Chapter 346 Constantine—A Troublemaker in Every Sense

"Is this the man you described, the one who's lonely, incredibly fierce?" Constantine stared wide-eyed at the man before him.

"Shut up, Brit! One more word and I'll shove my claws up your ass!" Wolverine retorted just as fiercely, sniffing himself before making a disgusted face: "How many demons have you slept with, you know? The smell of sulfur has replaced your body odor!"

Constantine looked at Rune in disbelief. "Wow, this is the boyfriend you found for me—a short, grumpy freak?"

"Who said this is the boyfriend I found for you?!"

"You actually want me to be his boyfriend?!"

Rune and Wolverine spoke at the same time, and then the three of them looked at each other, bewildered.

Upon learning that Rune wanted him to cooperate with Constantine, Wolverine was the first to disagree.

"I hate working with this kind of glib-tongued mage," he scoffed, "especially since he's gay!"

Constantine stood up, looked down at the famous short superhero, and then gave a disdainful smile.

Fun fact: Constantine's height has always remained at 183 cm, while apart from Hugh Jackman's movie version of Wolverine, other Wolverines are only 160 cm tall.

"Shut up! You're talking too loudly!" Wolverine was furious and looked at Rune, hoping that Rune could explain himself.

Well, Constantine didn't say anything—Rune thought with a bit of helplessness.

It's important to know that when Rune introduced Wolverine to the world, he clearly stated that he would encounter extremely terrifying battles, with the demon lords of hell and the archangels of heaven becoming his enemies. Even Wolverine himself could die in this endless battle due to a small oversight.

Even with my level of self-healing ability, I can still die? That's amazing!

It was after hearing Rune say that Wolverine came to this world. Just when he thought he'd be fighting Satan, Lucifer, and the like for three hundred rounds, "Turns out, the first guy I met was a troublemaker in every sense of the word?" Wolverine roared, "He stinks like he just 'fought Satan!'"

Upon hearing this, Rune stopped in his tracks, a smile involuntarily creeping onto his lips. Constantine, on the other hand, placed his right hand on Wolverine's body, looking like close buddies.

"How did you know I just attacked Satan?" The Hell Detective had a look on his face that said, "Ask me, let me brag about it."

"Where did you find this absolute lunatic? He actually dared to say he's a #Satan!" Logan wanted to burst out laughing, because Constantine's words were simply too absurd, but after laughing for a while, he realized that Rune wasn't laughing along, but was looking at him seriously. "No, don't tell me he really—"

Rune nodded.

Logan knew Rune's character, of course. This powerful mage disdained lying and always kept his word. He was incredibly generous, even giving away those magical puppets without hesitation.

The elderly man, born in the 19th century, slowly turned his head and sneered, "Damn, you're really something else, you've got guts!"

"Constantine, I've found you a very powerful helper," Rune said, looking at Constantine with goodwill. "If you want to live comfortably, you'd better get along with him. Unlike you, this man is always chasing death; you can always trust him."

Hearing Rune say this, Constantine sat down and carefully examined this visitor from another world. He believed that someone strong enough to fight Doctor Fate wouldn't, and wouldn't stoop to, lying to him. For this reason, he even went so far as to use some magic from hell.

"Let me see." He lit a talisman with his lighter, and the ashes moved without wind, actively rushing into the eyes of the Hell Detective. Constantine instantly gained a special vision, a magic that allowed him to see the essence of the other person's soul.

Even though he had been to Hell many times and had seen famous demons like Belial, the essence of Rune's soul still made Constantine raise an eyebrow.

Rune's soul was like a writhing mass—

"ah!!!"

Constantine, who had dared to observe Rune without permission, screamed as his eye exploded instantly, and a white substance appeared and began to slowly repair the Hellstalker's eye.

This is—a symbiote?

Wolverine was surprised, but outwardly he laughed with schadenfreude, "Why did his eyes suddenly explode?"

"Because he looked at me." Rune curled his lip, and Wolverine fell silent. Just being seen by someone could make their eyes explode—

"FXXK! FXXK! FXXK!" Constantine cursed loudly, and it took him a while for his eyes to return to normal. "Rune, why didn't you stop me sooner!"

"Would you give up your observation if I stopped you?" Rune retorted, a question that sank the Constantine.

If he could really be law-abiding and just be an ordinary mage, would he have ended up in this state? This bastard planned a scheme to deceive Archangel Gabriel just because he was curious about what the loopholes in Heaven were. He even got everyone in the bar drunk and searched their souls one by one in order to trace the source of a certain curse.

If a world-ending crisis were to occur on the magical side of DC, it would be advisable to go directly to Constantine. Even if he wasn't responsible, he would most likely investigate the cause and effect of the crisis out of curiosity, sacrificing a few good friends or superheroes along the way.

Even though Rune prevented Constantine from observing him, this only made Constantine more determined to observe Rune no matter what.

"Okay, okay, you have a point." Constantine was somewhat frustrated by this unexpected misfortune, but he wasn't entirely without gain.

Turning to Wolverine, Constantine extended his hand. "Hey, how about we team up?"

Just a moment after using the magic, he still caught a glimpse of Wolverine's soul out of the corner of his eye. Although not as terrifying as Rune's, Wolverine's soul was like a terrifying giant wolf, lying there nonchalantly, completely ignoring the wounds all over its body and the blood that seemed to be flowing endlessly.

In the realm of magic, the concept of the wolf carries many symbolic meanings, including negative ones such as greed, cruelty, and evil, and positive ones such as power, freedom, and protection. Constantine can easily discern Logan's personality through his character.

"roll!"

"It seems he doesn't like me very much." Constantine shrugged. "It's a shame; if someone like me were to die, London, or even the whole world, might die with me."

Wolverine's ears twitched.

"It works!" Constantine continued, "But it's alright. Someone like you can't even imagine what kind of monsters I've faced in my entire life. It's better if you don't cooperate with me, so you won't be crying and needing Rune to comfort you at night—."

"I could say the same thing to you!" Wolverine sneered. "But, for Rune's sake, and for the sake of everyone in the world, I will cooperate with you."

Aha, a great success!

Constantine smiled, his eyes narrowing. Brutality, power, and protection—truly spot on.
