Chapter 198 Smuggling (Part 2)
Feng Weixu acted immediately, dragging a whiteboard to the open space in the workshop and starting to write and draw on it. Wei Hongsi and Jiang Haiyang each pulled up a chair, sat down in front of the whiteboard, and offered their opinions while watching his design.
The three of them spent nearly two hours building the framework and determining the implementation path.
Feng Weixu stared at the whiteboard for a while, reviewing it from beginning to end, then nodded in satisfaction and said, "This plan will definitely work. We've taken another step closer to our ideal, so I think it can be called GH0.2!"
Wei Hongsi and Jiang Haiyang didn't care what he named it.
Feng Weixu looked at Wei Hongsi and asked, "What's the next step?"
Wei Hongsi said, "How about I take charge of the hardware, and you guys handle the rest?"
Feng Weixu made an "OK" gesture: "No problem."
Jiang Haiyang said, "There's no problem. But with just the two of us, plus Wu Jie, it wouldn't be enough to finish in a week, would it?" He then looked at Wei Hongsi, "You don't want to wait that long, do you?"
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "That's true. The hardware is already in place, and I estimate it will take at most two days. So you'd better finish it within that timeframe. How about by Sunday afternoon?"
Jiang Haiyang said, "That won't be fast enough, unless you can give us some manpower."
Wei Hongsi shook his head: "It was fine a couple of days ago, but now we can't find the time. Why don't you try posting something on the campus community forum?"
Feng Weixu said, "You make it sound so easy. Now that it's the holidays, most people aren't at school, so posting on the community forum is probably less effective than putting up posters."
"Why bother putting up posters? It's better to post in the class group or on WeChat Moments!" Jiang Haiyang said, taking out his phone. "I'll try posting one first."
Feng Weixu leaned closer and said, "You need to write down your requirements clearly."
Jiang Haiyang said without looking up, "Then I'll write it and you can watch."
Wei Hongsi also took out his phone, browsed through his friend list, and felt that posting on WeChat Moments wouldn't be very useful. Remembering that his undergraduate class group was still quite active, he opened it to take a look.
After discussing and editing the content with Feng Weixu, Jiang Haiyang asked Wei Hongsi, "How much are you willing to pay?"
Wei Hong thought for a moment and said, "How about 1500 for just two days?"
Jiang Haiyang laughed and said, "That's quite a lot for students, so we can raise the requirements a bit more."
Wei Hongsi continued looking at the class group chat from his undergraduate days. He scrolled up and saw that Lu Chen, his former roommate, was asking about accommodations near the school. The post was from three days ago.
He sent Lu Chen a private message asking, "Elder Lu, have you returned to Yuecheng?"
Not long after, Lu Chen replied: "Yeah, I just settled in yesterday."
Wei Hongsi: "He didn't even say a word before coming back."
Lu Chen: "I sent a message in the group, but you didn't reply."
Wei Hongsi couldn't help but laugh. Why did he have such an arrogant air about him? He found Lu Chen's phone number and called him.
The call connected quickly, and Wei Hongsi asked, "Didn't you go to work in Beijing? Why are you back in Yuecheng?"
"I came back to pursue graduate studies."
"Wow, that's great! So, where do you live now?"
"I'll stay with my fellow villager near the school for a while, and then move to a new dormitory when school starts."
"If you're free at noon, how about we grab lunch together?"
"OK!"
"How about a little earlier, 11:30?"
"no problem!"
Wei Hongsi and Lu Chen had arranged a place to eat. After hanging up the phone, Wei Hongsi said, "One of my roommates went back to Yuecheng. I'm having lunch with him, so I won't be hanging out with you guys."
Jiang Haiyang asked, "What's your roommate's major? Is he capable of doing any work?"
Wei Hongsi said, "He should be able to do the work, but I don't know if he has time. I'll ask him at noon." He then thought of Xia Shiyu, "I have another candidate. Although he's a novice, you can train him a little and he should be able to do it."
Jiang Haiyang said, "That's good. Now we have two people, and we can find three or four more to use."
The three discussed the coordination and cooperation issues in the subsequent work, and when it was almost time, Wei Hongsi left the laboratory first.
There are many places to eat near the school, most of which are affordable and suitable for students.
Wei Hongsi exited the school from the west gate and walked a short distance north to the restaurant where he had arranged to meet Lu Chen. They were frequent customers of this restaurant and knew exactly which dishes were good and what each of them liked to eat.
As usual, he ordered four dishes. Just as the waiter finished taking notes, Lu Chen arrived, saw him upon entering, and sat down.
"What other dishes do you think we should add?" Wei Hongsi asked Lu Chen.
Lu Chen glanced at the order slip the waiter had taken down and said, "That's enough, no need to order anymore." He then said to the waiter:
Thank you, that's all.
Wei Hongsi glanced at Lu Chen a few times and noticed that he was a little darker and thinner than before, but otherwise he hadn't changed much. He still had short, student-style hair and wore metal-rimmed glasses.
Lu Chen also looked Wei Hongsi up and down and said, "You haven't changed much in the past few years."
Wei Hongsi laughed and said, "You're the same. What's wrong, all alone?"
Lu Chen said, "Yeah, what else can we do?"
Wei Hongsi asked, "Where's your girlfriend?"
"Sigh, don't even mention it," Lu Chen said, looking dejected. "I should have listened to you back then."
Wei Hongsi guessed that he might have broken up with his girlfriend, otherwise he wouldn't have returned from Beijing to pursue a master's degree. However, he couldn't remember giving her any advice back then, so he asked, "When were you referring to 'back then'?"
Lu Chen said, "The day I successfully confessed my feelings, didn't you suggest I think about it more carefully?"
Upon hearing this, Wei Hongsi seemed to recall something: "Was that a Saturday or Sunday morning?"
Lu Chen pouted and said, "Thursday, but there are no classes that morning."
"Oh." Wei Hongsi nodded, finally remembering.
It was a morning during their first semester of senior year. Wei Hongsi hadn't even gotten out of bed yet when Lu Chen woke him up. Lu Chen excitedly told him that he had successfully confessed his feelings and even asked him for advice.
Normally, roommates would say nice things in this kind of situation, especially since Lu Chen has already successfully confessed his feelings, so they would definitely want to hear some blessings or something.
Unfortunately, when Wei Hongsi opened his eyes and looked at Lu Chen, the green ghostly text also appeared in his field of vision, hovering above Lu Chen's head. Perhaps still annoyed at being woken up after not sleeping well, he said to Lu Chen, "I think you should be more cautious. Instead of wasting time on this, you should consider how to contribute to human society."
At the time, Lu Chen was probably in a state of extreme joy, so he only took the good words to heart and automatically ignored the unpleasant ones, and therefore did not mind what he heard.
