Chapter 156 Chaos
Chapter 156 Chaos
"Get out of my way! You're blocking my way!"
A burly man knocked a tall, thin man to the ground, cursing incessantly as he stepped over the thin man without hesitation.
The tall, thin man groaned in pain, his face turning red. He angrily grabbed the fat man's leg and yanked him, causing the fat man to lose his balance and fall heavily onto the solid brick floor.
Without giving him a chance to catch his breath, the tall, thin man quickly stood up and slid a sharp iron awl, about the thickness of a finger, from his sleeve. With a soft thud, the awl pierced the fat man's neck.
Blood gushed out instantly. At that moment, the tall, thin man seemed to have taken a stimulant and became even more excited, swinging his hand holding the iron awl again and again.
The burly man was already a bloody mess and lifeless. The people around him watched indifferently, as if it were commonplace. They couldn't even be bothered to scream at such a horrific and bloody scene.
Some even whistled and cheered, as if they were applauding him.
"Since you're in such a hurry, I'll send you to hell then. Once you're dead, you won't be in such a rush anymore, hahahaha—"
However, the tall, thin man's laughter stopped abruptly the next second. His head rolled to the ground, and his body fell straight down like a felled tree.
A soft, delicate voice rang out, its tone tinged with annoyance.
"How disgusting! It's so dirty and an eyesore."
The woman frowned slightly, her eyes filled with disgust, and she was holding a blood-dripping axe in her hand.
The people around burst into laughter. Someone kicked the head that had rolled to the ground away and then joked, "You didn't want to get dirty, so why did you do this?"
"If you want to cut someone, just say so. Stop making excuses and reasons."
"Are you fucking looking for death?!" The woman angrily swung the axe in her hand at the person who spoke.
The man barely dodged, an act that ignited his anger. "Damn it, you're asking for it!" He pulled out a knife from his waist and walked towards the woman.
Similar conflicts occurred one after another among the crowd, with even a minor scratch on the hem of a garment leading to an argument.
"My God, is this the North Twilight Base? This is hell on earth, a city of sin!"
Zhou Cheng stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Based on the location, the three arrived near the North Dusk Base and witnessed the riot before they even got close.
A base meant to house survivors had no protection against zombies, and the gates were wide open, allowing people to come and go as they pleased.
It is unknown whether this group of people are residents of the North Dusk Base or outsiders.
Cang Xingyue withdrew her gaze: "Let's go in and take a look."
The three teleported past the fighting and killing crowd and entered the base.
Upon entering the base, the stench of blood, mixed with the smell of decay, hit you immediately.
Bloodstains, both dried and fresh, were scattered everywhere on the ground. Several enormous corpses lay beside the trash cans, maggots wriggling around them, and swarms of flies hovering above them.
"Ugh—" Zhou Cheng vomited uncontrollably.
Cang Xingyue raised her hand to cover her mouth and nose, but it was still difficult to resist the stench.
Lu Siyan frowned, took Cang Xingyue's hand, and at the same time grabbed Zhou Chengyin by the collar and quickly teleported away.
"Hey bro, could you please stop grabbing my collar next time? Don't tear my newly mended clothes again."
To express his apology, Lu Siyan used his supernatural ability to repair the clothes that had been torn before he arrived.
"I'll fix it if it breaks, why are you making so much noise? Do you expect me, a grown man, to hold your hand if I don't grab your collar?"
Lu Siyan shook off his collar, somewhat speechless.
Zhou Chengyin raised an eyebrow: "It's not impossible."
"Are you looking for a beating?" Lu Siyan grabbed Zhou Chengyin's collar again.
Cang Xingyue shook her head helplessly, ignoring their bickering, and began to look around.
The street is lined with residential houses, so you should see some residents passing by, but strangely, the street is empty and there isn't a single pedestrian in sight.
Just when she thought the place was uninhabited, a closed door opened and a woman walked out. She was wearing a gray robe and a veil of the same color on her face.
She looked around cautiously, and when her gaze met that of Cang Xingyue who was looking at her, she quickly retreated back into the house. After a while, she reopened the door, hesitated for a moment, and then went out into the house.
After leaving the house, she walked quickly, glancing back warily from time to time.
This series of unusual events piqued Cang Xingyue's curiosity, and she followed after her, wanting to ask her what was going on.
The woman quickened her pace after noticing she was being followed, and then looked back frequently in a flustered manner.
Could she be mistaking her for a bad person?
Thinking of this, Cang Xingyue stopped in her tracks.
"Please wait a moment, I..."
Before she could finish explaining, a man suddenly rushed out from the side and blocked her way.
"Hey, where are you going in such a hurry? Are you rushing to get into your brother's arms?"
The woman shuddered in fright and turned to flee in terror, as if she had seen a raging flood or a ferocious beast.
"Damn it, you still dare to run away."
The man, his face contorted with rage, spat on the ground. He quickly caught up with her, grabbed her by the neck, and dragged her into an empty alley.
"Help--"
The woman struggled to pull at the restraints around her neck, managing to let out a weak cry for help. She looked at Cang Xingyue, her eyes filled with pleading and expectation, as if saying: Please save me...
Before being dragged into the alley, she reached out, desperately trying to grasp at a sliver of hope.
Knowing what would happen if the woman were dragged into the alley, Cang Xingyue didn't hesitate for a moment and immediately teleported there.
"You're acting all mysterious. Let your brother see what kind of face is hidden under your veil." The man grinned maliciously and ripped off the woman's veil.
"Hey, not bad looking. It was worth the wait. I can finally have some fun."
"Get away from me!" the woman struggled desperately.
The man ignored her pleas, pinned the woman to the ground, and reached out to tear off her clothes.
Before he could even touch her collar, Cang Xingyue, who had arrived at the scene, kicked him away.
Didn't you hear me tell you to get out of here?
Cang Xingyue stood in front of the woman, her cold gaze sweeping over the man lying on the ground.
"Damn it, which blind fool ruined my good deed!" The man gritted his teeth and slammed his fist on the ground, then pushed himself up with his hands and pulled out a small knife from his pocket.
"I'll kill you!"
He turned around and was stunned for a moment when he saw Cang Xingyue. His gaze darted back and forth between the woman on the ground and Cang Xingyue's face, finally settling on Cang Xingyue's face.
He gave a lewd smile: "This little girl's got some strength." He stretched his shoulders and looked Cang Xingyue up and down.
This guy's figure and looks are much better than that one. Those long, straight legs would feel amazing to be on. This trip was definitely worthwhile.
"Want to save her? Trade yourself." He swallowed hard, rubbing his hands together, his greedy gaze never leaving Cang Xingyue. "Or perhaps, you two want to serve me together, hehehehe—"
The man's lewd words and gaze made Cang Xingyue feel nauseous and her anger surge.
"Screw you!"
Cang Xingyue delivered a spinning kick, knocking the knife out of his hand, and then clenched her fist and swung it at the man's face.
This man is just an ordinary person without any superpowers. If he were a superpowered person, he would have used his powers long ago. How could he be threatening people with a knife?
From the moment he pulled out the knife, she was basically certain.
She didn't need to use her superpowers to deal with ordinary people. Her physical abilities and strength far surpassed those of ordinary people, and even far exceeded those of most superpowered individuals. Therefore, some physical skills were enough to overwhelm him.
In just a few blows, the man was already bleeding from his head. Cang Xingyue grabbed the man by the collar like a chick and threw him to the ground.
"Since you can't control it, I might as well just disable it for you, so it won't harm other people."
She made a move as if to kick the man between his legs.
"No! No! I was wrong, ah—"
The man froze instantly, clutching his groin and trembling uncontrollably. He fainted moments later.
The woman standing behind Cang Xingyue looked at the knife on the ground. She glanced at Cang Xingyue, and taking advantage of her inattention, she quietly moved over, picked it up, and hid it behind her back.
