Lin Ye shook his head: "It's not that simple. The observers definitely have protective measures. We need a plan."
Trunks suddenly looked up: "I have an idea. Since we have control over these Reapers, why not send them on missions? We can modify the experimental parameters to prevent time discontinuities from forming and instead create a time-stable field."
Bulma's eyes lit up: "That's right! This will not only prevent disasters, but also enhance the Earth's time stability!"
Lin Ye pondered for a moment: "It's feasible, but the risks are huge. What if the observers discover our intervention..."
“They’ll find out sooner or later,” Trunks said, “but if we do it cleverly enough, we can buy them more time.”
Vegeta interrupted impatiently: "Enough with the discussion! If there's a solution, let's get to it!"
Lin Ye finally nodded: "Okay, let's do it this way. Trunks, you're in charge of modifying the experimental parameters. Bulma, provide technical support. Vegeta, Android 18, you two are in charge of guarding the area and preventing any accidents."
Everyone nodded in agreement and began to take action.
While Lin Ye and Trunks were manipulating the variable engine, no one noticed the almost imperceptible red light flashing in the eyes of the Reaper as it subtly moved its fingers. Its internal system was quietly reorganizing, bypassing the variable engine's control protocol.
An encrypted message was emitted from its body, traversing dimensions and reaching an unknown destination.
[Variable anomaly detection... Initial control failure... Backup plan activated... Awaiting instructions...]
Inside the laboratory, everyone was busy preventing tomorrow's disaster, completely unaware that a crisis was quietly approaching. The observer's game was far from over, and Lin Ye and Trunks had just stepped into an even more dangerous territory.
The power of the Variable Engine is astonishing, but it has also attracted an even more powerful enemy. In this high-dimensional battle, Earth's fate hangs in the balance, and time is flying by.
Chapter 465 The Countdown to the Time Fault
“Time fault…” Bulma quickly operated the console, bringing up all relevant data. “Based on the information provided by these Reapers, the Observer will create a time singularity over West Capital at noon tomorrow.”
Trunks added, "The singularity will expand rapidly, devouring all timelines within its range. The devoured areas will be completely erased from the timeline, as if they had never existed."
Vegeta slammed his fist on the control panel: "Half the galaxy? Just for an experiment?"
Number 18 calmly asked, "Is there any way to stop it?"
Lin Ye browsed the data in the variable engine: "The normal method won't work. Once a time singularity forms, it's an absolute reality. But..."
"But what?" Everyone looked at him.
Lin Ye's eyes flickered with data: "There's a function in the variable engine: the time paradox generator. Theoretically, it can create an opposite time anomaly before the singularity forms, so the two cancel each other out."
Trunks frowned: "Theoretically? How theoretical?"
“The observers have never actually tested it,” Lin Ye said with a wry smile. “Because it’s too dangerous. If the calculations are wrong, it could cause an even greater time disaster.”
Bulma suddenly looked up: "How much energy is needed?"
Lin Ye did some calculations: "It would require the energy of at least ten time crystals, or..." He looked at the six stationary Reapers, "their power cores."
Vegeta walked straight up to one of the Reapers: "Then take it out! They're puppets now anyway."
“Wait,” Number 18 stopped him. “If we remove the power core, the control protocol might fail. Once these guys are free…”
Trunks examined the Reaper's systems: "She's right. The control protocol relies on their power core to function. Removing the core is equivalent to disarming them."
Lin Ye pondered for a moment: "Not necessarily. If I first use the variable engine to copy their energy signature, I might be able to simulate the effect of the power core and maintain the control protocol."
Bulma shook her head: "It's too risky! If the simulation fails, we'll be facing the dual threat of six Reapers and the Time Singularity at the same time."
The lab fell silent. Everyone knew the gravity of this decision.
Suddenly, the control panel issued an alarm: "Abnormal energy accumulation detected! Spatial distortion has occurred above Xidu!"
The holographic projection displays a real-time view of the sky above Xidu, showing a tiny black dot forming and the surrounding space beginning to distort.
"It's ahead of schedule!" Trunks exclaimed. "The Observer has discovered our plan!"
Lin Ye immediately made a decision: "Bulma, prepare the Time Crystal! Vegeta, Android 18, guard the Reaper! Trunks, help me calculate the paradox parameters!"
Everyone sprang into action. Bulma activated all the energy devices, Vegeta and Android 18 kept a wary eye on the six Reapers, and Trunks and Lin Ye began frantically calculating.
"Parameter calculations will take time!" Trunks shouted. "At least an hour!"
Lin Ye looked at the projection; the black dot was expanding at a visible speed: "We might not have an hour left!"
Just then, one of the Reapers suddenly moved—the very same one whose finger had twitched earlier. It lunged at Bulma, a Time Blade appearing in its hand.
"Watch out!" Android 18 reacted the fastest, shoving Bulma aside as the Time Blade grazed her arm. The area hit immediately turned transparent.
Vegeta roared, unleashing his full Super Saiyan power, and punched the Reaper away: "These bastards are awake!"
The other five Reapers also began to move, their red eyes glowing again.
"The control protocol has failed!" Lin Ye exclaimed. "They've severed the connection with the variable engine!"
The leader of the reapers spoke in a cold voice: "Variable Lin Ye, your tricks end here. The Observer already knows everything."
Trunks suddenly shouted, "Lin Ye! Keep calculating! I'll handle them!"
His eyes blazed with golden light, and the special abilities left by the time toxin activated. The flow of time in the laboratory began to distort, and the Reaper's movements became slow and predictable.
"Time prediction..." one of the Reapers exclaimed in surprise, "You actually possess such an ability!"
Trunks smiled. "The surprise is yet to come!" He looked at number 18. "How's your arm?"
On the 18th, the area that had become transparent was examined: "It cannot be felt, but its function is normal."
“The effect of the Time Blade is temporary,” Trunks explained. “It will return to normal in ten minutes.”
Vegeta was already locked in a fierce battle with a Reaper: "Less talk, more fighting! These guys are tougher than they look!"
Lin Ye was calculating the paradox parameters with all his might, while Bulma assisted him: "Energy ready! We can start up at any time!"
The black spot has expanded to the size of a basketball, and abnormal phenomena have begun to appear in the sky above the western capital. In some areas, time accelerates and buildings age and weather rapidly; in other areas, time slows down and everything almost stands still; and in still other areas, time loops, with the same events repeating endlessly.
"The city is starting to collapse!" Bulma exclaimed. "We must hurry!"
Lin Ye suddenly looked up: "Calculation complete! Activate the paradox generator!"
Bulma pressed a button, and the energy of the Time Crystal surged into the special device Trunks had previously installed. A golden halo unfolded above West City, perfectly enveloping the black dot.
"Paradox generator activated!" Lin Ye shouted. "Now we need to inject both time energy and anti-time energy simultaneously!"
Trunks was taken aback: "Simultaneously? How do you do that?"
“You and I each control a type of energy!” Lin Ye explained. “I use the Variable Engine to generate time energy, and you use the Time Toxin’s ability to generate anti-time energy!”
The two focused their minds simultaneously, unleashing two streams of energy, one gold and one black, towards the halo in the sky. The expansion rate of the black dot noticeably slowed down.
Seeing this, the Reapers suddenly abandoned the fight and rushed towards the energy device: "Stop them!"
Vegeta and Android 18 fought valiantly to intercept, but were outnumbered. A Reaper broke through the defenses, its Time Blade slicing straight at the energy device.
"No!" Bulma cried out.
Just then, an unexpected energy beam struck the Reaper, blasting it away. Silver Fox appeared in the doorway, looking disheveled but standing there: "Looks like I made it."
Everyone was stunned. Hadn't Silver Fox already disintegrated?
Silver Fox leaned weakly against the doorframe: "Don't be so surprised. Time-space agents all have several spare bodies." She looked at Lin Ye, "I'm on your side, at least for now."
Vegeta looked at her warily: "Why should I believe you?"
“Because I just saved you.” Silver Fox pointed to the energy device. “And I know how to improve your paradox generator, which requires a third energy source: chaos energy.”
Lin Ye frowned: "Chaotic energy? That would destabilize the entire system!"
“That’s exactly what’s needed!” Silver Fox explained. “The time singularity is absolutely ordered, and only absolute chaos can neutralize it!”
Trunks suddenly realized: "She's right! Our method is too theoretical; in practice, we need to introduce chaotic variables!"
The black dot had expanded to a diameter of ten meters and began to generate a powerful suction force. The buildings in Xidu began to break down into elementary particles and be sucked into it.
"No time for arguing!" Bulma shouted. "What do we do?"
Silver Fox walked to the control panel and quickly operated it: "Use my spacetime core! It's an unstable source of chaotic energy!"
Lin Ye hesitated: "But that would kill you!"
Silver Fox laughed: "Who said this is my true form?" She pressed a device on her chest, and her body began to glow. "Remember, Variable Lin Ye, the Observer is not the only player. There are others watching all of this."
Her body transformed into a seven-colored ray of light, shooting towards the halo above the Western Capital. The Paradox Generator suddenly increased its power, and golden and black energies merged perfectly.
The black spot stopped expanding and began to shrink.
"We did it!" Trunks cheered.
But Lin Ye's expression remained serious: "It's not over yet. Look over there!"
At the center of the shrinking black dot, an eye-shaped pattern slowly opens; that is the observer's mark.
A voice echoed in everyone's minds: "Interesting. The variable has produced an unexpected result. Continue the experiment."
With these words, the black spot completely disappeared, and Xidu returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.
The harvesters stopped moving at the same time and turned into dust and disappeared.
The laboratory was silent. Everyone sat on the floor, exhausted.
"Is...it over?" Vegeta asked, panting.
Lin Ye shook his head: "It's just the beginning. The observers have seen our potential, and the experiment has been upgraded."
Trunks pulled up the data from the variable engine, his face suddenly turning pale: "They...they modified the timeline..."
"What was changed?" Bulma asked nervously.
Trunks managed to say, "They resurrected Frieza... and Cell... and strengthened them. They're heading towards Earth now."
Vegeta laughed instead: "Perfect timing! I needed a punching bag to vent my frustrations!"
Lin Ye looked towards Xidu, his eyes flashing with data: "No, this time is different. The observers are testing our ability to deal with multiple threats."
Suddenly, Number 18 pointed at the projection and asked, "What's that?"
The projection showed the outer space of Earth, where two familiar figures were approaching—Frieza and Cell—but their auras were incredibly powerful.
Frieza's voice somehow echoed across the Earth: "Dear Saiyans, I'm back! This time I brought a little 'gift'!"
Seru's voice then rang out: "And me! This time I will achieve my complete form, and then destroy this boring world!"
Vegeta's fighting spirit ignited: "I couldn't be happier!"
But Lin Ye noticed something further away: a tiny spatial rift was forming, a harbinger of another time singularity.
The observers' experiment was far from over, and they seemed to be nothing more than lab rats in the experiment.
