall, lean, and muscular, with a bizarre appearance—long ears like elves, facial features like orcs, and enormous fangs. Their long arms, powerful legs, and rapid reflexes make them skilled hunters. They have only three fingers and two toes on each side, a body structure perfectly suited for melee combat.

What's most terrifying about trolls is their regenerative ability to regrow severed limbs and their extremely high resistance to poison. They are also very resistant to cold, so the best way to deal with them is with fire and special weapons that suppress their self-healing.

Yorick originally intended to have the chimeras burn these beasts to ashes, but he never expected that the trolls of the Southern Frontier would redefine his understanding of trolls as simple-minded giants. This troll clan had about three hundred ogres and forty manticores under their command. The ogres were not too bad, but the manticores were flying beasts comparable to chimeras. The manticores' huge tails not only carried deadly venom but could also spray out venomous stingers from their tails when necessary. Usually, each manticore could launch sixteen venomous stingers at once. In the resource-scarce Southern Frontier, the manticores were undoubtedly the enemy that no tribe wanted to face the most.
