Chapter 58: As far as I know
Chapter 58: As far as I know
A rooftop.
"You can't just expose your identity like this! It will have a huge impact on you; countless dangerous people will come after you!"
"What are you talking about, Peter? I'm Harry Osborn, Iron Man! I'm not afraid of them!"
Upon hearing this, Peter covered his forehead: "You..."
He really wanted to say, "Could you please stop calling yourself Iron Man? It's really weird!"
Although he was completely encased in armor, the striking dark green color combined with the title "Iron Man"...
It doesn't fit at all!
"Peter."
Harry put his hand on Peter's shoulder and said, "Besides, I have you. You can teach me, just like before."
As he spoke, he gestured to the Lego set in his hand, "Have you forgotten how you taught me to build this thing?"
Peter sighed. "It's not the same, Harry. This isn't something to joke about. A toy is a toy, but your life is a different matter."
Peter became furious at the mention of life.
His tone suddenly rose.
"besides!"
Peter pointed at him: "Yesterday, yesterday! Dr. Connors and I just injected the serum into you yesterday, and instead of choosing to stay in bed and rest, you had the nerve to come out and wander around?!"
"I wanted to help you!" Harry argued.
"Help me? How did you help me?" Peter retorted.
"What if I don't handle the rubble properly? What if I don't make it in time? What if your body suddenly breaks down during your battle with terror?!"
The three "ifs" weighed heavily on Harry's mind.
Feeling guilty, he didn't know how to respond, so he could only whisper:
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to help you..."
Upon hearing this, Peter's anger subsided considerably, but some of it remained.
He sighed and said, "Listen, Harry, if anything goes wrong with you during this time, I will take it as my responsibility, as if I failed to take good care of you."
"Similarly, if anyone is harmed because of your actions, that will also be your responsibility."
"This has absolutely nothing to do with your father; it's entirely your personal responsibility, Harry Osborn!"
"You told me not long ago that you wanted to get rid of the shadow of your father and not provoke enemies like him."
"But what about now?"
Peter put his hand on Harry's shoulder, his best friend's head already tucked in like a quail.
He really wanted to say something more, but the words, especially after seeing Harry's reaction, ultimately came down to just one sentence.
"You can't be a hero just for fun."
"I...I'm sorry."
Harry hadn't expected Peter to say so much; he probably would have just laughed it off if it were anyone else.
But Peter was different for him.
"..."
For a moment, the atmosphere became somewhat heavy.
Peter didn't know what to say. He glanced at the flying skateboard and a box of Lego toys on the ground.
Peter asked, "How many Lego pieces are there this time?"
Upon hearing this, Harry was overjoyed, knowing that Peter had forgave him.
"The Millennium Falcon! A total of 7541 pieces, twice as many as the original Death Star!"
"There are so many, can you even finish putting them all together?"
"Isn't it you I'm here for?"
"Hehe, I remember you were just randomly spelling things out back then."
Peter walked to the edge of the rooftop, put the spider mask back on, and turned back to ask:
"Is your hoverboard still usable?"
This technological marvel was designed by Dr. Otto and that little old man, Toms.
Although the two tech gurus almost came to blows during the process, each criticizing the other's design, given that both are experts in the field, this flying skateboard is more than enough.
Harry put on his helmet, checked the damage to his flight skateboard, and then shook his head, saying:
"The engine core was damaged quite a bit. It can fly, but I'm afraid it won't last long before it crashes."
Spider-Man looked into the distance, and the towering Osborn Corporation was as dazzling as ever.
A city's famous landmarks often become the city's focal point, the first direction most people will look in.
The terrifying device had already been taken away by the police, even though Harry had revealed his identity beforehand.
Harry also mentioned that he would send someone to retrieve and store it again.
But now.
Peter felt that horror was just the tip of the iceberg of a dark conspiracy.
Spider-Man turned and glanced at Harry, then said:
"I'll go back with you."
"Don't hug me, I prefer you to carry me on your back."
"If you keep talking nonsense, I won't even carry it on my back. I'll just take a taxi home myself."
Harry chuckled, strapped the flying skateboard to his back, and then jumped onto Spider-Man's back, wrapping his arms firmly around Spider-Man's neck.
Then Spider-Man patted his hand.
"It's too tight."
"..."
......
......
......
A conference room.
Donald McCann and a group of Osborne Group board members were watching the news report.
"The guy who calls himself 'Iron Man' is actually Harry Osborn, the current CEO of the Osborn Corporation. He used to be..."
McCann pressed the remote control and changed the TV screen.
The next moment, a man with a buzz cut and a mustache appeared on the screen.
He slammed his hand down and roared:
"Iron Man?! Another superhero?! I guarantee you, this is definitely a new criminal created by Spider-Man himself! Being completely encased in steel is Iron Man?! I'd call him Green Goblin more like it. Besides, this guy's real identity is Harry Osborn!"
"You should know Norman Osborn—beep—"
McCann turned off the TV; he had lost all interest in watching the news reports.
He turned to the other board members and said, "You've all seen it, haven't you? I'm afraid it won't be long before he destroys the entire company!"
Upon hearing this, the other board members were pondering what consequences their boss's actions would bring.
While it's impossible for the company to be destroyed, as McCann claims, the fact that it has been affected is undeniable.
"..."
Suddenly, one guy felt a light bulb appear next to his head.
The man exclaimed excitedly, "I think this is a business opportunity!"
"What do you mean?!"
The other board members all turned their attention to it.
Even McCann couldn't help but cast a curious glance, wanting to know what this guy's ideas were.
"I see no problem with Mr. Osborn publicly acknowledging that he is Iron Man. We can tie him to the company and create a customized image project for him... You know, Spider-Man is already very popular with the public, so what if we add Iron Man, and from the Osborn Corporation at that?"
After saying that, he raised his eyebrows, feeling extremely satisfied with his brilliant idea.
The others agreed. They were all experts in business opportunities and naturally sensed a complete entertainment industry production line. If one Iron Man could emerge, another Golden Iron Man or Silver Iron Man could follow!
However, McCann rejected the idea.
"no."
"Why isn't it working?!"
McCann glanced at the man: "Harry Osborn isn't here, so I'm the boss here. Don't forget that."
"...The company is..."
"Um!?"
"Let's see what kind of nonsense you can come up with!"
The man crossed his arms and snorted coldly.
He noticed that the other board members were all looking at him.
McCann knew that if he couldn't offer any effective advice, he would have no choice but to follow the guy's ideas.
He said, "Don't forget, even though we completely absolved Dara Irrfan of any responsibility for the Lizardman incident, we are still under serious public scrutiny."
"Norman Osborn is dead, but their attention will not decrease because of him; on the contrary, it will gradually increase because of Harry Osborn."
"You say you're building a new entertainment project, then I ask you, what reason do we have to gain the confidence of new investors?"
"Harry Osborn? You should know I'm not kidding."
At this point, McCann reclined on the soft, comfortable sofa and rocked back and forth.
He said softly, "And as far as I know, there's another piece of information that hasn't been released yet."
"What?" everyone asked.
McCann chuckled, "It's said that the criminal who appeared this morning had technology provided by the Osborn Group."
