Chapter 226 The Arrival of the Aurors

"Levin Green, how dare you..." Snape felt utterly humiliated being tied up like this by Levin. "Let me go, or else..."

“Ah, Professor, I think you’d better shut up.” Levin pursed his lips and pointed at him with his wand.

"【Tongue Lock and Throat Seal】!"

Snape was treated the same way as his students.

Seeing Blake's gloating expression ahead, the old bat's face turned ashen.

He was actually defeated by a child in front of his mortal enemy, and ended up tied up like this...

Just as the two were awkwardly staring at each other, Levin suddenly pulled out a mirror and said something.

Then he took out his wand and began to cast a spell.

Suddenly, a portal appeared in front of Levin.

A woman with pink hair, wearing a brown overcoat and uniform, stepped out of the door first.

Next came six people wearing the same uniform as her.

It was the Aurors from the Ministry of Magic.

They followed behind the pink-haired female Auror, clearly following her lead.

Levin went to meet her and embraced the female Auror.

“Your portal spell is really convenient,” Tonks praised Levin. “When it first appeared, they were all stunned and none of them dared to go in.”

The Aurors looked at each other, all feeling quite awkward, and didn't respond to the conversation.

Suddenly, a young Auror exclaimed, "Oh! Merlin's fattest underpants! That's Sirius Black, what's going on?"

“And this one, isn’t that Professor Snape? What’s going on here?” another young Auror asked.

"Quiet down. Now that the captain has brought us here, we'll find out why," another middle-aged wizard said sternly, clearly displeased with his companion's overreaction.

The Aurors shut their mouths and stared intently at Tonks at the front.

"So, where is that person you're talking about?" Tonks asked, waving his hand as he spoke.

Two Aurors immediately approached Sirius Black and Professor Snape, drew their wands, and looked at them warily.

Levin had told Jaina and the others about Sirius and Peter Pettigrew during the Christmas holidays, so Tonks had been waiting for news from Levin.

Levin captured Peter Pettigrew and immediately contacted Tonks.

So Tonks immediately sprang into action, quickly organizing his squad of Aurors, and rushed over as soon as Levin's portal opened.

After signaling everyone to get ready, Levin waved his hand and summoned a gray rat with a missing tuft of fur from a corner. The rat was struck by Levin's [Monster Immobilization Spell] and couldn't move.

Levin raised his hand and released the control, and the rat immediately regained consciousness.

It was momentarily stunned, then looked around and, finding itself surrounded by uniformed Aurors, immediately panicked.

It took a step forward, then retreated as if it had seen a ghost.

However, in its rat form, it was far too small, and Tonks, who was prepared, easily controlled it with the [Levitation Charm].

It started screaming incessantly, twisting and turning, struggling desperately.

"Looks like this is it?" Tonks asked, turning his head.

Levin nodded. "Ready, Tonks?"

Tonks nodded.

Levin glanced at Sirius again, and his moist eyes suddenly seemed to burn with passion.

"Then, now, it's time to witness a miracle... I mean, the truth!"

Levin pointed his wand at the mouse.

"[Revealing the True Face!]!"

Levin's wand emitted a beam of blue light, and for a moment, Scabbers stopped in mid-air, its small gray body twisting wildly.

The mouse landed on the ground, followed by another dazzling flash, and then one by one...

It's like a fast-forwarded view of tree growth:

A head appeared on the ground, and four limbs stretched out;

A little while later, a man stood where Banban had been, trembling and wringing his hands.

This person was very short, even shorter than Levin.

His thin, light-colored hair was disheveled, and he had a large bald patch on top.

His appearance resembled that of an obese person who had lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time.

His skin looked very dirty, almost like mottled fur, and his pointed nose and watery little eyes had the characteristics of a mouse.

He looked at everyone, his breathing rapid and weak.

His eyes glanced towards the door, then quickly looked away.

"This is... Peter Pettigrew?" The middle-aged Auror had just warned his junior to stay calm, but now he exclaimed in surprise.

However, no one cared about his actions, because everyone was surprised.

Bound to the ground, Snape witnessed everything, his eyes wide with disbelief.

With his intelligence, he instantly understood that since Peter was indeed alive, many of the things Levin and Black mentioned in their conversation were probably true.

The culprit behind Lily's death was someone else entirely.

At this moment, Sirius Black wished he could rush up and bite Peter to death.

However, Levin had left a deep impression on him, and after being warned by the boy's glare, he forcibly suppressed his anger.

Peter Pettigrew looked around, trying to figure out what the situation was, why he had been singled out, and how much these people knew about him.

His lowered eyes darted around as he pondered how to weave a lie to explain why he was still alive.

But before he could say anything, Levin treated him the same as Snape without hesitation—this time, there was no artistry; Levin simply summoned vines to bind him tightly.

Facing the Aurors' gazes, Levin explained simply, "...You can all look at his index finger. Not only is he an illegal Animagus, but he also faked his death and escaped. That alone makes him highly suspicious."

Levin's words evoked everyone's memories.

Thirteen years ago, people received news that Sirius Black had blown up a street, and Peter Pettigrew had died on the spot, leaving behind only a finger.

If what Levin just said is true, it means that he deliberately left the finger there so that he could fake his death.

But why would he do this?

This is where the big problem lies.

Perhaps someone else was responsible for blowing up the streets, and that person could very well be Peter right here in front of us!

“You…you don’t believe him, do you?” Peter finally broke his silence, speaking urgently in a shrill voice, “You should catch him! He’s with Sirius, he wants to kill me…”

The middle-aged wizard glanced at Levin, then at Tonks, and wisely remained silent.

He recognized Levin; this young boy had killed a chimera at a young age, earned the Order of Merlin First Class, and participated in the dragon-slaying quest—the one in Liverpool, which he had witnessed firsthand—and how enormous that dragon was.

He didn't want to offend such a young and powerful wizard.

Moreover, these Aurors were summoned by the other side themselves.

In fact, he knew very well that the capture of Peter Pettigrew had already been decided. He had witnessed it firsthand, and it wasn't even Squad Leader Tonks who made the decision, but rather higher-ranking officials.

Their trip was just a formality.

Whether Peter Pettigrew is truly innocent is not something they should be considering.

Therefore, all the Aurors simply stared intently at Peter, remaining silent.

The Aurors only wanted to obey orders, but Peter Pettigrew saw them as a lifeline.

"He's back to kill me again!" Peter Pettigrew suddenly screamed, pointing at Black with his middle finger, since his index finger was broken. "He killed Lily and James, and now he's trying to kill me... You're Aurors, you have to help me!"

Black stared at Peter Pettigrew with his unfathomable eyes, his face looking even more skeletal than before.

“With us here, no one will kill you,” Tonks said. “But we need to get some things sorted out.”

"Get to the bottom of this?" Peter Pettigrew screamed, glancing around frantically again, his eyes landing on the Whomping Willow. "I know he's after me! I know he's coming back for me! I've been waiting for this for twelve years!"

“Did you know Sirius Black would escape Azkaban?” Tonks asked, frowning. “Haven’t we never seen anyone escape before?”

“He has dark magic that the rest of us can only dream of!” Little Pettigrew shrieked. “Otherwise, how could he have escaped from there? I suspect that person whose name we can’t even mention taught him some tricks!”

Peter Pettigrew screamed his heart out, and what he said seemed to make a lot of sense.

But the middle-aged wizard thought of what had happened before he set off.

He was on duty in the Auror office when he suddenly saw Tonks rush in and loudly announce that there was an urgent mission.

After collecting their equipment, they left the office and saw Deputy Director Jaina reporting to Minister of Magic Fudge in the corridor:

"There's good news, Minister. Sirius Black has been found near Hogwarts. But there's an unexpected twist: the informant also discovered that Peter Pettigrew is still alive. Something seems amiss about what happened back then—Mr. Crouch may have made a grave mistake."

"So what do you mean?"

He will never forget Fudge's expression at that moment.

It was an expression that went from astonishment to ecstasy, and finally to a calmness that was forcibly suppressed.

“I think the capture mission should be carried out by the Aurors, not the Dementors,” was Ms. Proudmoore’s reply. “Perhaps we can learn some truths that were not discovered back then.”

Fudge nodded in agreement.

Fudge, like him, probably realized the problem after hearing about it: Peter Pettigrew had too many flaws.
