Chapter 603: True and False
Chapter 603: True and False
Gongsun Zhan’s eyes widened. Zuo Fengqiu was formidable in his eyes, so the fact that Diwu Baiyu intended to finish him with a single punch left Gongsun Zhan utterly stunned.
Lin Kuang, on the other hand, was much calmer. He had seen Diwu Baiyu in action before and knew his power was so terrifying that his movements were a complete blur. Now that Diwu Baiyu had made his claim, Lin Kuang naturally believed him without reservation.
As Zuo Fengqiu charged forward, Diwu Baiyu’s slowly rising fist finally shot out. In an instant, his punch landed squarely on Zuo Fengqiu’s fist, which was wreathed in black Qi.
The impact was completely silent.
Zuo Fengqiu’s expression twisted in horror as his right arm went limp. Immediately after, his entire body seemed to liquefy, collapsing into a boneless heap on the ground. The sight was both terrifying and shocking. Even Lin Kuang, who already knew something of Diwu Baiyu’s strength, was stunned.
As a Martial Artist, Lin Kuang knew exactly what this meant. To do this with a single punch... there’s only one possibility. His strike must have pulverized every bone in Zuo Fengqiu’s body, turning them to dust. There’s no other way.
Gongsun Zhan swallowed hard, his gaze filled with a mixture of horror and utter shock. He had never imagined Diwu Baiyu could be so devastatingly powerful; this level of strength was beyond his wildest imagination. I doubt anyone in the Gongsun Family is this strong...
"So... so strong," Gongsun Zhan murmured, completely stunned. Lin Kuang wasn’t much better, standing frozen in place as he stared.
Diwu Baiyu scoffed dismissively. "Overconfident fool. You wanted to kill me with that paltry strength?" Don’t mistake a quiet tiger for a housecat.
"Alright, that’s settled," Diwu Baiyu said, turning to face Lin Kuang and Gongsun Zhan. Seeing their dazed expressions, he couldn’t help but smile. "Don’t look at me like that. One day, you two will have the same strength I do now, and maybe even surpass me."
His voice was gentle, yet it carried a sliver of True Qi that instantly jolted Lin Kuang and Gongsun Zhan from their stupor.
Having regained his senses, Lin Kuang bowed deeply. "Thank you for saving us, Senior."
Gongsun Zhan quickly followed suit, also bowing respectfully. "Thank you, Senior Diwu."
"Alright, no need for such formalities," Diwu Baiyu said with a smile. "Young Gongsun, you should head back first. I have some things to discuss with Lin Kuang."
Gongsun Zhan nodded eagerly. "Of course, Senior Diwu. I’ll take my leave. Please, visit us when you have time. The Gongsun Family would be honored to host you."
"Hmm, perhaps I will. I might go see those old fellows if I get the chance," Diwu Baiyu replied with a smile.
Gongsun Zhan nodded once more, then turned his gaze to Lin Kuang. "Next time, we fight again!"
With that, he turned and departed without a backward glance.
Lin Kuang simply smiled without saying anything. He’s a decent opponent. But I’m confident I’ll still win the next time we meet. Because I am Lin Kuang!
"You’re lucky I arrived when I did, lad," Diwu Baiyu said with a smile, glancing at Lin Kuang. "Otherwise, you’d be dead."
Lin Kuang nodded quickly. "Yes, thank you, Senior. Without you, I wouldn’t have survived." He spoke with genuine respect, as it was the truth. As powerful as Lin Kuang was, his youth was a clear disadvantage. Against a man like Zuo Fengqiu, he truly would have stood no chance.
"Hmm. I know you have many questions," Diwu Baiyu said with a smile. "Like why I’m here, or why the Nameless old man gave you that sword. Am I right?"
Lin Kuang nodded vigorously. "Yes! Those are exactly my questions. Senior, can you please explain?" He looked at Diwu Baiyu, desperate for answers.
"That’s precisely why I came—to tell you," Diwu Baiyu said. "It was the Nameless old man who told me where to find you."
Lin Kuang was confused. "What? But isn’t the Nameless old man dead? Zuo Fengqiu just said he killed him."
Diwu Baiyu scoffed. "Hmph. Kill the Nameless old man? With Zuo Fengqiu’s meager skills? That’s a pipe dream.
"Never mind how much strength that old fellow has hidden away, his Heavenly Machine Technique alone is more than most people can handle. He can sense and avoid danger before it ever arrives. Even I’m not confident I could kill him, so what chance would a piece of trash like Zuo Fengqiu have?
"I suspect the old man let it happen deliberately; otherwise, Zuo Fengqiu could never have touched him.
"Anyway, you can rest easy. Anyone else might die, but that old geezer won’t. In fact, he’ll probably outlive everyone. I can’t even begin to fathom the depths of his power, and when you add in his Heavenly Machine Technique... how could he possibly die?" he finished, clearly vexed with the Nameless old man.
Lin Kuang could only nod in response.
Seeing this, Diwu Baiyu continued, "The Nameless old man didn’t tell me you were here personally. He sent a messenger to Yanjing, which is why I rushed over. I have other business to attend to as well.
"Furthermore, take good care of the Nameless Sword. It is vital to you. As for the reason, the old man wasn’t very clear. He only said that the time isn’t right.
"But he did say this: ’As long as the sword exists, so does the man. If the sword is destroyed, the man will perish.’ In short, you can never be parted from this sword. You must remember that."
Diwu Baiyu cautioned him with a solemn gaze. Lin Kuang nodded vigorously, though he was disappointed to still have no idea why the Nameless old man had given him the Nameless Sword.
"Well, that’s all I came to tell you. I need to see to my own affairs now. Perhaps we’ll meet again." With that, Diwu Baiyu turned to leave.
"Thank you, Senior. Take care," Lin Kuang said quickly, bowing slightly.
Diwu Baiyu had only taken a few steps when he stopped. "Oh, and one more thing. The old man said he’ll come to see you again when the time is right."
