Chapter 336 Brainiac Unleashes His Ultimate Skill
"Taking without asking is not the behavior of a hero."
When Rune came before him, Brainiac pointedly remarked that Rune had just taken all of Brainiac's treasured collection of civilizations. However, Rune was unmoved by Brainiac's accusation; he wasn't a superhero, so he didn't care about the other's criticism and simply put the hat back on.
"When you forcibly took them into your collection, did you ever think about their feelings?" Rune said with a sneer. "Before you criticize others, you'd better take a look at yourself to see if you're clean."
Brainiac stood up. Unlike his previous clones, this Brainiac did not have a Homelander's face. His expression was quite indifferent and calm, as if nothing could shock him, not even the fact that his own treasures had been stolen.
However, Brainiac's inner turmoil was not as calm as he appeared. The damage Rune had just inflicted on him had far exceeded his expectations: 17% of the ship's structure was contaminated by magic, and that number was still rising; multiple key databases had suffered massive damage; and all twelve clones of his, replicated from the genes of the strongest creature beneath his feet, were lost.
The last time he suffered such a great loss was at the hands of four stupid idiots.
Brainiac admits that he is not strong compared to the other "selves", but he does have some tricks up his sleeve.
"You think you've won? Daring to come to my territory and still expect victory—utterly laughable." Brainiac's mechanical eyes flashed with a cold green light, then he suddenly spread his arms wide. "Your magic is utterly meaningless in the face of technology!"
His voice rose, and he became unusually excited. Rune didn't know what the other was preparing and instinctively wanted to step forward to stop him, but Brainiac smiled.
"Your end is coming!"
The next instant, the metal ground beneath the mage's feet suddenly collapsed, but Rune didn't experience any physical sensation of falling—because it was a tearing apart of reality itself. Brainiac dragged Rune into a world entirely made of data.
Rune opened his eyes and found himself suspended in an endless ocean of black and white code. It was called an ocean, but there were no concrete blue skies and white clouds. Instead, there were only letters and numbers of varying sizes and shapes, some large and some small, some raised and some recessed.
Brainiac's voice came from all directions: "Welcome to my domain, mage."
How interesting. Rune looked at his hands—even his body had been assimilated into data. This was truly an unprecedented and novel experience. What he didn't know was that Brainiac's computational matrix was running at full speed, analyzing the composition of this magical life form and searching for a way to completely destroy this freak. But before that, he needed to take the initiative to test Rune.
So he activated the data, creating a sea of data. The black and white waves swept towards Rune, and as soon as Rune uttered the incantation, it was transformed into meaningless gibberish.
This file format is not supported.
This really made Rune laugh in anger. Then, a wave crashed down, and a huge collision sound rang out. The mage was like a small boat in a storm, only able to rise and fall in this network of data. The sharp edges of numbers and letters kept trying to hook out the data in Rune's body, and some data even tried to flood into Rune's body.
As a result, the mage's memories began to become disordered, and his perception also became problematic. In Brainiac's understanding, everything in his data domain was programmable, which naturally included memories and perception.
Therefore, Rune felt intense heat, icy cold, and the purest pain. He also saw Raven and Sangu Demon exchange a smile, then raise their longswords and plunge them fiercely into his body. However, after such a long period of analysis, Brainiac regretfully came to a conclusion: he could only completely kill the other party's soul by grinding it down through the Sea of Data for a long time. But by acquiring such a body for free, he could perhaps stand tall in front of the other Brainiacs.
However, amidst the sea of data, a voice echoed: "You must think you've already won, right?"
Brainiac did not reply; he still did not believe that this damned dark mage could cause trouble in the realm of data and thought it was just Rune bluffing.
Rune chuckled coldly, then continued, "I think I've already mentioned it. You have a weakness: you're too rational. You can simulate normal human emotions, but you can't learn magic because magic itself clashes with rationality. Do you remember?"
"What do you mean?" Brainiac couldn't help but ask, driven by his thirst for knowledge.
"The essence of magic is the heart, is will," Rune said in the ocean of data. "It is belief that turns the impossible into the possible. That's why some people simply call magic a miracle. Perhaps in your eyes, pulling a mage into your domain can stop them from casting spells, because there is no magic power in this world, nor any hardware or software that can support the casting of magic."
"But that only applies to ordinary mages. For me, if I can't cast spells just like that, why should I waste my time learning such useless things?" Rune grinned. "Let me show you my magic."
Then, something that should never have appeared at this moment jumped out from the sea of data.
It was a tiger, not made of data, but a real tiger with fur, flesh, bones, and internal organs. It began to leap around, and wherever it went, all the numbers and letters turned into solid ground and extended outwards. Everything began to mutate, and Brainiac had to break free from the cover of data.
In the realm of data, Brainiac is extremely tall. In front of him, this tiger is no bigger than an ant. Just as Brainiac was about to crush this strange tiger as if he were crushing an ant, a strange scene occurred. The tiger did not turn into a pile of minced meat, but instead merged directly into Brainiac's body.
Brainiac's eyes widened immediately—he had never sensed such strange data before. It was as if the other party was some kind of constantly evolving conceptual virus, corroding every program within his body that it could access. Brainiac was also constantly changing and copying his own code, creating his own virus, attempting to overwrite the mage's consciousness.
Thus began a protracted tug-of-war, with both sides using willpower and wisdom as their weapons.
