Tiramisu, coconut cake, butter cookies, and all sorts of other delicious treats gathered together for a meeting, while milk tea and fruit juice lurked in the background, eyeing the food with predatory intent.
"Are you guys planning to have a study session? Do you want to join us?" Misunderstanding everyone's intentions, Mochizuki Oboro was the first to suggest, "I can also bring a few people over."
Typhon and Lilith's grades are in danger; if no action is taken, they'll have to remain comrades-in-arms at summer school.
Nero leaned forward slightly, looking left and right, but he couldn't find the iconic red pattern on Mochizuki Oboro's hand.
Strange, they were all here when I greeted them a week ago, why can't I see them today?
"?" Mochizuki Oboro was puzzled, her brows furrowing slightly, completely baffled as to why Nero was suddenly so interested in her hands.
"What about the Command Seals?" Nero asked bluntly.
"..."
"Where are the Command Seals?" Nero pressed closer again, her small, delicate face almost touching Mochizuki Oboro's, their noses less than a centimeter apart.
Mochizuki Oboro tilted her head back slightly and met Kiyohime's gaze.
Kiyohime unfolded her fan, covering the lower half of her face: "It's alright, please speak freely. As long as you remain honest, I can accept whatever the truth may be."
"It was used on Meltryllis."
Chapter 249 Heroes of the World Like Street Cleaners Crossing the River
All strategies have been exhausted.
Man proposes, God disposes. The smug Lord Nero had arranged everything perfectly, but he forgot the most important thing: to ask Mochizuki Oboro if she still had any Command Seals.
Everyone silently enjoyed their desserts. The intensity of the tutoring that followed was predictable, so replenishing their energy now was the most realistic approach.
Equivalent exchange. Since they usually play so carefree and don't care about their studies at all, they should bear the pressure of exam questions when the time comes.
It is the privilege of a few gifted individuals who don't care much about studying and indulge in games during the week, yet still manage to pass exams smoothly. Most students struggle painfully between entertainment and academics, wavering between the two.
Epsilon unconsciously stirred the drink in his glass, staring blankly at the swirling vortex; Typhon simply buried his head in his arms, trying to escape reality.
It feels like the midterm exams were just yesterday, how come it's already the final exams?
As expected, Castor's ambitious study plan was completely scrapped, and not a single one of them was actually implemented.
"If you don't sprint now, you're doomed!"—This is the little figure on the left side of her ear. She has a halo above her head, and her voice is urgent.
"It's too late to start tutoring now, you might as well play more"—this is the little figure on the right side of her ear. She lies lazily on a cloud, her voice languid yet alluring.
“Let’s study together. If I study alone, I’ll most likely reach for my phone and waste the whole week without even realizing it.” Ipsyon said wearily, at his wit’s end. “I should have studied a little more beforehand. I wouldn’t be in such a panic now.”
Medea, relaxed and carefree, seemed oblivious to these worries. She lightly tapped the table with her fingertips and asked in a cheerful tone, "Where shall we hold our study session?"
Eri leaned back in her chair and said, "Quiet, nice atmosphere, and plenty of space, where else could it be?"
“Let’s go to Camelot,” Mochizuki Oboro said spontaneously.
"Leave the snacks and drinks to me." This is a job that the Wild Boar Princess is very professional and suited for.
And so began the death charge before the final exams.
Every war inevitably has winners and losers... Which side will be sacrificed this time?
[—Based on the results of the last meeting, Meltryllis and Kazuradrop have both gone to optimize the system modules, and I will be acting as the announcer during this period.]
BB is trash, Meltryllis is carefree, Kazuradrop is lively and cheerful, and the current Passionlip is too serious, to the point of having a slightly chuunibyou (adolescent delusions of grandeur) feel.
……
There are eight days left until the final exams.
Due to the large number of participants, the study session was divided into two zones.
Typhon, Arcueid, Lilith, Abigail, Mochizuki Oboro, and Mary form one group, while Kiyohime, Caster, Reines, Medea, Draco, and Eri are in the second group.
Arcueid and Lilith's knowledge base has reached a pitiful level, requiring guidance from the student council president. Mochizuki Oboro, at a mid-to-high level, can provide some guidance to Typhon, while Abigail's progress is actually quite slow; she can handle most of the topics on her own, and only needs to ask Marie for help with anything else.
The higher-level group was the hardest hit. Reines and Medea had to mentor Kiyohime, Draco, and Castor at the same time, while Eri, who was of above-average skill level like her older brother, provided assistance and filled in any gaps in their own abilities.
Living room, one set.
Typhon, Arcueid, Lilith, Abigail, Mochizuki Oboro, and Mary sat around a large coffee table or sofa. Textbooks, notebooks, and test papers were spread out on the coffee table, and a pen holder lay askew to one side, with several pens rolling out.
“This one, this one, and this one.” Lilith pointed.
Mary hummed in agreement: "And then?"
“I didn’t learn any of them~~” Lilith playfully raised her hands, a bright and slightly smug smile blooming on her face, and her body swayed slightly in sync.
His grasp of world culture, literature, mathematics, and geography is practically zero.
Lady Lilith basically doesn't study. Since she gets assigned Servants anyway, she's fearless and spends all her energy on leisure and entertainment, though she does learn some skills that interest her.
For example, cooking, housekeeping, singing, and dancing. University student Lilith also plans to drag Mochizuki Oboro along to learn some mysterious activity skills.
Tiphon, sitting next to her, rested her chin on one hand, while unconsciously twirling a pen in the other, her gaze somewhat unfocused. Only a few lines of writing were scribbled in the notebook in front of her.
She was a little better than Lilith, but not by much. She barely studied, spending her time in class passing notes or whispering to Mochizuki Oboro. The little knowledge she had came entirely from the last Death Charge, which she had almost completely forgotten by now.
The main purpose of studying is to get a good job, but the follower has no worries about job hunting, so what is the point of working so hard?
Typhon's mind was filled with these "heretical" ideas.
Where is Arcueid?
"Weren't you here to play VR today?"
Arcueid didn't actually hear what Mochizuki Oboro was saying at the time; she only knew that everyone was coming and thought they were just relaxing by playing games before the exam.
"..." x3
Time is tight and the task is heavy. The president doesn't have time to explain the basic knowledge one by one, so he can only highlight the key points first.
Meanwhile, Abigail and Mochizuki Oboro have entered "retirement mode." Both of them are average students, and if they study diligently this week, they should be able to pass the exam.
"Do you like reading, senior?" Abigail asked while taking notes.
"I only like certain types of books, such as art, literature, and sculpture. I'm not very interested in math and science." Mochizuki Oboro replied, "When I was a child, I presumptuously tried to explore the beauty of mathematics and physics, but I failed."
Meanwhile, in the bedroom, group two.
Reines tapped the whiteboard and adjusted her glasses: "We don't have much time. Just focus on the basic and intermediate questions. Forget about the difficult ones."
In any country or region, passing an exam isn't too difficult. You don't need to work consistently; just don't let yourself get too carried away with playing around.
It's a real shame. If these people had paid a little more attention to their grades, they wouldn't be here for a study session now.
“I think it’s necessary to establish timely rewards as feedback, otherwise it will be difficult to persist,” Kiyohime raised her hand in agreement.
"So I prepared all sorts of snacks," Caster agreed.
“I think the rewards you’re talking about are two different things,” Draco said, hugging a large Snorlax plushie.
Eri yawned and propped her head up with one hand: "Let's be honest, how many people want to go to my brother's place for a reward?"
Private First Class Kiyohime steps forward. Private Medea steps forward.
“Cast and Draco have no ideas… Oh well, they’ll all get dragged into this eventually, just like Abigail and Medea.” Eri stood up and stretched. “Let’s begin.”
Chapter 250: The Tragic Finale
Under the pale light, exercise books and scattered draft papers almost covered the desk, and the oppressive air was filled with the scratching sound of pencils rubbing against paper and faint sighs. For most people, studying is a long and painful ordeal.
The unseen feedback is like a dull knife cutting flesh, slowly eroding what little energy I have left; before me lies an endless sea of problems, with not even the outline of the other side visible...
Before starting tutoring, Ti Fong thought that mastering the basic and intermediate question types shouldn't be too difficult, but after studying for several hours, she became increasingly anxious.
There are always parts of the knowledge I haven't mastered, and I can't solve the problems no matter how I try. It's as if I'm just not cut out for learning.
"I can not make it."
Typhon slumped down on the sofa, pen falling to the ground, completely ignoring her carefully styled hair and clothes. Only her abdomen, rising and falling with her breath, showed that she was still alive.
Geography seems to be working against her; even with effort, there's no guarantee of reward. The seemingly correct options are always wrong, while the strange and unusual ones are the answers that fit the question.
The phrase Mary repeated most often when explaining geography problems to Typhon was, "It must be relevant to the question."
"Let's take a rest first," Mary sighed wearily.
Even top students who excel in all subjects feel powerless when facing Arcueid and Lilith, two ultimate geniuses. Explaining something to others is much harder than learning it yourself.
Upon hearing the news that get out of class was over, Arcueid immediately raised her hand and cheered, "Great!"
"Are you spacing out?" Mochizuki Oboro, who was leaning against the sofa, turned her head to look at Lilith, who was staring blankly at her.
Lilith shook her head: "I'm thinking about the feasibility of skipping tutoring during the summer vacation." This one is beyond saving.
After an hour of mental torture, Miss Lilith and Miss Typhon were both exhausted, but Arcueid remained unaffected and optimistic.
The door creaked open, signaling the end of get out of class for Group Two of the study session. The girls, feeling utterly listless, opened the door and stumbled out of their bedrooms.
[Skills "Charm of the Source (B)" and "Floral Splendor (A)" have been activated. The additional attribute "Charm (B)" remains active.]
Epsilon didn't even have the strength to greet anyone. He dragged himself to the sofa where Mochizuki Oboro was sitting, made a muffled murmur, and then his body went limp. He accurately rested his head on Mochizuki Oboro's lap and peacefully closed his eyes.
Following closely behind, Kiyohime followed suit, gracefully occupying half of the space next to Mochizuki Oboro.
"You might as well drown in this pile of cosmetics." Eri opened a bag of Oreos. "Next time, remember not to look back when the water boils."
"I don't think I'll end up with a woodcutter's axe." Mochizuki Oboro naturally raised her hand, her fingertips running through Kiyohime's soft, long hair, stroking her fur like she was petting a small animal.
Castor, carrying a half-full bag of snacks, entered the living room to spread the good news. The boar princess was used to the sight before her.
Replenishing sugar after mental work is essential; it can significantly restore one's SAN (sanity level) and improve mood.
With a lollipop in his mouth and his cheeks bulging, Draco asked, "Strange, where are Medea and Abigail?"
"I went to the kitchen to tinker." Castor dumped a mountain of snacks from the bag onto the coffee table. "We academic underachievers should just stick to our textbooks."
Potato chips, French fries, biscuits, drinks, sunflower seeds, peanuts... Caster's purchases were a bit outrageous.
After an hour of last-minute cramming, the results were far from reassuring; they completely crushed any remaining fighting spirit.
Even if I spend this whole week, whether I can pass the exam is still uncertain; only heaven knows. But if I don't get tutoring, I definitely won't pass. I didn't have a choice from the start.
Suddenly, Typhon suffered a sudden attack of illness, abruptly stood up, grabbed Mochizuki Oboro by the neck, and began shaking her violently: "Why don't we just drop out of school! It'll save us from wasting time! Servants never have trouble finding jobs anyway! Camelot has even assigned you a house! Just retire!"
"Sister, if that happens, you won't even get a high school diploma; your education will only be junior high school," Ipsilon reminded her, barely opening one eye.
Tifon, who had gone mad, said without a care in the world, "So what if we graduated from junior high school! We don't need to care about what other people think!"
……
The clock ticked away, slowly slipping to 7:30.
The grueling study session, comparable in intensity to a world war, came to an end. Not a single person wore a smile as the session concluded.
Due to the extremely heavy workload, even those of above-average ability like Abigail, Eri, and Mochizuki Oboro had to join the fray, racking their brains to tutor Caster and the others. Even so, the current progress can hardly be described as optimistic.
"Don't want to study anymore? My summer vacation? Don't want to study anymore? My summer vacation? Don't want to study anymore? My summer vacation? Don't want to study anymore? My summer vacation?"
The mindset of Ipsilon and others fluctuated back and forth.
Camelot Entertainment Center, restaurant area.
The wild boar princess ate her meal as if seeking revenge, with bowls and plates of all sizes piled up like a small mountain in front of her.
At this point, Castor seems to have selectively ignored his initial ambition when he came to Chaldea: to at least be on par with his two older sisters.
Artoria and Morgan never worried about their grades when they were in school. Only the third child, Castor, had a genetic mutation and failed a course as soon as he entered Finis Academy.
The allure of modern cities was too great, he wasn't feeling his best while doing the problems, his pen was stuck with ink, and he hadn't slept well due to too much stress the night before—he could come up with as many excuses as he wanted, but they were only good for fooling himself.
The intense sense of shame made Custer secretly vow to turn things around next semester.
She's going to work hard quietly this summer, and then amaze everyone when school starts!
"I don't know."
Typhon chewed on his grilled meat, his voice slightly muffled: "I've never seen you study before. You spend your free time doing research and volunteering. How come your grades are still above average?"
This remains a mystery. Mochizuki Oboro was just as unrestrained as Tsutsumi, and he spent most of his time practicing drawing during class, rarely paying attention in class.
“Because I was lucky.” Mochizuki Oboro opened her mouth to accept Kiyohime’s feeding: “The only reason Caster failed was because she didn’t learn her second sister’s intuition.”
"Ugh...!"
A tear rolled down Castor's cheek as he retaliated by taking all the meat slices that Mochizuki had grilled.
