Chapter 53 You tell me, did it fly?
"Wait a minute." Jaeger suddenly remembered something. "If you think these energy-devouring worms suddenly sensed some kind of energy source..."
"Could that energy detection device you used to locate the energy-devouring worms be used to pinpoint the location of the energy source that attracts them?"
Tony, reminded by Jaeger, also remembered this thing: "Yeah, I almost forgot about it."
But just as Tony took out the energy detection device, an accident occurred—
The moment he turned on the device, the palm-sized metal device suddenly emitted a sharp, nerve-wracking shriek and began to tremble violently!
"What's going on?" Tony thought something was wrong with the device and was about to check it.
Suddenly realizing something, he swiftly flung the device away, yelling, "Back off! Stay away from that thing!"
The device that was thrown out exploded with a loud bang the next second, turning into a bright flame.
The explosion was quite powerful, killing an energy-devouring insect directly below the device.
As Jaeger watched the device explode, he swallowed hard: "This..."
"..." Tony's mask rose, revealing a grim face. "Regarding the device's reaction, I can only think of one possibility."
"That means the energy source detected was too high, so much so that the device overloaded and exploded the moment it detected it."
"I feel sorry for our brave and selfless energy detection device that was sacrificed." Jaeger made a hasty cross gesture on his chest, adopting a localized form of mourning. "But at least it proves one thing: there is indeed a giant energy source here that can attract swarms of energy-devouring insects."
"And it appeared suddenly." Tony squinted. "After all, the energy-devouring swarm only just discovered this energy source."
While Jaeger and Tony were discussing, the energy-devouring swarm finally blasted a large hole in the ceiling with its energy cannons, revealing the azure sky above.
"Bang!"
The remaining metal fragments fell, crushing a group of energy-devouring insects directly below them upon impact.
But the remaining energy-devouring insects didn't care about this; they just stared intently in a certain direction, shaking their bodies and spreading their wings.
"Click click click..."
"Click click click..."
Amidst the chilling sound, these energy-devouring insects began to swarm out of the hole in the ceiling, rushing towards the outside!
"We have to keep up." Tony's steel mask fell down again, and the thrusters on his hands, legs, and even back automatically flipped out, spewing out eerie blue flames and propelling the armor into the air.
"I'll catch up later." Jaeger looked at the rapidly decreasing number of energy-devouring worms in the room. "I need to make sure all of them have left this cruise ship."
Upon hearing this, Tony nodded in understanding and instantly accelerated, rushing out of the large hole and catching up with the surging swarm of energy-devouring insects.
Jaeger waited until the last energy-devouring insect had flown away and confirmed with the poisonous fog that there were no remaining insects on the cruise ship before preparing to set off to catch up with the swarm.
But the problem is...
"Wait, we don't seem to be able to fly?" Jaeger belatedly realized a problem.
"Right," said the poisonous fog, "So how do we get up there?"
"..." Jaeger pondered as he watched the departing swarm of insects, then suddenly his eyes lit up. "Wait, don't worry, I've got an idea."
"How's your jumping ability, Poison Mist?" he asked immediately.
The poisonous mist wondered why Jaeger was asking this: "It's fine... but what does that have to do with flying?"
"It's alright, as long as you jump high." Jaeger nodded. "Now, listen to my instructions."

Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.
A few minutes later.
"...Do you know how stupid that looks?"
Tony, who was flying in the air, looked speechlessly at Jaeger, who was slowly catching up beside him.
At this moment, Jaeger was in the fully externalized form of the poison mist, with countless tentacle-like entities wrapped in mist branching out from its body, tightly gripping the pincers of a large group of energy-devouring insects.
The energy-devouring insects were focused on the energy source, and even though there was an uninvited heavy object below, they chose to ignore it and just kept flapping their wings to fly upwards.
Thus, a large swarm of energy-devouring insects flew upwards, carrying the poisonous mist below and Jaeger.
This eerie scene once reminded me of the house in Up, which floats away on a bunch of balloons...
Considering the appearance of the poisonous fog and the energy-devouring insects, this visual isn't really suitable for all ages.
"Tell me, did you fly away?" Jaeger's voice drifted out from the poisonous fog.
"..." Tony was speechless for a moment, then looked the poisonous fog up and down. "Speaking of which, what exactly is this thing?"
"It looks familiar, but it's not quite the same as I remember it..." Tony was unusually hesitant.
"Something similar to your suit, but with its own consciousness," Jaeger's voice drifted out again. "Poisonous mist, say hello?"
"Hello—" the poisonous mist rasped, "I am the poisonous mist."
"I am Iron Man." Ever since Tony arrived in this world, the AI installed in his suit has also gone on strike, and for a while, he was unable to determine his thoughts about what was in front of him by consulting the system.
They then flew with the swarm of energy-devouring insects for a while longer, ascending higher and higher...
"Is your suit alright?" Jaeger suddenly asked. "At this altitude, even though the poisonous fog is resistant to freezing, your suit might freeze over?"
"Relax, kitty," Tony said smugly. "I noticed the problem with this flight altitude a while ago, so I chose special materials to make the suit. It won't freeze."
"And compared to that, the energy-devouring swarm has suddenly become faster... Is that energy source nearby?" Tony noticed the swarm's abnormality and began looking around.
Jaeger also began to observe his surroundings.
But soon, his gaze settled on something.
They were already very high up, so high that the sun hanging in the sky seemed almost within reach... although Jaeger knew that the sun was actually very far away from them, separated by several planets.
The sun was so bright that a dark spot blocking its path was so conspicuous.
"What is that?" Jaeger squinted instinctively.
As time went by, they got closer and closer to that black dot...
Until Jaeger finally saw clearly that it wasn't a black dot at all, but a figure flying in mid-air, waiting quietly.
The figure stood with his back to the morning sun, his blue eyes seemingly clearer than the surrounding sky, his expression resolute as he watched the swarm of insects rushing towards him.
That's Clark Kent hovering in mid-air!
The instant Jaeger saw him, Clark's chest heaved, and he took a deep breath—
The next second, a massive gale, accompanied by droplets of liquid that were instantly frozen into ice particles in the air, roared towards the swarm of insects directly in front of them like a raging blizzard!
