Chapter 504 Unexpected Changes
"Principal Karkaroff has gone mad," Jack said slowly from the side. "Although we rescued him, but..."
"Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!" Karkarov's shrill cry came from inside the jar, as he frantically shouted in German, "I'm not afraid of you!"
"I'm not afraid of you!"
"Don't come any closer!"
"You monster! Get away from me!"
He was shouting and frantically pounding the ground and the glass jar, then drooling and trembling all over.
"————" Seeing this scene, Lupin pursed his lips and subconsciously looked at Loila.
He didn't see any fear on Loila's face. Instead, Loila stared intently at Karkaroff without saying a word.
Has he really gone mad?
Roy slightly tightened her grip on her wand and then nodded gently—she had just used Legilimency to secretly peek into Karkaroff's mind; she had never used this spell on anyone before.
But Karkaroff—he's different, isn't he?
What Loila saw was fragmented chaos, which was definitely not the mindset of a normal person—she felt slightly nauseous after only a few seconds of looking.
"He's gone mad," Jack continued. "He's like this whenever someone comes."
"What are you shouting about?" he said, shrugging as if he didn't understand German.
"People from St. Mungo's Hospital have already been here," Andrew said slowly from the side. "They said it's related to the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse."
"It seems that those dark wizards used those unforgivable curses on him, which drove him insane."
"I really have to thank you, Death Eaters—" Royla certainly knew who "those dark wizards" referred to.
This was the first time she had ever thanked Voldemort and his minions so much.
It's a pity though—if I were to do it myself—well, well, Loila doesn't think she's that cruel—she would probably just use a Killing Curse to send Karkaroff straight to hell.
She did do that, but it seems she delivered it to the wrong person—
"So you're just going to leave him here like this?" Lupin asked softly, "Isn't that a bit too much—"
"It won't be long before the German Ministry of Magic sends someone to take him back," Andrew answered Lupin's question expressionlessly. Then he looked at Loila and asked, "Miss Hamilton, is there anything you'd like to know?"
"No—that's all," Loila nodded and said.
"In that case, please follow me." Andrew said, nodding to Jack, and then led Lupin and Loila outside.
As they walked, he said, "There's another place we'd like you to see."
"Hmm?" Loila remembered that the Ministry of Magic had some questions for her.
Why is there a place you want me to see?
With this confusion in mind, Loila and Lupin followed behind Andrew.
Jack looked at them with a strange expression.
"When did the Ministry of Magic get so many new recruits?"
His mutterings didn't reach Loila and the others' ears. After Andrew led them out of the jar room, he looked around and seemed to confirm the location before leading the two of them upstairs.
The various departments of the Ministry of Magic are all within the walls, but the walls surrounding the plaza are not solid; they are hollow—the roads wind around the circular walls like streets encircling a mountain, ascending upwards.
On both sides of the road are various rooms and departments.
However, as they continued upwards, the number of Aurors around them began to decrease, and this did not seem to be an office area.
Even when Aurors occasionally appeared, they were always in a hurry.
"Where is this place?" Lupin suddenly stopped and looked at Andrew, asking, "If I remember correctly—shouldn't you be asking about Steinberg?"
"Don't rush, Mr. Lupin." Andrew rolled his eyes at him. "We're just bringing Miss Hamilton to a place where she might need it."
"Where might it be of use?" Lupin frowned as he looked at him, waiting for his answer.
After a few seconds of silence, Andrew looked at Loila and said, "Miss Hamilton—Minister Fudge spoke with you before, didn't he?"
"Regarding the establishment of the Magic Array Management Division."
"Hmm—yes—yes—but I remember I refused Minister Fudge." Of course, Loila remembered that, but hadn't that matter already been resolved?
How is this related to this matter again?
"That's right, Miss Hamilton," Andrew said slowly, "If the Magic Array Management Division is established, the department will be located here."
"Um?
""
"This is a good location in the Ministry of Magic, and the Minister will also allocate you a staff of several dozen people."
So are you here to persuade me again?
But I've already decided not to come to the Ministry of Magic—Loira interrupted him, pursing her lips, "Um—I've already declined Minister Fudge's offer."
"Working at the Ministry of Magic is much better than at Hogwarts," Andrew said, shaking his head slightly. "And not just the salary—"
The Ministry of Magic is still safe.
"The Ministry of Magic is safe?" Lupin sneered. "Is the Ministry of Magic safer than Hogwarts and Dumbledore?"
"If that's the case, why are you still letting Harry go to Hogwarts?"
"And does Royla really need your protection?"
"Because no one can threaten Harry's life," Andrew said, seemingly a little angry. "The Man from Darkness is dead."
Your focus seems to be off—and I really don't need the Ministry of Magic's protection—as for salary and stuff—Royla gets a fair amount of money from Dumbledore.
And she's actually not short of money.
"Miss Hamilton, the choice is yours." Andrew ignored Lupin and looked at Loila: "If you wish, you can now serve as the director."
"Ah—I—I don't really want to," Loila said, pursing her lips. "I don't want to be the director."
"I am just a professor at Hogwarts."
"Even if Dumbledore is trying to control the wizarding world?" Andrew frowned and said slowly, "I believe Miss Hamilton didn't see the Mystic, did she?"
If you're talking about Voldemort himself, then there really isn't one—after all, he looked like Steinberg, right?
But Voldemort really didn't die.
Loila didn't know how to answer Andrew's question.
It seems a little awkward—and—Loila noticed that Mr. Lupin seemed a little nervous, gripping his wand tightly in his sleeve.
"————" Andrew looked at the silent Loila and Lupin, thought for a few seconds, and then sighed.
"Alright then, Miss Hamilton—in that case, let's not—" As he was saying this, a paper airplane suddenly flew into his hand.
He paused for a moment, then picked up the paper airplane and looked at it for a few seconds. Loila noticed that his expression seemed a little strange—and his body trembled slightly.
After that, he remained silent for a few seconds, then burned the paper airplane to ashes.
As the ashes slowly fell to the ground, he looked at Loila and Lupin.
Then, to Loila and Lupin's astonishment, he drew his wand and pointed it at them.
"Loila Hamilton, on the orders of Minister Fudge, you are suspected of illegally abusing the Unforgivable Curse, committing murder without trial, and conducting illegal experiments."
"You are under arrest according to Sections 17, 22, and 38 of the Wizarding Act!"
