Each superhero's sidekick shares certain personality traits with the hero himself.
For example, Aquaman's sidekick, Aquaman, inherited Arthur's eccentricities; Barry's sidekick is as kind as the Flash; and Batman's sidekicks have more or less inherited Bruce's intelligence and suspiciousness, and none of them like to acquire superpowers.

He believed in his companions and in Rune. Barry was essentially still a big kid at heart; like Superman, he believed in human conscience, even though he was always caught or defeated because of his kindness.

The ground beneath his feet, the sky above his head—all of Rune's perception of reality—was like a watercolor painting soaked by rain; the vibrant colors began to mix, flow, and finally peel away. Sound was stretched into an infinitely long thread before breaking, and even light twisted into bizarre spirals.
Rune felt that this was not like running, but more like the entire universe constantly being reorganized.
Before him, Barry's arm was the only constant thing that Rune could feel. The Speed Force field surrounding it was warm and vibrant, and Rune could even feel the field pulsating as if it were alive.
Then, Rune felt as if he had rushed into a tunnel, where there was no up, down, left, or right, only a torrent of golden, silver, and deep blue energy.
Rune didn't know how much time had passed when he saw the light ahead condense into a white-hot point, and he and Barry seemed to be rushing towards it. Just when Rune thought the two sides were about to collide, the surroundings suddenly became silent.
Then, Rune felt as if a new universe was exploding before him.
"That's amazing," Rune exclaimed.
"Of course!" Barry released his grip, his breathing still slightly rapid, and his eyes still gleaming with electricity.
