Chapter 6 The Granger Family and Fruit Tea
Chapter 6 The Granger Family and Fruit Tea
Vaughn glanced back and saw a thin, serious-looking witch leading a young couple and a little girl out of a narrow archway.
That's the Leaky Cauldron. Vaughn's been there, but unfortunately, the hunchbacked owner, Tom, wouldn't serve him butterbeer.
In his past life, when he read novels, he was very curious about what the taste was like.
The young couple were clearly Muggles because they were dressed in suits and dresses, which was too normal and made them seem out of place in Diagon Alley.
Molly saw them too, and her face immediately lit up with delight as she called out from afar, "Professor McGonagall, Professor McGonagall, Merlin, it's so good to see you!"
Professor McGonagall was obviously familiar with Molly. The Weasleys already had five children enrolled at Hogwarts, all of them from Gryffindor, so it would be hard for them not to know her.
Her serious expression relaxed slightly as she led the Muggle family over: "Mrs. Weasley, are you here to buy school supplies for the children?"
"Yes, Professor McGonagall... Oh, young lady, are you also a new student at Hogwarts this year?"
"That's right, this is Mr. and Mrs. Granger, and their daughter, Hermione Granger, who is also a new student at Hogwarts this year."
Professor McGonagall introduced them, glancing at Vaughn and Ron, but her gaze was mainly focused on Vaughn: "Mrs. Granger, this is Mrs. Weasley and her two sons, Vaughn Weasley and..."
"Ron, Professor McGonagall!"
"...Ron Weasley." Professor McGonagall nodded to Ron, who was shyly hiding behind Molly, her lips pressed tightly together. She quickly looked at Vaughn, a barely perceptible smile appearing on her lips.
She bent down and gently shook hands with Vaughn: "Mr. Weasley, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Me too, Professor McGonagall."
Vaughn smiled politely, then looked behind Professor McGonagall at the reserved Muggle couple who were greeting Molly, and the little girl who was looking at him curiously.
Snapped!
Vaughn snapped his fingers, and a slight magical energy was transmitted outwards.
The girl's long, messy hair hanging down her forehead suddenly floated up like seaweed.
This is just a trivial little trick, it doesn't even require a wand.
But for a Muggle family with little experience, it was clearly amazing enough, and the Grangers covered their mouths in astonishment!
The girl stared wide-eyed, curiously trying to smooth down her floating hair while glancing frequently at Vaughn, eager to rush over and ask him how he did it.
Professor McGonagall coughed a few times: "Ahem, Mrs. Weasley, I still need to take the Grangers to Gringotts to exchange money, so I won't bother you any longer."
As she spoke, she hesitated, then glanced at Vaughn: "Mr. Weasley, I hope you won't try to pull these kinds of tricks in front of other Muggles. You should know that this is strictly prohibited by the Ministry of Magic."
Vaughn nodded with a smile, "Yes, Professor McGonagall!"
As the group left, Hermione Granger was still looking at Vaughn. Vaughn smiled at her, and the little girl paused, her face suddenly turning slightly red.
What a lovely girl!
Vaughn watched the girl, who kept turning back to look at him, walk away, and then he heard Ron mutter impatiently beside him:
"Shouldn't we go buy wands? Ollivander might be crowded today, and we might have to wait in line!"
His mind is completely occupied with the new wand now, as for the Muggle family he just had a chance with...
Who is that? Is he related to me?
Vaughn looked at him strangely, and Ron felt inexplicably flustered, touching his face: "What, what are you looking at?"
"It's nothing, as long as you're happy!"
Ron was overjoyed, as this was his first time in Diagon Alley and he was almost overwhelmed by the sights. Although he was urging to buy a wand, when he passed Florin's Ice Cream Shop, his legs suddenly felt like they were welded to the ground and he couldn't move anymore.
Perhaps they were worried that he would lose his composure if he saw Vaughn buying new books and robes.
Molly, unusually, indulged him by buying him an ice cream.
Holding an ice cream cone, the guy finally calmed down, while Molly took Vaughn to shops like Madam Malkin's Robes Shop and Flourish and Blotts to buy robes, books and utensils.
Fortunately, these shops all offer owl delivery services, saving the family from the embarrassing situation of carrying large and small bags.
"Books, robes, cauldrons, scales... Oh, right, you can also bring a pet. Over there is the Ee-ra Owl Shop and the Magical Zoo. Vaughn, what pet are you planning to buy?"
Looking at Ron, who was still happily munching on his ice cream and completely oblivious to his surroundings, Vaughn said with a wicked grin, "I want a cat."
Ron was stunned, his face turning pale.
He seemed to have already foreseen the miserable life Banban would lead at home in the future.
But... the new wand...
The devil's whispers seduced and howled in his mind, suppressing his resistance along with the ice cream, and he ultimately remained silent.
The Magical Zoo is the largest pet store in Diagon Alley. Except for magical creatures that are prohibited by the Ministry of Magic, you can find almost any pet suitable for wizards here.
Its owner was a witch with thick-rimmed black glasses who warmly welcomed the Weasleys and, upon hearing Vaughn's request, quickly waved her wand and pulled out a string of cages.
"Your choice is very tasteful, Mr. Weasley. Many young wizards don't understand the importance of pets. Their first choice is always an owl, prioritizing functionality over affection, which is frustrating... Oh, look, these are all the cats we currently have. We have a full range of breeds, and I'll let you in on a little secret: many of them have tabby ancestry and are very intelligent!"
Meow~
Those cats were indeed clever; they seemed to know that someone wanted to buy them. Many of them, which had been lying lazily, stood up and meowed softly at Warn.
One of them was a huge guy; while the other cats were at most two feet tall, it was a full four feet tall!
With a robust physique and beautiful fur, its long hair makes it look two or three sizes bigger than other cats. It is also the most active, with its serious face pressed against the cage. When Vaughn reaches out to it, it is even more eager, as if it wants to squeeze out from the gap.
"Oh, Mr. Weasley, it seems this little girl likes you very much. She is a Maine Coon with tabby cat ancestry, currently only bred in the Americas and very rare in Europe."
Vaughn reached out and teased it, and the cat retracted its paws and hugged his fingers with its thick paw pads.
Vaughn liked its docile appearance, especially its fur, which was a mix of orange-red and golden yellow, much like a tea drink he had drunk in his past life.
"That's it!"
After paying, Vaughn led the cat out of the store—the creature was heavy, weighing at least 15 pounds, and its four-foot length made it difficult for Vaughn, who was still underdeveloped, to lift it.
When it appeared in front of Ron, Ron's face grew even paler.
"This...this is a cat?"
Vaughn laughed happily: "Of course it's a cat! I call it Fruit Tea, Fruit Tea! Smell Ron's mouse scent!"
