Chapter 353 Lana's Severed Arm
Chapter 353 Lana's Severed Arm
Chapter 353 Lana's Severed Arm
"There are five Terminators in total, all of them humanoid—"
Before Clark could finish speaking, the metal door on the other side of the shelter's path was torn open by a tremendous force, and a metal skeleton covered in red and black matter appeared in the doorway.
Clearly, this Terminator had wreaked havoc inside the shelter; the substance on its body was completely dried blood. Lana's earlier guess about why the humans left the shelter was obviously wrong.
Worse still, the radiation from the kryptonite was rapidly weakening Clark's strength. In just a few seconds, he felt as exhausted as if he had just gone through five hours of extreme training.
"Lana—" Clark said in a low voice, "You leave here first, I'll come back later."
The T-600's guns had long since run out of ammunition, but Brainiac had anticipated this and installed a switchblade-like device inside the T-600's arm. Once it detected that there were no supplies nearby and the guns were out of ammunition, the T-600 would use the weapon inside its arm.
The blade tore through its rubber skin with a click-clack-clack sound. Perhaps it was rusted, because it took a while for the blade to fully spring out. Clark wanted to use his heat vision to destroy the T-600 directly, but he only felt a burning sensation in his eye area, without any rays shooting out of his eyes.
We're doomed!
The T-600 suddenly accelerated, raising its blade and charging straight at Clark. Clark barely managed to dodge, but the Kryptonite's weakening effect still slowed him down by half a beat. The spikes tore through his clothes, leaving a long wound from which blood instantly flowed out.
Lana was on the verge of tears when she saw this. She hesitated for a moment, then turned and left. She knew that she would only be a burden to Clark if she stayed there, and the impression that Clark could easily kill the Terminator was still in Lana's mind.
She thought that as long as she left, Clark could unleash his full power without restraint and kill those robots, but in reality, the Kryptonite necklace would only keep Clark in a state of continuous weakness. Without the help of others, Superman would very likely die in the world of The Boys.
Two more T-600s poured in through the gap, their red-glowing optical sensors lurking in the dim light like vampires watching from the night.
Seeing this, Clark felt a chill run down his spine. He gritted his teeth, mustered all his strength, and punched the Terminator, who was about to turn and stab him, through the wound.
A T-600 approached Clark. Its skull-like face was expressionless. It tried to extend its arm to reveal a hidden switchblade, but failed. The blade had rusted completely into the other parts. So it chose to charge forward and engage Clark in combat.
The other T-600, however, did not focus its attention on Clark. After glancing at Clark, who was now locked in a stalemate with the T-600, it chose to pursue Lana, who had just escaped.
Seeing the other robot's movements, Clark shouted, "No!"
However, with his hands already engaged in a struggle with the T-600, Superman couldn't even free one hand to tear off the kryptonite necklace. The other T-600 suddenly swung its arm, a switchblade extending from its blade, then accelerated sharply, chasing after Lana in the direction she had fled.
Clark could only watch helplessly as this unfolded. He was now filled with regret. Why hadn't he killed the Terminator inside when he first arrived at this shelter? Why had he brought Lana into this world? Why had he clashed with Rune?
Soon, Lana's screams echoed from outside the shelter.
Perhaps it was anger, perhaps it was despair—in any case, due to the intense emotional fluctuations, Clark successfully broke free from the T-600's restraints. In a fit of rage, he kicked the T-600 opposite him, sending it flying and directly crushing the other two T-600s that were trying to come and eliminate humans according to procedure.
"Lana!" Clark roared and rushed toward the source of the sound. After rushing out of the shelter, he saw Lana lying on the grass not far away. One of her right arms had been cut off. The sound of his beloved crying made his heart ache.
But the T-600 beside her had already raised its arm, ready to deliver the final blow and kill the human completely.
At this moment, the weakness brought on by the kryptonite was overwhelmed by pure rage, and Steve's teachings also came to mind: protecting them is not a choice, but a responsibility. A true hero is not measured by how many enemies you can defeat, but by how many innocent people you can save.
Clark started running.
Faster, faster! Run, Clark, run!
He told himself that his steps were heavier than before, and his muscles were weaker than before, all of which were limiting him, but how could he slow down when his beloved was about to die?
bump!
Finally, before the T-600 could strike Lana, he rammed her away. The immense force caused the Terminator to disintegrate into twisted metal parts in mid-air, eventually becoming a pile of scrap metal.
Clark knelt beside Lana, carefully examining her injuries. "Hang in there, Lana. Look at me, please look at me, okay?"
The intense pain turned Lana pale and made her breath quicken, but she didn't cry out. Instead, she looked at Clark's chest, "Clark—that necklace—"
Clark followed her gaze to his chest, only to realize that the strange necklace that had made him feel powerless had disappeared at some point, and his strength surged like a tide, instantly healing the wounds he had sustained while saving Lana.
"Alright, let's not talk about that now, Lana. I'll heal you, okay? Just hang in there—"
Clark used his X-ray vision to examine Lana's wounds. Apart from her severed arm and numerous bruises on her body, Lana was mostly unharmed. However, even so, the severed arteries caused by the amputation were causing a significant loss of blood, and in this environment lacking medical equipment, Clark was completely unable to treat wounds of this severity.
"No—" Lana broke out in a cold sweat, barely managing to grab Clark's hand: "You—"
"Don't say anything, it's all my fault—" Clark choked up, carefully picking up Lana and using his thermal vision to seal the wound and stop the bleeding. This was the only thing Clark could think of doing. "I'll take you home, Rune—Rune can definitely heal you, I promise."
The three T-600s had now fully recovered and were running out of the shelter, faithfully carrying out the orders of the deceased Brainiac.
However, Clark directly unleashed a fiery gaze upon them, and in his rage, this strike instantly turned them into a pool of molten iron.
"Do you realize your mistake, Clark?"
A familiar voice sounded from behind him.
