Chapter 277 Hecate's Little Secret
Now, extracting the blood of a creature that knows how to use cosmic energy is not difficult; all Rune needs to do is tell Odin. However, Rune once again realized the limitations of the magic of magical beast bloodline fusion—it can only give you certain innate abilities, but not much knowledge.
Just as Rune was still feeling sentimental, Hecate walked over at some point.
"What good stuff did you bring back from other worlds this time?" Hecate snuggled close to Rune, her arms around his shoulders and her face close to his neck, showing no restraint whatsoever.
It seems Hecate is even seducing Rune, but there's a reason for it. Rune brought Vishanti and Cyttorak from the Marvel Universe, and any actions these two take in DC are passively monitored by Hecate. Their spread of magic throughout the universe, while increasing their own power, also increases Hecate's power.
Not to mention the spellbooks Rune brought back from Kamar-Taj; he didn't hoard them, whether they were Hecate or Raven.
Even when Dr. Fate, who had once been Rune's enemy, came to study, Rune did not stop him.
Hecate had to admit that Rune was now incredibly important to her, both for her path to becoming stronger and for dealing with the Upside-Downs in the future.
Rune must be, and must be, her most loyal ally.
Therefore, it's understandable to offer something in exchange for Rune's loyalty, not to mention that Rune is indeed good-looking and quite in line with Hecate's aesthetic.
Rune could naturally guess Hecate's little scheme, but he simply pushed Hecate away in disgust, wanting to put away the cosmic energy in his hand.
"etc!"
After seeing clearly what Rune was holding, Hecate's eyes widened. The crystal emitted fluctuations that did not belong to this universe. However, she had lived with Rune for a while and naturally knew that this was not surprising. But the energy emanating from it made Hecate's mind tremble.
As the goddess of magic in DC, she has experienced countless special powers, such as the Omega effect in Darkseid's hands and the emotional power in the hands of the Lanterns, but Hecate has never experienced such a power—it is primal, untamed, and like the pure power at the beginning of the universe.
"Let me see!" Hecate whispered, so excited that she could hardly contain her power, and her voice seemed to echo with a thousand or even ten thousand other voices.
Rune rolled his eyes, put the cosmic energy crystal away, and took out a smaller crystal and threw it to Hecate. The beauty hurriedly jumped to the ground to catch the small crystal.
"Hey! Do you know what you're doing, little mage?" Hecate was somewhat displeased, but her tone couldn't hide her excitement: "Even this small piece contains enough power to blow up this entire country!"
"Of course I know." Rune rolled his eyes. "But such a simple physical collision cannot destroy the stable structure of this crystal."
Hecate ignored Rune and began to try to absorb this energy. In just a moment, she felt a primal force surge into her body. Hecate also truly understood this energy. In that instant, her vision expanded to infinite angles, and she saw the six destructions and rebirths of the universe, and the intricate details of reality itself, with its various laws intertwined to the point that could stop any electrician's heart and lungs.
She wasn't stupid; she understood what that meant—
"Given enough quantity, it could even reshape the universe," Hecate frowned. "Where did you get this stuff?"
Rune raised an eyebrow. Hecate had only absorbed it once and already knew the essence of this thing. Did that mean that she might be able to teach him how to use this special energy?
"Never mind where I got it from, but you seem to have perfect control over this energy?"
"Of course, I am..." Hecate puffed out her chest, patted it, and was about to continue boasting when she suddenly remembered something and said seriously, "Well, actually, I think this sample is a bit too little. Could you give me more?"
I promise I can perfectly control this energy; I'll teach you when the time comes.
Rune looked Hecate up and down, then left without saying a word or even taking the small crystal of cosmic energy from her. But everything was understood without being said.
"Hey!" Hecate was naturally anxious. "Don't go! I—I can teach you to manipulate this energy, but you have to give me a chance to try and fail, right?"
Rune then glanced back at Hecate and tossed her the cosmic energy crystal he had previously studied. After all, this was a top-tier power from another universe. Rune could accept the losses incurred while researching it, and he could accept providing researchers with sufficient resources and compensation, but he could not accept someone like Commissioner Smith.
Do you really think his cosmic energy crystals came for nothing? Rune created a space the size of the sun for these things, blew up an Earth and the entire dimension behind it, and even had a fight with that damned Mephisto that burned his own eyes. Heca-like, he tries to extort money from you with just a few words.
dream!
"That's all. If you discover anything new, I'll invest more. If you don't," Rune glanced at Hecate, "I have nothing to threaten you with. After all, you are the God of Magic in this universe, and I wouldn't dare retaliate against you, would I?"
Rune sneered and continued, "At most, it'll just be like what you did before, bringing in that upside-down man from the Dark Multiverse again. Although he's even more vicious, considering that both he and I will want you dead, I think he can still become my good partner."
After saying that, Rune left. Hecate's current personality is still that of a venomous woman, so she must be disciplined regularly. Moreover, with Vishanti and Setorak around, even if Hecate dies, the entire magical world will remain stable. Therefore, Hecate needs him more than he needs Hecate.
Hecate was furious. She yelled at Rune to stop, but Rune ignored her orders. Only after Rune left did Hecate finally collapse to the ground.
Hecate thought to herself, "I am the embodiment of magic in this universe, and I am exceptionally beautiful. I am the one being pursued. Why are the men I value so cruel to me?"
If Rune knew what Hecate was thinking, he would definitely scold her, saying that a woman like her who can only see her own strengths but not her own weaknesses will never find true love in this life.
