Chapter 16 My Shadow Has a Bad Temper
Chapter 16 My Shadow Has a Bad Temper
A huge gray gecko was clinging to the wall; it was incomplete, resembling a giant that had been cut in half.
The lower body was nowhere to be found, leaving only the fat and bloated upper body clinging tightly to the wall.
His grayish-white skin was covered with mold spots, and with each breath, he secreted a viscous liquid that dripped onto the time clock.
Two huge, murky eyes stared intently at the outer wall of the check-in area, like a pervert crouching in front of the keyhole, greedily sniffing the fear emanating from the other side of the wall.
Lu Dan had no intention of provoking it. As a night shift security guard who just wanted to earn his basic salary, his primary task was to survive, not to give this obviously dangerous monster a pedicure.
He held his breath, preparing to slip away unnoticed. But his shadow clearly had a different idea.
Just as Lu Dan was about to retreat, he suddenly felt a cold, stinging sensation in his left ankle.
Immediately afterwards, the obedient shadow on the ground suddenly stood up. The "roommate" in the shadow seemed to have a severe case of mysophobia and a strong sense of independence, facing the disgusting thing in front of him that kept secreting mucus and making the walls wet.
The female ghost in the shadows was enraged.
Lu Dan watched helplessly as his shadow began to move uncontrollably, its movements both elegant and explosive.
"boom--"
He kicked the gray gecko squarely on the head.
Lu Dan's expression was worse than if he had swallowed a dead fly. In his heart, he was screaming: "Big sister, can't you at least give me a heads-up before you start a fight? I'm just a mortal, I can die!"
The gray gecko, still basking in the thrill of voyeurism, slowly turned its head.
Its two enormous eyes were filled with offended rage, and a crack suddenly appeared below its smooth face, revealing two rows of fine, serrated teeth.
"roar!"
A foul-smelling roar, mixed with saliva, sprayed all over Lu Dan's face.
The gecko's plump body suddenly contracted, and then, like a cannonball, it pounced straight at the ground gall.
A second before the gecko launched its attack, he rolled over lazily, awkwardly but effectively avoiding a head-on collision.
"Boom!"
A loud bang, and debris flew everywhere.
The gecko crashed solidly into the already not-so-sturdy wall.
......
Under the warm, inviting lighting, Lin Xiaoxiao maintained her persona as a caring older sister, holding a pen in her hand, ready to continue recording Li Mu's condition.
"Teacher Lin, the feeling of being watched is getting stronger and stronger, right behind the wall," Li Mu said, his head down and his voice weak.
"Don't be afraid, classmate," Lin Xiaoxiao comforted softly, but she had already pushed the blade of the utility knife away from her hand. "This might just be your imagination. Actually, there's nothing behind the wall..."
Before he finished speaking, the entire wall exploded—literally exploded.
The beige wall that had been adorned with inspirational slogans instantly cracked, sending bricks and cement fragments flying everywhere. The blast wave overturned the desk, sending dust billowing into the air.
Li Mu let out a scream that was a mixture of fear and excitement, and huddled in the chair, trembling.
Lin Xiaoxiao felt her head buzzing.
"Damn it!" Lin Xiaoxiao cursed inwardly, but her body had no choice but to rush forward against her survival instincts.
She shielded the seemingly frail Li Mu behind her, concealing the utility knife in her sleeve, and forced a resolute expression on her face: "Li Mu, don't be afraid, your teacher is here."
Her voice was almost cracking, both to embolden herself and to maintain her damned persona.
"Is this a special disaster prevention drill at the school?"
......
Lu Dan in the corridor is engaged in a life-or-death marathon.
After discovering that the land urchin hadn't been hit, the gecko went completely berserk.
It abandoned its attempt to spy on prey inside the wall and used all four limbs to crawl swiftly across the ceiling and walls.
As Lu Dan ran wildly, he could feel the shadow on his left ankle jumping excitedly, as if saying, "One more kick, one more kick."
Ahead lies the long corridor of the teaching building we just walked through, with dozens of students standing on both sides of the corridor, reflecting on their mistakes.
Lu Dan had been very careful when he came over, afraid of disturbing these ancestors, but now these ancestors were his only lifeline.
Since we can't defeat the boss, we can only find some other opponents for the boss; this tactic is called "shifting the blame."
Lu Dan abruptly braked and turned around, standing directly in the center of the group of students facing the wall, facing the giant gecko that was hurtling towards him.
The gecko, blinded by rage, didn't care what was in its path and pounced down with a stench emanating from its gaping maw.
Lu Dan rolled around on the ground again, his whole body like a slippery eel, sliding along the ground and slipping past the gecko's sharp claws.
Unable to stop its enormous body, the gecko, like an out-of-control truck, crashed directly into the group of students who were neatly facing the wall.
Bang bang bang—like a bowling ball hitting the team, seven or eight students facing the wall were knocked away and crashed heavily against the wall, their limbs twisted.
The air in the corridor suddenly became quiet for a second.
Immediately afterwards, a creaking sound of the cervical vertebrae rubbing together rang out.
Dozens of students who had been quietly facing the wall slowly turned around. Their faces were deathly pale, and black tears of blood welled up in their previously empty eyes as they stared intently at the enormous monster that had disrupted their punishment.
"He cut in line..."
He pushed me...
"Bad kids...need to be punished..."
Countless whispers coalesced into a chilling storm, and the students, who had previously appeared stiff and sluggish, suddenly displayed astonishing aggression.
They swarmed forward like a swarm of frantic ants, instantly covering the gecko's entire body.
They used their teeth to bite, their fingers to pick, and even banged their heads against the gecko's wounds.
The gecko let out a piercing scream and frantically shook its body, flinging the students off it, but more and more students kept surging up on it.
This is a carnival between evil spirits.
Lu Dan got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and let out a long sigh. He straightened his crooked hat brim, tightened his grip on the rubber baton, and resumed his security guard demeanor.
Through the swirling dust, he spotted a dark figure on the other side of the ruins.
Behind the dark figure was a student with a numb face, covered in blood, holding a utility knife.
As their eyes met, Lu Dan had a sense of familiarity, but he couldn't care less and ran towards Building B of the teaching building designated by the rules.
......
Lin Xiaoxiao protected Li Mu and kept retreating, it seemed that her guess was correct.
This script should be divided into two worlds, the surface and the interior, where the designers see and experience different things.
But this incident proves that they can alter the terrain of each other's worlds, and perhaps even more...
