Chapter 18 Wang Yang's Portable Storage Card
Chapter 18 Wang Yang's Portable Storage Card
"Old Wang, what about you?"
Jiang Ming turned his gaze to Wang Yang, the only one in the dormitory who had not yet shown his results.
Having eaten and drunk his fill, Wang Yang was slumped in a chair, rubbing his round belly, his face still savoring the aftertaste of the roasted mutton.
When Jiang Ming asked him a question, he chuckled, fumbled in his pocket for a while, and pulled out a card.
The card was very ordinary, like the cheapest white plastic meal card, with a smooth surface and no patterns or words. Compared to Jiang Ming's gleaming black iron longsword and Li Bin's two skill stones containing strange energy, it looked particularly shabby.
"That's it?" Li Bin pushed up his glasses, leaned closer to take a look, and almost burst out laughing. "Old Wang, did you get nothing? A blank meal card as a reward so you can go to the cafeteria to get food?"
"screw you!"
Wang Yang glared at Li Bin, then carefully wiped the card on his clothes as if it were a precious treasure.
He didn't argue, but simply grabbed the remaining bottle of mineral water on the table and gently stuck the white card in his hand onto it.
The next second, something happened that almost made Li Bin's jaw drop.
The half-full bottle of mineral water vanished into thin air the instant it touched the card, as if erased by an invisible eraser.
An eerie silence fell over the dormitory.
Jiang Ming and Li Bin's eyes were fixed on that card.
Wang Yang waved his hand triumphantly, and a faint gray watermark in the shape of a mineral water bottle appeared on the previously blank white card.
"This...this is..."
Li Bin stammered, pointing at the card.
"【Portable Storage Card (White)】, one cubic meter of space." Wang Yang's chubby face jiggled with pride. "My rating is C, and I only got this one. It can't be used for fighting, but it can hold things!"
One cubic meter!
Jiang Ming and Li Bin exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock in each other's eyes.
The strategic value of this thing is no less than that of the black iron-grade weapon in Jiang Ming's hands!
"Pack everything up." Jiang Ming took out the supplies from his cabinet without hesitation. "Everything we got from the supermarket—instant noodles, chocolate, bottled water—pack it all up."
"Huh?" Wang Yang was taken aback, hesitating for a moment. "Why do we have to pack it all in? I... I still have to stay in the dorm tomorrow, don't I?"
He seemed to have gotten used to the role of staying behind. Although he envied the excitement of Jiang Ming and the others going out to explore, he was still full of fear of the world outside the school gates.
"What are you guarding?" Jiang Ming slammed his black iron longsword down on the table with a loud clang, making the empty water bottle on the table jump. "Starting tomorrow, you'll be coming out with us."
"Me too?" Wang Yang's chubby face instantly fell, and he waved his hands repeatedly, "No, no, no, Lao Jiang, with my health, going out would be like delivering vegetables. It's safer for me to stay and guard your house..."
"safe?"
Li Bin, who had been silent all along, suddenly let out a cold laugh. He adjusted his glasses, the lenses reflecting the pale moonlight outside the window, making him appear exceptionally cold.
"Old Wang, use your fat-filled brain and think about it properly."
Li Bin walked up to Wang Yang and looked down at him.
"Today, we went out to explore with Lao Jiang, and you stayed behind. As a result, Lao Jiang got an S-rank rating, a full set of black iron equipment, and his combat power doubled. I got two god-tier skills in the later stages, becoming the future logistical support for our team. And you, you only got a storage card."
He paused, then spoke each word with a sharp, penetrating force into Wang Yang's heart.
"Tomorrow, the two of us will go out, and you'll stay behind. We might get injured, but we might also level up, get better equipment, and discover more resources. And you? You'll still only have one storage card."
"The day after tomorrow, and the day after that?"
Li Bin's voice was even lower, filled with an ominous premonition.
"Those who dare to step out will only become stronger. But those of you who cower in your dorm will only stagnate and eventually end up at the bottom of the food chain, just like those cowards."
"When the day comes that we are both so powerful that we no longer need you as our storage, or... we die out there and never come back."
Li Bin leaned down, leaned close to Wang Yang's ear, and continued to deliver the final blow in a volume only the two of them could hear.
"You're all alone, surrounded by a room full of food, in this dormitory building with at least a few dozen, if not hundreds, of starving men... guess what will happen to you?"
"You will become the fattest, most fragrant, and most mouthwatering piece of meat in this building."
That last sentence, like a needle chilled to ice, pierced Wang Yang's heart.
Wang Yang's face turned deathly pale instantly, and large beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
He could picture the scene: Jiang Ming and Li Bin were gone, the dormitory door was kicked open, and countless hungry, bloodshot eyes were fixed on him and the pile of supplies…
He will be torn to pieces, just like that boy who was trampled to death in the supermarket.
Fear is far more motivating than comfort.
"I...I'll do it!" Wang Yang jumped up from his chair, grabbed the storage card as if it were a lifeline, and said, "I'll go with you! I'll pack everything in right now!"
Without any further hesitation, he took the card and began frantically touching the supplies piled up in the cabinet.
Several large bags of instant noodles disappeared.
A pile of chocolates vanished.
The scattered cookies and snacks in Jiang Ming and Li Bin's cabinets also disappeared one after another.
Even the shopping cart on the balcony was reorganized by Jiang Ming and Li Bin and squeezed into Wang Yang's one-cubic-meter storage card space.
The cabinets that were originally piled high with the three people quickly became empty.
Tomorrow, all the students in dormitory 305 will be mobilized.
……
Meanwhile, the girls' dormitory area on the other side presented a completely different scene.
A piercing scream shattered the tranquility of the night, followed by the cracking sound of shattering glass, the crash of overturned tables and chairs, and the terrified cries of countless girls.
The air was thick with a nauseating, fishy stench, a mixture of foot odor, sweat, expensive perfume, and a heavy smell of blood, creating a sticky and despairing atmosphere.
“Help!!”
"Get away! Don't touch me!"
"ah--!"
The corridor on the first floor of Building B, the girls' dormitory, was in a mess.
Torn clothes, scattered books, and cosmetics lay on the ground. Several dormitory doors were violently damaged, with dirty footprints and claw marks on the door panels.
A dozen or so green-skinned monsters, each covered only in tattered animal hides and less than 1.3 meters tall, were excitedly rampaging through the corridor.
Their skin is a dirty green, they have long, hooked noses, sharp ears, and jagged, yellow teeth in their mouths.
They brandished rusty short knives and crude wooden sticks, chasing after the girls who were scattering and fleeing, while making lewd "chirping" noises.
They don't rush to kill; rather, they're playing a cat-and-mouse game, enjoying the fear and despair of their prey.
