Chapter 57 Embarrassing
Morning light streamed through the gaps in the curtains, casting a warm, inviting band of light on the carpet.
Nie Xiguang opened his eyes groggily, his consciousness still in a daze. Just as he was about to turn over and stretch, he was enveloped by a hot, warm feeling from behind.
Yu Chen's arms were wrapped around her waist, not too tightly, his chest pressed against her back, his warm breath falling evenly on her neck, instantly waking her up and making even the tips of her ears burn.
My skin still felt like it was warm from last night, especially that indescribable soreness, which was very noticeable with the slightest movement.
Nie Xiguang's cheeks flushed bright red in an instant, like ripe peaches, and even his breathing became a little rapid.
"Awake?" Yu Chen's voice was hoarse from just waking up, deep and magnetic, like a feather gently tickling the heart.
Yu Chen tightened his arms around her, pulling her closer to him, and nuzzled the top of her head with his nose, his voice full of affection, "Sleep a little longer? You were exhausted last night, you were snoring so softly."
"Who, who's snoring!" Nie Xi's bald head was buried in the soft pillow, not daring to turn around to look at him, her body stiff as a board. "I, I have to get up, I still need to go eat the xiaolongbao you mentioned."
She tried to shift her body slightly, and as soon as she moved, the soreness and swelling below became even more pronounced, causing her to gasp involuntarily.
Yu Chen sensed something was wrong. His large hand, which had been resting on her waist, slid down her waistline and gently landed on her leg, his movements extremely light, as if he were afraid of breaking a precious treasure: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Nie Xiguang's face turned even redder, wishing she could disappear into a crack in the ground. She mumbled, "N-nothing—it's just a little sore, and my legs are weak."
Upon hearing this, Yu Chen instantly realized what was happening, and his movements became even gentler, lightly stroking her thigh with just the right amount of pressure to relieve the soreness: "It's all my fault, I couldn't control myself last night, I was only thinking about myself."
"Lie down a bit more, I'll go buy you breakfast. What do you want to eat? Wuhu steamed buns, shrimp roe noodles, or the braised pork rice you were nagging about yesterday? I'll buy you either way."
"No, no need to buy so much—" Nie Xiguang nestled in Yu Chen's arms, feeling the warmth of his palm. She felt both shy and warm inside, as if she were holding a small heater. "Just some steamed buns and shrimp roe noodles, and a cup of hot soy milk too."
"No problem." Yu Chen carefully let go of her hand, afraid of touching any place that made her uncomfortable. When he got up, he made sure to tuck the blanket in, covering her up completely, even her shoulders. "Lie still and don't move. I'll be back soon. If you're sleepy, go back to sleep."

Watching his retreating figure tiptoe out of the room, Nie Xiguang covered his burning face, but couldn't help but secretly smile.
She lay in bed, looking at the chandelier on the ceiling. The scene from last night kept replaying in her mind, and her cheeks flushed. She quickly closed her eyes and forced herself not to think about it.
The more he tried to restrain himself, the clearer the gentle touches and deep breaths became, and even the soreness and swelling below became exceptionally real.
When Yu Chen returned, he was carrying several lunch boxes.
She also had an insulated bag slung across her shoulder. As she entered, she waved the things in her hand and said, "Look what I bought! Steamed buns, shrimp roe noodles, and a cup of hot soy milk. I specially asked the owner to pack the noodle soup separately. If you don't want it to be too oily, you can have some soup to tide you over first."
After placing the lunchbox on the bedside table, Yu Chen took out some warm soy milk from the insulated bag, tested the temperature, and handed it over: "Drink some warm soy milk first, it won't burn your mouth, and fill your stomach before eating the noodles."
Nie Xiguang sat up, the blanket slipped down, revealing a faint red mark on her shoulder. She subconsciously pulled the blanket up to cover her shoulder, and took the soy milk and sipped it.
The sweet soy milk slid into my stomach, warm and comforting, and even the shyness in my heart faded a little.
Yu Chen sat on the edge of the bed and helped her open the container of steamed buns. Steam immediately billowed out, and a delicious aroma wafted out.
Nie Xiguang ate in small bites, her cheeks still flushed, like a little squirrel stealing food, unaware that a little soup had gotten on the corner of her mouth.
Yu Chen watched and couldn't help but laugh. He pulled out a tissue and reached out to wipe her mouth, saying, "Eat slowly. No one's going to take it from you. There's more if you're not full."
"Mmm—delicious." Nie Xiguang said indistinctly, her cheeks puffed out, her eyes sparkling. "It's even fresher than what I've had before."
"This is a time-honored brand in Wuhu. I specifically asked the hotel receptionist to find it."
Yu Chen didn't eat much himself; he mostly watched her, occasionally handing her a tissue or ladling some noodle soup for her. His eyes were overflowing with doting affection.
Only after their relationship progressed further did he realize why so many people are obsessed with love.
That sense of accomplishment that comes from the bottom of your heart is more satisfying than earning any amount of money!
After finishing breakfast, Nie Xiguang wanted to get up to wash up. As soon as he lifted the covers and got out of bed, his legs went weak and he almost fell.
Luckily, I had secretly put on my underwear in bed, so I wasn't too embarrassed.
Yu Chen frowned. "Still not feeling well? How about we just stay at the hotel and rest today, instead of going out?"
"No!" Nie Xiguang quickly waved her hand, blushing as she said, "I'm just a little weak, I'll be fine after a while. We promised to go to the old street and eat red bean rice wine today, you can't go back on your word."
"Silly girl, you can eat anytime, your health is the most important thing." Yu Chen half-supported and half-carried her, slowly walking to the bathroom door, not forgetting to remind her, "Turn the water temperature down, don't use water that's too hot. After you shower, I'll massage your legs, it'll make you feel better."
Nie Xiguang nodded and fled into the bathroom. The moment he closed the door, his cheeks burned with heat.
She looked at herself in the mirror, her cheeks flushed, her eyes glistening with tears, and faint red marks still lingering on her neck. The more she looked, the more embarrassed she became. She quickly turned on the tap, washed her face with warm water, and forced herself to calm down.
When she finished washing up and came out, she saw that Yu Chen had already tidied the room up and the blankets on the bed were neatly folded.
The lunchboxes and insulated bags were all packed up, and a kettle of hot water was even boiled and placed on the bedside table to cool.
But... something seems to be missing?
Nie Xiguang thought about it carefully and then remembered that the bed sheet was missing!
Did he put it away?!
Nie Xiguang's face instantly turned red again.
"Are you feeling better?" Yu Chen came up to her, reaching out to help her, but hesitated for a moment, afraid of touching any uncomfortable spots. In the end, he gently took her hand. "Come on, sit on the sofa, I'll massage your legs."
Nie Xiguang obediently followed him to the sofa and sat down, gently placing her legs on his lap. She didn't dare look into his eyes and could only stare at her toes.
Yu Chen's large hands covered her legs, kneading them with just the right amount of force, taking care of every sore spot from her thighs to her calves, his movements gentle yet professional.
Nie Xiguang squinted comfortably, his tense body gradually relaxed, and the original soreness was relieved a lot.
"How are you? Feeling better?" Yu Chen asked her, looking down at her with concern in his eyes.
"Mmm, that feels much better." Nie Xiguang nodded, looked up at him, and met his gentle gaze. Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly looked away, whispering, "Thank you, Yu Chen."
"Why are you being so polite with me?" Yu Chen smiled, stopped what he was doing, and took her hand. "You've rested enough, shall we set off? First, let's stroll through the old street, have some red bean rice wine, then go see the scenery along the river. Tonight, I'll take you to eat Wuwei roast duck, I promise you'll eat your fill."
At the mention of food, Nie Xiguang's eyes lit up. Forgetting her shyness for the moment, she nodded vigorously, "Okay! Let's go!"
Yu Chen picked up their coats, naturally took her hand, and felt the warmth of her fingertips pass through his palm, a comforting and reassuring sensation.
Nie Xiguang's heart beat faster, but she didn't break free, letting him lead her step by step out of the hotel.
The sun was shining brightly outside, casting a warm glow on the two of them.
The atmosphere of the Chinese New Year was very strong. The streets were bustling with people and filled with the lively atmosphere of fireworks. Various kinds of snacks were displayed on the roadside stalls, and the aroma was irresistible.
Looking at the tall figure beside him and feeling the warmth from his palm, Nie Xiguang felt a sense of peace and sweetness in his heart.
The two walked hand in hand on the old street of Wuhu. The shops along the road were quaint and sold all kinds of local snacks and handicrafts.
Nie Xiguang was like a curious child, looking around and stopping to try any snacks he liked. From red bean rice wine to lotus root starch balls, from crispy sesame cakes to fried stinky tofu, they ate their way through the food until their stomachs were bulging.
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you." Yu Chen smiled and handed her a tissue, wiping her mouth. "If you like it, let's buy some more to take back with you before we leave, so your good friends and Jiang Rui can try some too."
"Okay!" Nie Xiguang nodded, still chewing on a lotus root starch ball, and said indistinctly, "These lotus root starch balls are so delicious, sweet and chewy. I'll bring some back for my aunt too."
The two chatted and laughed as they strolled along, encountering enthusiastic fellow villagers who, seeing them holding hands, jokingly remarked, "You two are such a perfect match! Are you here for tourism? The steamed rice with minced pork in the alley ahead is even better, go try it!"
Nie Xiguang blushed as she was told this, and quickly hid behind Yu Chen, tugging at his sleeve and whispering, "Let's go quickly, don't let them talk about it."
Yu Chen smiled and patted her hand, politely thanked his fellow villager, and then led her forward. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, teasingly, "What's there to be shy about? We're already a couple, and soon we'll be husband and wife."
"Who, who wants to be your husband!" Nie Xiguang retorted, blushing, but couldn't hide the smile on her lips, feeling sweet inside.
The sunlight shone on the two of them, casting long, long shadows that clung tightly together, inseparable.
