Chapter 242: The Second Stage of the Void Avatar
Chapter 242: The Second Stage of the Void Avatar
"It's absorbing the energy from the rift!" The observer used the Star Chart Scepter to deflect the shockwave, his voice tinged with tension. "This is its second phase... it's strengthening itself!"
"We must stop it!" Lysa gritted his teeth, gripped his spear tightly, and his eyes burned with unwavering determination.
However, just as the guardians were preparing to launch their attack, the core of the Void Avatar suddenly cracked open, like a monster emerging from its shell. A colossal shadow emerged from the vortex, taking on a form even more terrifying than before: its body was still composed of fragments of rules and void energy, but every part emanated an irresistible sense of oppression, as if the entire universe trembled beneath its feet.
Even more terrifying, it began to split—splitting from its core into several smaller "Void Core Avatars." These avatars were not entirely independent; they were connected to the main body by energy chains, sharing the power of the Void Avatars and unleashing equally deadly attacks.
"It's creating clones!" Sophia's voice was icy. She used an ice barrier to block the first wave of attacks, but even her power couldn't completely stop the spread of those clones.
Lessa charged towards one of the ethereal core avatars, his spear tracing a golden arc as it thrust straight at the avatar's core. However, the avatar swung its tentacles to block the attack. The moment the tentacles collided with the spear, a violent energy shockwave erupted, forcing Lessa back several steps.
“These guys are stronger than the previous split versions!” Lessa steadied himself, his gaze fixed on the enemy before him.
The Arbiter was also locked in combat with an avatar on the other side. His twin blades burned with intense flames, and each swing drained a portion of the avatar's energy, but the severed tentacles quickly regenerated and became even more agile.
"They can regenerate quickly!" the Arbiter roared in a low voice. He used flames to cut open one of the tentacles, but in the next second, three new tentacles surged out from the broken end, forcing him to retreat repeatedly.
“This is the power of the second stage.” The observer calmly analyzed the battle. He used the Star Chart Scepter to release a beam of azure light, attempting to suppress the core of an avatar. However, the beam of light was distorted when it touched the avatar, and the core of the avatar remained unharmed.
“Attacks on their cores are ineffective!” Sophia warned coldly. She froze the tentacles of one of the avatars with frost, but the frost was quickly shattered by the void energy within the avatar. “These cores are protected by the void avatars themselves. We must find a way to break this!”
Facing the formidable foe before her, Lysa did not flinch. Her body was slightly weary from the long battle, but her will remained steadfast. She raised her spear once more, golden light gathering at its tip to form a dazzling pillar of light.
"I won't give up!" Lysa roared, leaping into the air and thrusting her spear straight at the core of the avatar. This time, she didn't try to penetrate the core, but instead focused her energy on the avatar's energy link.
The moment the spear struck the energy link, a piercing explosion rang out. The avatar's movements suddenly froze, as if greatly disturbed.
"It works!" Lysa shouted. "Attack their energy links!"
Upon hearing the command, the Arbiter quickly adjusted his tactics. He used his twin blades to slash at the energy link of another avatar, causing the link to tremble violently and the avatar's attack power to weaken significantly.
“Very good!” The observer nodded. “Their power comes from their bodies, and they share energy through links. If we sever these links, their power will be greatly weakened!”
However, the Void Avatar reacted extremely quickly. It seemed to sense the Guardians' strategy and began to proactively strengthen its defenses. A dark red barrier covered the links, making the attack even more difficult.
“It’s adapting to our tactics!” Sofia said calmly, her frost power covering the entire area, temporarily freezing the two avatars.
Kane rushed in from the other side of the rift, his flames sweeping across the battlefield like a whirlwind, shattering the connecting parts of one of the avatars. But his attack triggered a frenzied counterattack from the avatar, with countless tentacles simultaneously attacking him, forcing him back to the edge of the rift.
"Kane!" Lysa rushed over, wielding his spear to sever the tentacles, giving Kane a chance to survive.
Kane coughed up blood, but his eyes remained fervent: "These guys are tough, but I won't give up so easily!"
Although the Guardians found a strategy to break the avatar, the battle remained deadlocked. Every attack came at a great cost, and the threat of the avatar's true form continued to loom over them like a dark cloud.
“We need more power,” the observer said in a low voice, his gaze falling on the Star Chart Scepter. “The Star Chart’s energy can temporarily suppress them, but at the cost of us potentially losing the Star Chart’s defensive capabilities.”
"That's too dangerous!" Leisa objected vehemently. "If the Star Chart's defenses are breached, we'll all be in dire straits!"
“But we have no choice,” Sophia said coldly. “If we can’t deal with these avatars, we won’t be able to get close to the true form of the Void Avatar.”
Ultimately, the observer made a decision. He planted the Star Chart Scepter into the ground, and the radiance of the Star Chart covered the entire battlefield. A deep blue energy barrier instantly enveloped the linked parts of the avatars, briefly suppressing their power.
"Now!" the observer shouted, "Attack the moment they lose their defenses!"
Lysa, the Arbiter, Sophia, and Kane launched their strongest attacks simultaneously. Spears, double blades, frost, and fire struck the avatar's connecting parts at the same time, severing them completely. The avatar's energy rapidly diminished, eventually dissipating into nothingness within the cracks.
Although the Void Core Avatar was defeated, the Void Avatar's true form remained powerful, its strength undiminished, and even more terrifying due to the continued expansion of the rift.
“We’ve only destroyed its clone.” The observer looked at the swirling vortex in the distance, his tone heavy. “But the real battle is far from over.”
Lysa gritted his teeth: "No matter the cost, we must stop it."
The Arbiter gripped his twin blades tightly, his eyes burning with rage: "Next time, I will personally cleave its core open!"
The battle intensified, and although the Guardians won a minor victory, they remained in grave danger facing the threat of the Void Avatar's true form. The outcome of this war remained uncertain.
In the core region of the star chart, the blue light that should have been stable and bright, symbolizing the rules and order of the universe, now appeared dim and lifeless, its surface covered with cracked shadows, as if it were extremely fragile and could collapse at any moment. A series of piercing alarm sounds emanated from within the star chart, echoing through the void, indicating the deadly threat it faced.
