"Is the case solved?" Matsuda guessed.
“Hmm,” Sato nodded with a smile, then added with a hint of resentment, “Unfortunately, it wasn’t the police who uncovered the truth, but a high school detective.”
"Is it that Shinichi Kudo again?" Matsuda asked.
"Yeah, it's him again!" Sato snorted irritably. "I don't know if that guy is lucky or unlucky, but he always seems to run into cases."
Of course, Shinichi Kudo is the Grim Reaper of this world!
Matsuda sighed inwardly.
Compared to himself, a so-called ghost messenger, Shinichi Kudo was much more prestigious, practically causing death wherever he went.
……
A week later, when Matsuda saw the headline in the newspaper, "High school detective Shinichi Kudo solves another case, roller coaster murder perfectly resolved," he was stunned.
Damn, how could I forget about that!
Matsuda slapped his head in frustration. Time in the Conan world was incredibly strange. It was impossible to determine whether a case had occurred based on the date, not to mention that Matsuda had long forgotten about many of the cases.
As for the roller coaster murder case, Matsuda hasn't forgotten this classic case that indirectly led to Shinichi Kudo becoming a death god elementary school student.
But while he was still recovering in the hospital, he had clearly missed his chance to stop the wheel of fate from turning.
……
Three years later, when Matsuda walked back into the Metropolitan Police Department, he felt that everything around him seemed almost the same as it had been back then, except for those guys who kept staring at him and whispering.
and also……
Matsuda suddenly turned around, slammed his arms against the wall, and wrapped his arms around a pretty girl who had been following him since the beginning.
“You’re… a patrol officer,” Matsuda glanced at the girl’s uniform, “Why are you following me?”
The pretty girl was stunned for a moment. Seeing Matsuda's handsome face at such close range made her blush.
However, this shyness only lasted for a moment before the girl smiled and asked, "As a member of the Metropolitan Police Department, is it wrong for me to be curious about the heroes of the Metropolitan Police Department?"
Chapter 3 Yumi, who loves to joke
The title of "Metropolitan Police Department Hero" was given to Matsuda by the media three months ago.
After learning that Officer Matsuda, who sacrificed himself to save Beika Central Hospital in the Ferris wheel incident three years ago, had woken up, the media really harassed him for a while.
He was constantly being labeled a hero of the Metropolitan Police Department and the conscience of the Metropolitan Police Department.
For reasons unknown, the Metropolitan Police Department actually acknowledged Matsuda's title as a hero of the Metropolitan Police Department in front of the media.
With so much hype surrounding it, Matsuda was almost unable to focus on rehabilitation. He was constantly either giving media interviews or dealing with enthusiastic crowds.
Fortunately, this only lasted for a little over half a month. When a celebrity was caught having an affair, the media immediately shifted their focus.
Matsuda, the hero of the Metropolitan Police Department, also saw his status decline rapidly. In just two or three days, his popularity faded and he became forgotten.
Matsuda didn't care about this at all; in fact, he was somewhat relieved.
He simply couldn't stand the life of being stared at wherever he went.
Since the hype died down, Matsuda had been quiet for more than two months and had almost forgotten about it. But on his first day back at work, he heard the name again.
"Please, don't shout like that again,"
After realizing it was just a misunderstanding, Matsuda shrugged and was about to lower his arm.
Unexpectedly, someone next to her exclaimed, "So Yumi, you have a boyfriend?"
Ok?
Matsuda turned his head in confusion and saw a young man with an honest face who looked easy to bully standing next to him.
Yumi blinked, as if she remembered something, and suddenly the corners of her mouth turned up, revealing a mischievous smile.
She suddenly wrapped her arms around Matsuda's neck, their faces close together, and then tilted her head to ask, "So, Takagi, aren't we really a good match?"
"So, you were a hero from the Metropolitan Police Department, Matsuda-senpai!"
Takagi clearly remembered the report from more than two months ago. Although he had never met Matsuda, he recognized him through the television reports and newspapers he had seen before.
After a moment of panic and confusion, Takagi finally raised his hand and saluted Matsuda.
"Matsuda-senpai, my name is Takagi Wataru. I have great respect for your selfless act of saving the hospital three years ago. I hope you will take good care of me in the future!"
Matsuda was somewhat exasperated and was about to remind Takagi not to bring it up again when he heard a sudden cough behind him.
"Cough cough!"
It was Sato!
With a dark expression, she looked at the three people in front of her: "Takagi, Matsuda is just a patrol chief, you don't need to be so polite to him!"
After teaching Takagi a lesson, Sato turned his attention to Matsuda.
"And this hero of the Metropolitan Police Department, it's already working hours. If you have personal matters to attend to, please do so after get off work!"
After saying that, Sato stormed off in her high heels.
"Officer Sato, why do you seem angry?" Takagi asked innocently.
"Hahaha……"
Yumi Miyamoto was already laughing so hard she was doubled over, clutching her stomach.
“You did this on purpose…” Matsuda looked at Yumi helplessly.
"Sorry, I just wanted to tease Takagi, but I didn't expect..." Yumi said, then couldn't help but laugh again.
"This is terrible!" Matsuda covered his face and walked towards the First Investigation Division with a helpless expression.
What is the relationship between Officer Matsuda and Officer Sato?
Takagi glanced at Yumi, who was laughing so hard she was bent over, and then at Matsuda, who was leaving. He swallowed back the question that was already on the tip of his tongue.
……
As soon as Matsuda pushed open the door to the Third Investigation Division's office, he was met with the kind gazes of many middle-aged police officers.
These guys don't seem to have changed much; they're still the same as they were three years ago...
Matsuda looked around, trying to see if he knew anyone, and then... he gave up.
Three years ago, during his seven days in the First Investigative Division, the only people he remembered were Megure and Sato, one being his superior and the other a rare beauty.
However, Matsuda had no recollection of these police officers, even though they had been talking about him for three years.
"Welcome back, Officer Matsuda!"
A bald middle-aged man stepped forward and put his arm around Matsuda.
He used so much force that Matsuda even wondered if he was trying to strangle himself to death.
"Welcome back, hero of the Warning Hall!" This time it was a middle-aged man with a buzz cut.
"Welcome back, you bastard that Miwako has been thinking about!"
"Welcome back, you bastard who kidnapped Miwako!"
"Welcome back, you bastard who's so handsome!"
……
Fortunately, Inspector Megure arrived in time and rescued Matsuda, who was being "warmly welcomed" by the police officers.
"Not bad, after three years, you can still get along so well with your colleagues." Inspector Megure laughed heartily.
Which eye of yours saw that we got along well?
This is clearly workplace bullying!
Matsuda, who was "kindly" surrounded by the crowd, quickly squeezed out.
These guys are really ruthless. They're giving him bear hugs, and if this continues for a while, his sternum is probably going to break.
"Yes, we have a really good relationship."
Matsuda rubbed his chest, gave Inspector Megure a casual reply, and then turned to go find his desk.
It's pretty good, basically the same as it was three years ago. And the desktop is very clean, without a speck of dust. Sato must clean it every day.
Sitting in his seat, Matsuda thought to himself with a sense of satisfaction.
Unexpectedly, the bearded policeman next to him suddenly said, "By the way, Matsuda, I've been wiping your table for three years now. You should treat me to a meal sometime."
Dry……
Matsuda's good mood was shattered once again!
Seeing Inspector Megure still wandering around the office, he said irritably, "Inspector, is there something else?"
“Yes.” Inspector Megure nodded. “I’m looking for Takagi. There are still some issues with the statement from the roller coaster case a few days ago, and I’d like him and Sato to go and get it checked.”
And Sato?
Matsuda immediately stood up and said earnestly, "Inspector, please leave this to me! I haven't worked for three years, so let me handle this simple matter first. It'll also give me a chance to get back into the swing of things!"
“That’s fine,” Inspector Megure handed the documents to Matsuda. “Sato seems to be in the parking lot. You can just go there.”
……
In Sato's beloved red Mazda, Matsuda tapped the documents in his hand lightly, saying casually, "Actually, this morning was all..."
"It's a misunderstanding. Yumi has already told me."
Sato seemed to know what he was going to say, and said it somewhat shyly.
That girl still has a conscience...
Matsuda breathed a sigh of relief: "By the way, is there a problem with this statement? Do we really have to make a special trip to the detention center?"
Chapter 4 The Mentally Deranged Little Tong
“It’s Prosecutor Kujo’s idea,” Sato explained. “There are some parts in the transcript that she thinks need to be confirmed with the prisoner, otherwise the lawyers might take advantage of the situation in court, but…” “But what?”
Seeing Sato hesitate, Matsuda asked curiously.
