Chapter 364 Happy Wedding
Chapter 364 Happy Wedding
After the kissing ceremony, the emcee, microphone in hand, turned to the guests with a beaming smile:
"Next, let's give a warm round of applause to Mr. Lin, the groom's father, who will come up to the stage to offer his blessings to the newlyweds!"
Applause erupted like a tidal wave.
Sitting in the front row, Mr. Lin seemed to be burned by the applause. He froze, his hands unconsciously rubbing the seams of his trousers, his eyes darting around, but he dared not look at the stage.
Seeing his alarmed expression, Lin's mother felt both sorry for him and wanted to laugh, so she gave him a hard push on the back.
"Hurry up, don't keep everyone waiting!"
Lin's father was pushed so hard that he stumbled and had no choice but to stand up.
He straightened his clothes, took a deep breath, and amidst continuous applause, walked slowly onto the stage with a sense of tragic grandeur, as if going to his execution.
Standing in front of the microphone, facing the guests and several cameras, Mr. Lin didn't know where to put his hands.
He first touched his tie, then rubbed his face, and finally put his hand in his pocket, but then felt it was inappropriate and quickly pulled it out.
"Um... dear friends and family..." Her voice trembled noticeably as soon as she opened her mouth.
Offstage, Lin Feng helplessly rubbed his throbbing temples.
He knew his father too well; he had been an honest and simple man his whole life, and this was the kind of situation he feared most.
After fumbling in his suit pocket for a while, Lin's father finally pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper.
Because his hands were shaking so badly, the paper made a faint "swish" sound when he unfolded it.
He cleared his throat and tried to focus his eyes on the words on the paper:
"Today is a joyous day for my son Lin Feng and his daughters-in-law... my daughters-in-law."
"As...as a father, I...I feel very..."
He was speaking when beads of sweat began to appear on his forehead.
He subconsciously raised his sleeve to wipe it, but then realized it was inappropriate and quickly wiped it with the back of his hand instead.
The brides lowered their eyes one by one, their eyelashes trembling slightly. None of them dared to look at each other, for fear that they would burst out laughing if they made eye contact.
On stage, Lin's father continued reading from the script, but the paper was full of official jargon and platitudes, which came out of his mouth haltingly, like stones hurting his feet:
"...Thank you to all the guests for joining us on this wonderful day to witness...to witness their..."
He paused here, staring at the manuscript for several seconds, his forehead sweating even more.
Some people in the audience chuckled good-naturedly.
Lin Feng finally couldn't stand it anymore. Amidst everyone's surprised gazes, he stood up and strode onto the stage.
"Dad." Lin Feng walked to his father's side and called out softly.
"Don't repeat that," Lin Feng said softly. "Say whatever you want, it's okay."
Mr. Lin was taken aback. He looked at his son's encouraging eyes and then at the kind and expectant faces below the stage.
He suddenly felt as if the weight in his heart had lightened.
He put away the manuscript, took a deep breath, and this time, although his voice still trembled slightly, it was much steadyer:
"Um... the draft says that someone was asked to prepare it, so I have to say polite things and be appropriate."
He smiled sheepishly, "But those words sound awkward to me to read, and I bet you find them tiring to listen to."
The audience erupted in even louder laughter and applause.
"I'm just a worker, I don't know any grand principles."
Lin's father's gaze softened as he looked at Lin Feng and then at his several graceful daughters-in-law.
"I knew it, my son is a good boy."
"He has never caused me any worry since he was a child."
"Today, he got married, and he married... so many wives. This is his good fortune, and it's also a good fortune for our Lin family."
His eyes were a little red, and his voice choked up slightly:
"From now on, you're all family. You'll discuss things together and get along well."
"If Xiao Feng dares to bully you, don't be afraid. Tell me, and I... even though I'm old, I still have the strength to beat him up!"
This remark caused the entire audience to burst into laughter.
Lin Feng, standing to the side, couldn't help but laugh, though his eyes were a little hot.
"I just hope that you can live in harmony and peace."
After saying this last simple sentence, Lin's father seemed to feel that he had said everything he needed to say, and he bowed deeply to the audience.
Thank you everyone for coming to the children's wedding. Enjoy the food and drinks!
Thunderous applause erupted.
Lin's mother sat in the audience, clapping vigorously while secretly wiping away tears from the corners of her eyes with her fingertips.
The emcee exclaimed, "Mr. Lin's words were so beautiful; that's the most heartwarming blessing!"
"Now, we're going to move on to the last part of today's wedding, and the part all our single friends are most looking forward to—the bouquet toss!"
The music changed to a light and lively melody, and several young, unmarried guests had already gathered eagerly in the open space in the center of the lawn.
"Come on, let's invite the six brides to come to this side of the lawn and stand with their backs to everyone!" the emcee enthusiastically guided them.
The six brides, dressed in pure white wedding gowns, smiled at each other, lifted their skirts, and walked gracefully to the center of the lawn, where they stood in a row at the emcee's signal.
The sunlight gilded their silhouettes with a soft golden edge, and the bouquets in their hands looked exceptionally beautiful in the sunlight.
"Yes, that's it, turn your back to everyone—don't turn around, or it won't work!"
The six brides turned around, their backs to the crowd of people eagerly waiting behind them, and clutched their bouquets tightly.
Standing in the middle, Leng Meng softly counted down: "Sisters, are you ready? Three—"
The six people tightened their grip on the bouquets in unison, leaning forward slightly, ready to exert force.
"two--"
The crowd behind them was already stirring, with young men and women rubbing their hands together in anticipation.
"one!"
As the last number landed, all six brides simultaneously threw their bouquets high into the air over their shoulders.
In an instant, six exquisite bouquets drew six graceful parabolas in the air, like six dazzling rainbows, intertwining and flying towards the crowd behind them.
"Wow--!"
"Over here, over here!"
"be mine!"
The crowd erupted in cheers.
Young men and women cheered and jumped up, stretching their arms to reach the falling bouquets.
The first bunch was snatched by a girl with a ponytail who jumped high and excitedly screamed as she hugged her companion.
The second bouquet landed in the arms of a bespectacled, refined-looking boy. He was stunned for a moment, then was pushed and shoved by his friends.
The third bouquet, the fourth bouquet... the last bouquet bounced a few times between several arms before finally being caught steadily by Qin Yue.
She stared in disbelief at the flowers in her hand, her face instantly flushing crimson.
After the cheers subsided slightly, the emcee smiled and raised the microphone:
"Distinguished guests, dear friends and relatives, happy times always fly by."
The wedding ceremony has now concluded successfully!
He offered his final blessings with deep emotion:
May they spend the rest of their lives in gentle warmth and companionship, through every meal and season; may they walk hand in hand through life.
"Whether in stormy weather or under a clear sky, may this love always remain as passionate and sincere as it is today!"
As soon as the words were spoken, the joyful and solemn wedding march began to play again.
"Now, please welcome the newlyweds to exit the stage hand in hand!"
The petal machine at the edge of the stage started instantly, and colorful petals fell like snowflakes.
Lin Feng stood in the middle, exchanged smiles with the six ladies, and then stepped onto the red carpet, walking towards the castle amidst a shower of flowers.
The guests on both sides all stood up and applauded enthusiastically.
Happy Wedding!
"Be happy!"
