Chapter 62: Author's Note on Launching the Book
It's available now, guga~
Thank you all for your love of Stellaris, Players & Immortals. I would also like to thank editor Bacon for his guidance.
The inspiration for writing this book came from the games Stellaris and Civilization VI (I think it's better called Barbarian VI). I bought both games at the same time, but I played Stellaris first.
To be honest, I felt pretty... pathetic playing both games.
I started by choosing a faction, just clicking on whatever lit up, not knowing how to configure my fleet or how to use specialization orbs. Even the Void Dragons on the roadside could kick me twice. I just made third-kind contact with an alien civilization, and everyone's favorability towards me is negative. They keep claiming my territory, and some have even declared war on me...
I'm a pretty stubborn player, so even if the game experience is bad, I'll still choose the League of Legends. After playing several rounds of the regular version, I finally understood the gameplay a little bit. At that time, I figured out a little trick to avoid getting beaten up at the start.
I started by choosing the "Conspiracy" option, then went on a spree of sending spies, spreading rumors and sabotaging relations between neighboring countries and other civilizations. Every time a neighboring country wanted to attack me, I was able to know in advance. Then I chose "Proxy Wars" to make neighboring countries fight with other civilizations.
Once they start fighting and the main force leaves their hometown, I'll send troops straight to their hometown... Hehe, this trick always works!
Moreover, this gameplay is quite fun, and it's very immersive. I can always imagine some exciting spy dramas, which is why the protagonist has the profession of spy (actually, the original title of this book was "Stars, Players and Interstellar Spies" by Guga).
Later, after the first human alliance wiped out all civilizations and turned all the aliens into canned goods, they began to try other gameplay styles, as well as other ideologies and natural disaster gameplay.
I have to say the development environment for Earth Alliance is really good, you know. Playing Human Alliance is just plain stupid and will land you in jail.
I'm still figuring out other ways to play. A while ago, I played a game of Yifei Origins using the Earth Alliance, and that's when I got the inspiration for this book.
After that, I played Civilization VI. The barbarian tribes at the start destroyed my capital several times. Every time, I wanted to develop properly, but they forced me to engage in a war of attrition. Later, I stopped building builders and started building troops from the Kuku at the start, even if it meant going to the water (reopening the map), just to wipe out the barbarians.
At the same time, due to the PTSD caused by the stars, I particularly liked to send spies to loiter in cities of other countries (it was only when I was launching a nuclear attack on an enemy country later that I realized my spies had not been withdrawn yet).
These two games gave me the initial inspiration to write this book. I then bought 2077 and also watched Gundam 00.
I also reread the relevant settings and content of Warhammer 40, Star Wars, and Dune. I also looked through a few documents about the Luxury Foundation's anomalies. Some of the meme settings were quite interesting, so I designed the concept of the Cosmic Meme.
After all, both the Broken Church's Myron and the Warhammer's Omniscient God truly possess strange and unusual things like mechanical memes, especially the Mechanicus's Gear Virus, which is truly both materialistic and idealistic.
I also watched a documentary about major national projects, as well as some videos of the Type 055 destroyer and aircraft carrier.
This book is actually a space opera, because I like this style of work and I wanted "space units", so I designed SA as a substitute. Because of the existence of super units, the role of aircraft carriers in space opera is highlighted again.
Moreover, this book is about civilization development and farming, so in order to speed up the pace, some political content has to be fast-forwarded. Otherwise, if I were to write about everything in detail, just the unification of Mars alone would require at least 500,000 words, which would be too long.
As for some settings data, well...
I believe every author of a setting story has a burning passion for data!
However, I did not control things well at the beginning, and the update volume was indeed insufficient, so I am really sorry about that!
That's enough of this chat, lol. As for updates... haha, I can only guarantee 4,000 words per update, lol. As for any big updates, lol, I'll try my best... as much as I can {taps and whispers}.
