Chapter 20: Luna's Letter
Chapter 20: Luna's Letter
"Sia! Ahhh!"
Lying on the bed, Loila rolled around and screamed.
"I feel so embarrassed!" Loila cried out in a near-breakdown. "Mr. Scrimgeour must think I'm a complete failure!"
"It's a rice weevil!"
She still remembers Mr. Scrinker's ugly face and his silence the whole way!
This is definitely related to me!
If only I hadn't fainted at that time!
Loila, the silent owl, remained silent for a few seconds before letting out an even louder scream.
Indeed, someone like me shouldn't have participated in such an operation!
Loila covered her head and rolled from one side of the bed to the other.
I guess I should just be a freeloader like Ms. Vida said...
"Clatter".
The door to the room was suddenly pushed open, and the person who walked in was none other than Lu Ping.
"Miss Hamilton... I heard... um?" He looked at Loila rolling around on the bed and felt a little embarrassed for a moment.
"What are you doing...?"
"I'm a parasite," Loila said instinctively.
"A rice...worm?" Lupin stared at Loila in a daze, their blue eyes meeting for a few seconds.
Then... that pale face visibly turned red, and even the exposed pointed ears turned red at the same time.
"Mr. Lulululupin?!" Loila exclaimed, clutching the blanket and wrapping herself up. "When...when...when did you..."
"I just came in..." Lupin gave an awkward smile.
"Ah...I...I was just...playing...playing the role of a parasite with Sia..." A somewhat weak explanation came from the stammering wizard's mouth.
"That...that's quite interesting..." Lupin scratched his face, feeling more embarrassed than ever before.
Embarrassed, he wanted to turn around and leave...
"Coo coo coo!" Just then, an owl suddenly flew in through the window and flapped its wings, dropping a letter.
"This is..." Lupin paused for a moment, picked up the letter, examined it for a few moments, and said, "Someone wrote to you, Miss Hamilton."
"My...my letter?" Loila suddenly raised her head from under the blanket, her pointed ears perking up excitedly.
"Buzz!"
Before Lupin could say anything more, Loila flicked her wand and took the letter.
There's no need to get so worked up...
Lupin looked at Loila, who was holding the letter in both hands and examining it without wiping away her tears, and didn't know whether to feel sorry for her or laugh.
"It's...it's a letter from Miss Lovegood!" Loira exclaimed excitedly. "It's not from those strange people!"
"A strange person?"
"Mmm-hmm!" Loila exclaimed excitedly, her words barely stammering, "It's one of those letters that starts with 'Hi, do you remember me?'!"
"I've received plenty of these kinds of letters before, but I don't know why they always ask me for money!"
This must be some kind of scam message, right?
Lupin pursed his lips, looking at Loila who was holding the letter and grinning foolishly, and said, "Aren't you going to open it and take a look?"
"I..." Loila pursed her lips and said, "This is the first letter I've received, and I don't want to... I don't want to open it..."
"That definitely won't do, will it?" Lupin slowly sat down in his chair. "Miss Lovegood may have something she wants to tell you."
"Yes...right..." Loila held the letter in her hands and remained silent for a few seconds, then took a deep breath as if she had made up her mind.
Then, slowly and carefully, he opened the letter, as if he were opening Gringotts savings account...
This is my first letter, so of course I have to keep it safe... With that thought in mind, Loila began to read the contents carefully.
The handwriting on the letter was so lively that it seemed as if Miss Luna Lovegood herself was standing right in front of him.
To my dearest Veela Hamilton!
"Do you remember me? I'm Luna Lovegood. If you have, please smell this letter..."
"Hmm?" Loila subconsciously brought the letter closer and smelled it.
Lu Ping's lips twitched slightly as he watched.
It smells like... grass?
Loila shook her head and continued reading.
"Now you should remember me, right?"
"I plan to go to Northern Europe with my father before the start of the school year to look for the Curved-Horned Snorkel, and before that, I want to visit Mr. Scamander."
"I'm missing your pretty pointed ears. Can you come with me?"
Pretty...pointed ears?
Loila subconsciously pinched her ears... How could they be pretty... They were so...
She shook her head, trying to relegate Durmstrang's memories to a corner and avoid thinking about them.
Perhaps it was because Miss Lovegood was different... she certainly displayed a unique and extraordinary temperament...
but……
Loila touched the corner of her mouth that was turned up in a smile, unable to remain calm no matter what.
Miss Luna Lovegood invited me to go out! This is the first time anyone has ever invited me! I don't want to go out, but this is the first time anyone has ever invited me! Even though it's Miss Lovegood, this is the first time anyone has ever invited me!
"You look very happy, Miss Hamilton."
"Huh? Really...?" Loila quickly lowered her head and said, "Sorry (⋟﹏⋞) I got a little carried away!"
"This shouldn't be considered getting carried away... and there's no need to apologize... but what good thing happened?" Lupin asked curiously, "If you can't tell me..."
"Of course, Mr. Lupin, you are my friend!" You have the right to know all my stories, except for those concerning Lord Grindelwald!
Loila smiled and said, "Miss Lovegood invited me to come along."
"Play?" Lupin was subconsciously a little confused... Wasn't Miss Hamilton already eighteen years old?
Strictly speaking, he's already 68 years old... What's he doing playing around with an 11-year-old girl at that age...? Isn't that a bit...?
But seeing Loila's happy expression, Lupin realized a cruel truth: it was very likely that no one had invited Miss Hamilton out for the past eighteen years.
That seems fine... Anyway, when people see her with Miss Lovegood, they'll probably just assume they're sisters, right?
So Lupin just smiled and said, "That sounds great, do you want to go?"
"This...of course!" Loila said excitedly.
"But don't you still have things to do at the Ministry of Magic?"
"It's alright!" Loila said, holding the letter. "Director Scrimgeour said I don't need to participate in the operations these next few days."
"Is that so?" Lupin asked thoughtfully. "Why is that?"
"I'm not quite sure either." Loila tilted her head and thought for a moment. "He said it seemed to be related to pure-blood families... something like funding..."
It seems the family we're going to investigate these next few days isn't really suitable for Miss Hamilton to participate in...
Lupin nodded knowingly: "Then Miss Hamilton, you should prepare yourself for...playing with Miss Lovegood, shall you?"
"I won't bother you any longer." He said, giving a pale smile. This is for the best... If you think about it carefully, that day is almost here.
As Lupin left, Loila kept looking at the letter in front of her.
An invitation letter from a friend!
This is something I've never received before, and I'm going to make a special magic frame to put it in!
However… the name Scamander seems a little familiar… Loila looked at the place she was heading towards and felt a little… strange.
She felt like she'd heard the name before... and quite a few times... but who had mentioned it?
It looks like Lord Grindelwald and Lady Vida...
Wait... could it be Newt Scamander?
That guy who studies magical creatures and repeatedly sabotages Lord Grindelwald's plans... right?
