Chapter 42 Jobs with a Six-Figure Annual Salary
Chapter 42 Jobs with a Six-Figure Annual Salary
Mark did not collect Norman's body.
He erased the traces he had left before returning to the street to wait for the tow truck.
Shortly after, the tow truck arrived.
"Thank you. The basic towing fee is $150, with an additional $50 for nighttime use, making it $200 in total."
The driver's words made Mark swallow back the "thank you" he was about to say.
"Can I get insurance coverage?" He asked with an unpleasant smile.
The driver shook his head. "You can talk to the insurance company, but you have to pay first."
"Okay, I'll pay."
Mark gritted his teeth, paid the money, and followed the tow truck all the way to the suburbs.
He plans to scrap the car.
After all this was done, dawn was breaking.
When Mark arrived at the memorial service, he happened to see Gwen and the others.
"Hey, you guys are here too."
He glanced at Felicia and Cindy. "Are any of your relatives involved in this accident?"
Felicia shook her head. "My dad is safe."
Cindy shrugged and said, "My family is safe too."
"We're here to comfort Harry," Peter said as he stepped out.
He looked at Mark and couldn't help but sigh.
"Looks like you're alright," he said, seemingly out of the blue.
Mark scratched his head. "Should I have something to do?"
You should be alright.
Peter just learned from the reporter that Spider-Man disappeared while chasing Green Goblin.
Mark's appearance means that either Green Goblin has escaped or... is dead.
Harry then walked towards the group, looking exhausted.
"I just received news that my father has gone missing. He must have been targeted by the Green Goblin!"
Harry gritted his teeth. "The Green Goblin targeted my father because the Osborn Corporation is also a weapons manufacturing company. That's why he blew up the whole building and killed so many people. What a damned guy!" he cursed.
Mark hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
He glanced at Peter, who seemed completely unconcerned, and didn't know how to begin.
Harry must be in great pain to have his best friend kill his father.
Harry's gaze fell on Mark. "You're my best friend. You should use your superpowers to help me find the Green Goblin, and then we'll take him down together."
Mark nodded. "Yes, we're best friends, but about taking down the Green Goblin..."
He was speaking when a reporter nearby suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"Oh my god, I got the latest news! Spider-Man killed Green Goblin! Hurry to the beach, his body must be nearby."
As they spoke, the group of reporters excitedly rushed toward the shore.
Harry got excited when he heard this.
"Yes! Spider-Man killed Green Goblin, and he avenged us!"
Peter frowned. "The Green Goblin is dead. Where is Uncle Norman who has disappeared?" he asked, voicing his doubts.
Harry's expression also changed. "Let's go to the beach first and find the Green Goblin's body to see if there are any other clues."
"Walk."
He instructed his butler to send over a minivan, large enough for everyone to ride together.
Soon, the beach was packed with reporters.
Harry and the others searched along the coast.
Mark followed behind them, and they were about to find the location of Norman's body.
He suddenly felt a sense of guilt.
I don't know why.
Fortunately, by the time the group found the giant pit, Norman's body had already disappeared.
"Um?"
Mark frowned as he stared at the empty, gaping pit.
Has another accident occurred?
When Harry and the others discovered the giant pit, they immediately thought of the Green Goblin.
"According to those reporters, Green Goblin was punched by Spider-Man and sent flying to the beach, so this must be a trace left by Green Goblin."
Harry said with certainty, "The Green Goblin is gone, but he's not dead."
"But Uncle Norman hasn't been found yet," Peter said with a worried look.
Gwen, standing to the side, seemed to be deep in thought. "I heard that a soldier almost captured Professor Kurt. If we can find the Lizard Man, then we should be able to find the Green Goblin too."
"That's right."
Harry's eyes lit up. "I'll go ask them right now."
Before this, the group of agents had already contacted him.
With a way to contact them, and given that the main party in this incident was the Osborn Group, Harry believed that they wouldn't hide anything from him, the person directly involved.
Sure enough, as the sun rose, Harry contacted Coulson and arrived at the S.H.I.E.L.D. building for the first time.
Nick Fury's office.
"Let them all come in."
"Commander, they're here."
Coulson opened the door, and Mark and the others followed Harry into the office.
Nick Fury glanced at everyone, his gaze lingering briefly on Mark.
His willingness to allow people other than Harry to contact S.H.I.E.L.D. had more than one purpose.
He got up and walked towards Harry. "Coffee? Or Coke?"
"We are not children."
Harry looked at Nick Fury. "You're the boss here?"
"I guess so."
"Alright, where's the Green Goblin?"
He is dead.
Nick Fury's words surprised everyone.
Mark was also intrigued.
"You found the Green Goblin's body?" he asked.
Nick Fury nodded. "Yes, we brought back Green Goblin's body before you arrived."
Harry instantly became agitated. "Give me the body. I'm going to teach him a lesson...his body."
Nick Fury looked at Harry meaningfully. "You don't know who the Green Goblin is?"
"How could I possibly know?"
"Alright, then you don't need to know."
Nick Fury sat in his seat and relaxed.
Natasha found Green Goblin's body based on the videos from passersby, and he finally managed to keep his position as commander.
He said, "I cannot reveal Green Goblin's true identity until I receive a direct order from above."
Why?
Harry glared at him. "The Green Goblin blew up Osborne Tower. I'm a victim. I have the right to know everything."
"You don't want to know all this."
Nick Fury was adamant: "You might find the clues yourself, but I hope you won't regret it."
After he finished speaking, he looked at Mark and Peter Parker.
"You've come at the right time. Professor Kurt has escaped again, and he'll definitely keep looking for you and tell me what you're thinking now."
Peter shrugged, looking indifferent.
"I'll listen to Mark."
Mark shrugged, looking completely indifferent.
"I'm not afraid of him anymore."
He showed off his biceps, saying, "I've gotten stronger, really strong, super strong. He can't pose a threat to me anymore."
Nick Fury couldn't be bothered with this mentally ill person.
"Okay, this is your choice."
"Then, the third thing."
His expression was serious, and he stared directly at Mark.
"Would you like to join us?"
This decision was made after careful consideration.
According to the report submitted by Steve, Professor Kurt is very capable.
Mark's ability to escape from Professor Kurt's clutches time and time again must be more than just simple.
In addition, he speculated that Spider-Man and Mark were both former patients in an asylum.
Keeping clues related to Spider-Man around is beneficial to S.H.I.E.L.D.
However, Mark looked dismissive.
"I'm sorry, but I'll reiterate, I will not join you."
"A six-figure annual salary," Nick Fury suddenly gestured.
Mark swallowed hard.
"You...you...I need to think about it."
