Chapter 78 A New Force Belonging to Rune

Chapter 78 A New Force Belonging to Rune

"...That's all the officer told me." The adjutant finished speaking with a choked voice. It was clear that he had a good relationship with the previous officer.

Rune nodded. He heard many Muggle and wizard names from the lieutenant, some of which were familiar.

The island is actually controlled by an American.

It's not surprising that Americans are involved in the kidnapping of wizards. The Purifiers are an American force, and it's not unusual for a country to do such things. After all, how much conscience can you expect from a nation that uses its own citizens for biological weapons experiments?

It's estimated that the purgers only need to find a high-ranking official and ask, "Want to know the reason why wizards live so long?" that would be enough to wake up those decadent, dissolute individuals, who would then shower them with money and weapons, all in the hopes of living a few more decades.

The officer who committed suicide earlier clearly wanted to take the consequences of revealing those names upon himself. The soldiers and the adjutant standing in front of him knew this, which was why they were so grief-stricken. And such leverage was indeed enough for Rune to let the soldiers go.

"Does this officer have any family?" Rune asked, looking at the man who was bundled up tightly. Judging by his appearance, he seemed like a sycophantic villain, but it turned out he was a good person. He reflected on this in his mind; he shouldn't judge people by their appearances like that in the future.

"What do you want?" The sound of guns being cocked could even be heard from the surrounding area, but Rune ignored their threats. To Rune, the guns in their hands were nothing more than firewood sticks.

"Do you really think your boss will let him get away with this?" Rune continued without turning around. "I mean, if I were your boss, even if he were dead, I'd have plenty of ways to deal with his relatives and friends. I happen to be going to America soon anyway, so I could help out."

After saying this, the soldiers looked at each other, and finally the adjutant spoke up: "Our officer... is an orphan. He has no family, and his friends... seem to be only his former comrades." The adjutant hesitated for a moment, then added, "But his former comrades actually..."

He didn't continue, but Rune sighed. No wonder he could decide to commit suicide so easily, no wonder his superiors trusted him so much, no wonder he was so good to his comrades...

"Alright, you can choose to stay or leave." Rune nodded, then added after a moment's thought, "After you leave, you can report me directly. Remember to tell them that I will personally go after each of them, and those mentioned will all die. But you have to turn off the device that releases the magnetic field here first."

He was too lazy to play hide-and-seek with those high-ranking officials. He simply ordered the soldiers to declare war on them, let them send out their troops first, and then search their memories to find their superiors. Wouldn't that be wonderful? But before that, he had to evacuate all the wizards to avoid any accidental injuries.

The adjutant hesitated for a long time before finally saying, "Um, we don't know which thing is the magnetic field generator..."

Rune glanced at the adjutant and sighed. The soldiers earlier clearly hadn't considered this device either; it seemed the magnetic field-emitting device was indeed a secret. He could only have the wizards take the children to the core area and Apparate away.

"Then let's wait a little while before leaving."

Rune re-entered the laboratory. It was a mess inside, but upon seeing Rune re-enter, they immediately straightened up and bowed respectfully to him. One of the male wizards even whispered, "Greetings, Chief."

How come I didn't know I had become their leader?

Rune remained silent, causing a sudden silence to fall over the room, creating an awkward moment. At this crucial moment, Misha stepped forward.

"We wish to follow you," she said respectfully. "You saved us from this hell, and we are willing to do anything for you, only asking that you take us in."

The most handsome boy in the room fell silent for a moment, weighing the pros and cons.

The most direct benefit of taking in these followers is that I can acquire the unique magic they each possess.

No one knows how many spells exist in the entire Harry Potter world. For example, Professor Lockhart met a wizard last school who might have possessed a spell to turn a werewolf back into a human. Unfortunately, Professor Lockhart was only interested in the wizard's adventures, so after learning about them, he cast a spell on him to make him forget everything.

At the same time, considering the debt of saving their lives, their loyalty is also guaranteed to a certain extent. Rune can have them help him collect medicine recipes or magic.

However, the drawbacks were also obvious. An organization cannot function without money, and Rune's only money was the prize money from the Order of Merlin. The initial prize money was a full thousand Galleons, but he later invested three hundred Galleons in the Fred brothers' prank shop, at which point the Fred brothers hadn't even decided on a name for the shop yet.

The remaining seven hundred Galleons seems like a lot, but considering the popularity of Eastern potions, the prices of magical creature bones, genitals, and previously uncommon ginseng have all increased, especially the latter two, whose prices have almost multiplied dozens of times. If Rune wants to try brewing certain potions, this money is necessary, so he'll need to prepare at least four or five hundred Galleons. And considering unforeseen circumstances, he should also prepare one hundred Galleons in advance…

So Rune hesitated and said, "Um, I might not have enough money to keep an organization running..."

As soon as he uttered those words, Rune knew he had made a mistake. The adult wizards present, all of whom had received magical education, blushed deeply, and several of them exclaimed things like "Incomprehensible, incomprehensible!" as if they had been insulted.

Misha moved closer to Rune, took his hand while he was still in a daze, and then gently kissed the back of his hand.

"We didn't gather under your banner for money..." The witch didn't look very old, probably only in her early twenties. Perhaps the long hours of torture in the laboratory had made her thin, with slightly sunken cheeks, but her eyes were bright and piercing, revealing a resolute spirit: "It's because we believe you will save other wizards in the same way you saved us."

Misha's actions calmed all the wizards present. Like the other wizards, she stared intently at Rune and asked one last question: "I want to ask you, do you want to save the other wizards?"

Rune nodded, but his motivation for saving the other wizards wasn't exactly noble. To be honest, he didn't really have any compelling reason to participate in rescuing the wizards. Rita was dead, but others could help him find magic; these wizards were dead, but their relatives hadn't caused any trouble in the magical world during this long period, and it certainly wouldn't affect him.

But Rune did it anyway, because he possessed the power to easily crush the world. His nine years of compulsory education and moral compass told him that such inhumane methods should be abolished. Having spent his entire life as a Muggle and now a wizard for several years, he believed the relationship between wizards and Muggles shouldn't be like this.

Of course, the former is the most important.

"That's enough. I beg to follow you. You are our savior." Misha bowed respectfully again, but did not raise her head after bowing.

Then the wizards bowed one by one and said, "I beg to follow you, Savior."

They didn't raise their heads, but waited quietly for Rune's response.

Rune was silent for a moment, then nodded and said, "Okay."

Since I'm just killing time anyway, I might as well cause some chaos in the world of Harry Potter.

And let them find some more magic.
