Chapter 134 Harry's Discovery
At dawn, as the first rays of sunlight touched the castle walls, Siron would promptly sit up in bed.
Facing the sunlight streaming through the window, he took out the wand whose core was Professor McGonagall's hair and pointed it at his heart.
"Amado, Animo, Animato, Animagus."
The sound of my heartbeat seemed amplified, pounding incessantly in my ears. When Siren removed his wand, everything returned to normal.
After quickly washing up, Siren arrived at the common room and saw Harry and Ron sitting there chatting.
Wait, who did he see?
Xilun couldn't help but glance at the time.
That's right, it was exactly six o'clock, and it was six in the morning, not six in the afternoon. Why would he see Harry and Ron in the common room at this time?
"Didn't you sleep all night?" he asked as he walked over.
"I really didn't sleep." Ron rubbed his arm and sat there listlessly. "I mopped the floor all night, from the first floor to the eighth floor, and I couldn't use magic. I feel like my arms and back are about to break."
"Why are you mopping the floor?" Siren looked at him in confusion. "Even if you want to compete with Filch for the job, you should consider the house-elves. They can clean the castle in half an hour. They're much more efficient than you."
"I don't want to compete with Filch for my job."
Ron groaned as he leaned back in his armchair. "Snape put us in solitary confinement, and he made Filch supervise me cleaning the entire castle corridors. I worked all night!"
"Detention?" Xilun was even more puzzled. "Have you broken any school rules recently?"
"The last Quidditch match," Harry said, "Ron led a clash with the Slytherins."
"But that happened a long time ago, didn't it?" Siren thought for a moment. "I remember Hermione saying he deducted twenty points from Gryffindor, but didn't mention any detention. Am I mistaken?"
"No, not at the time," Harry said, his face drooping. "But later on our way to class, we complained a bit and said some unpleasant things, which Snape happened to overhear."
this.-
Xilun was at a loss for words.
He brazenly cursed the professor in the castle corridor and got caught red-handed. Their confinement was entirely deserved; they brought it on themselves.
"So you two are both cleaning the castle?" Siron glanced at Harry.
"No, I'm going to write a reply for Lockhart," Harry said, his eyes vacant and lifeless.
No one knows what he went through, but he looked at Ron with envy, only to meet Ron's exact same gaze.
It seems that both of them feel they are more unlucky than the other.
"You couldn't possibly have spent the whole night replying to letters, could you?" Siron said. "Even if the lockdown starts at 10 p.m., it's ridiculous for two people to spend eight hours replying to letters together. Are there really that many people who like Lockhart?"
"It was seven hours, starting at eleven o'clock," Harry said. "And it wasn't just the two of us; I was the one replying most of the time."
"What about Lockhart?"
"He was in another room, but he only took one letter," Harry said.
"They only took one letter?" Xiren immediately sat up.
Something's not right. Lockhart's most anticipated activity each day was replying to letters from his admirers, which, according to him, was the most relaxing and enjoyable time of the day.
Even if Lockhart had to ask Harry for help because there were too many letters to reply to, he couldn't possibly delegate the entire task to him.
Do you know who wrote the letter he took?
"I don't know," Harry shook his head. "I only know that Lockhart seems very happy. I can always hear him talking to himself in the house, saying things like, 'Great idea—why didn't I think of that—what a genius, we'll definitely be on the front page.'"
It doesn't sound like anything special; it's like someone gave Lockhart some advice on how to make him stand out.
At that moment, Harry suddenly asked, "By the way, Shiron, do you think Hogwarts really has a Chamber of Secrets?"
Why do you ask that?
"Nothing much, I just thought Lockhart might be looking for information about the Chamber of Secrets," Harry said. "When I got there, he was reading 'Hogwarts: A History of the School,' and he immediately closed the book when he saw me."
"And when I finished writing my reply and was about to leave, he asked me a lot of questions."
“Oh, he also mentioned you,” Harry said to Siren. “He asked me if you really destroyed the Chamber of Secrets, and I told him I didn’t know.”
"That's normal, isn't it?" Before Siren could speak, Ron yawned and said, "After Lockhart was attacked..."
The other person wrote those words on him; if it were me, I would definitely want to find out what the secret room was.
Harry nodded hesitantly. He still felt something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it; it was just a feeling.
He wanted to say something more, but Ron was already slumped on the armrest of the chair, mumbling something in his sleep.
He then looked at Xilun.
"Of course not, the secret room is perfectly fine," Xilun answered his previous question.
"In that newspaper..."
"That was Fred and George's prank." Siren looked at Harry, a hint of hesitation flashing in his eyes.
He couldn't understand why Harry knew about the Chamber of Secrets. He originally knew nothing, but a period of confinement had sparked his curiosity about it.
And it was Snape's solitary confinement; why didn't he let Harry continue dealing with the Fellowship caterpillar in the underground classrooms?
Even if Snape made Harry deal with two large buckets of Fellowship caterpillars in the hallway, Professor McGonagall couldn't say anything. At most, she could conjure up a pair of gloves for Harry to make him feel less bad.
But Snape didn't do that. Instead, he gave Harry a mild punishment, making him reply to Lockhart's letter.
Honestly, this punishment is much lighter than Ron having to clean the entire castle. Would Snape be that kind?
Various thoughts flashed through Xilun's mind. For a moment, he seemed to see Luwei again, and the trapdoor it guarded.
Xilun paused for a moment, then continued, "In fact, we found the entrance to the secret chamber a long time ago, but we couldn't open it and could only stay outside."
This time it was Harry's turn to be surprised. He asked incredulously, "Even Headmaster Dumbledore can't open it? He's the headmaster, after all."
"Yes, even Dumbledore can't get in." Sirens glanced at the dazed Ron again.
"Although Dumbledore was the headmaster, Salazar Slytherin was too, and he was the first headmaster. The Chamber of Secrets he left behind is not something you can just enter casually. In fact, there is only one way to open the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets."
"What method?" Harry asked instinctively.
"Only the true heir to Slytherin would know that," Siron said softly. "The professors think it might be related to Salazar Slytherin himself, perhaps his extraordinary alchemical abilities, or maybe his unique Parsleyan accent."
"Ugh, why are you guys still chatting?" Ron opened his eyes, rubbed his forehead, and said, "Go to sleep, I'm so sleepy."
After saying that, he stood up and staggered upstairs.
Harry hadn't decided what to do yet, but after hearing what he said, his eyelids started to feel heavy, and he went back to the dormitory with him.
"I'm going to sleep all day." Ron's voice disappeared at the end of the stairs.
