Chapter 1 A Buffet Delivered to Your Door
Chapter 1 A Buffet Delivered to Your Door
"Who...who are you?"
"How did you get inside my body!"
As soon as Ye Tian regained consciousness, he heard a timid little girl's voice in his mind.
Ye Tian did not answer immediately, but first looked around at where he was.
A layer of mist shrouded the surroundings, with only a dozen square meters of ground visible beneath our feet.
Ye Tian tried to reach his hand into the mist behind him, but his fingers seemed to hit a thick wall and couldn't go any further.
It looks like he'll be staying here for a while.
At this moment, Ye Tian turned his gaze to the edge of the mist, to the little girl who was looking at him timidly.
The little girl was about four or five years old. Although her clothes were clean, they were still worn. Her tear-streaked face looked at Ye Tian, and her small, wheat-colored hand secretly clenched the hem of her clothes to ease her tension.
"Don't be afraid, little girl, I'm here to help you."
"This is your consciousness space. If you want to leave, you just need to subconsciously give yourself a command."
"real?"
Seeing that Ye Tian didn't approach, the little girl felt a little more trusting and subconsciously did as he said.
The next second, the little girl's body vanished from this space in a flash.
"Wow, it's actually true!"
The little girl's surprised voice rang out from above.
Her figure reappeared here soon, and then quickly disappeared again.
Ye Tian began to comfort the little girl and quickly obtained a lot of information from her.
Just as he was about to let the little girl see the outside world through her eyes, the little girl covered her stomach somewhat shyly.
"Brother Ye Tian, I'm hungry. I'll go find something to eat."
"Dong'er, can you cook?" Ye Tian's question left the little girl named Dong'er stunned.
"I'll teach you."
Ye Tian's next sentence immediately made Dong'er's face light up.
"Thank you, Brother Ye Tian!"
Ye Tian taught Dong'er some things, and soon he was able to see the outside world through Dong'er's eyes.
Dong'er crawled out of the hole; the narrow opening was just big enough for her to crawl out close to the ground.
Outside the cave was a long-abandoned wooden house, and under the relatively intact eaves was a stove that clearly showed signs of use.
Dong'er reached into the dark stove and pulled out a few wild fruits that had already begun to rot.
Dong'er's mouth watered as she looked at the food. Just as she was about to take a bite, she suddenly thought of Ye Tian.
"Brother Ye Tian, are you hungry? You can eat these fruits first."
"No need, I don't need to eat in my current state."
Ye Tian could tell that Dong'er had clearly been homeless for some time; her clothes were filthy, and her face and hands were covered in black and white patches. He taught her to cut off the rotten parts, and after she had eaten her fill, Ye Tian guided her to go out for a walk.
"Brother Ye Tian, it's getting dark outside, and there are wild animals roaming around." Dong'er looked outside with fear in her eyes.
"Dong'er." Ye Tian was about to continue persuading him when his expression suddenly changed, and he said urgently, "Quickly, go back to the cave!"
"what?"
Dong'er asked in confusion, and Ye Tian shouted again, which made her realize what was happening and she ran towards the entrance of the cave.
However, this slight delay made it too late.
Through the dilapidated doorway of the wooden house, the head of an old wolf, drooling, peeked in, a glint of longing for food flashing in its weak eyes.
"Wolf!"
"There are wolves!"
Dong'er happened to meet the old wolf's eyes. Startled by the murderous aura in those eyes, he stumbled, kicked a piece of wood, and fell to the ground.
The old wolf roared and pounced on Dong'er with its foul-smelling mouth open, its eyes filled with a longing for food.
"what!"
At this critical moment, Ye Tian shouted in a deep voice, "Dong'er, can you trust me just this once?"
"Give me your body!"
Should she trust Ye Tian, whom she had only known for a short time, or should she believe that she could escape from the mouth of this old wolf that could swallow her whole?
Dong'er quickly made a decision, "I believe you, Brother Ye Tian!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Tian's figure vanished, and Dong'er fell to the spot where he had been standing.
In reality, Dong'er, who had fallen to the ground, immediately lunged forward the moment the wolf pounced, rolling several times on the ground. He then picked up a broken table leg, and the fear in his vivid eyes dissipated, replaced by a touch of adult composure.
Dong'er's young body has now been replaced by Ye Tian's soul.
His gaze swept over the old wolf, and he instantly discerned the wolf's weakness.
He was exhausted and was already panting after just one kill. He also had an old injury on his right hind leg and was unsteady on his feet.
It must be a lone wolf that was recently driven out of its pack.
The old wolf failed to kill Ye Tian in its first pounce. It slightly arched its body, used its hind legs to propel itself across the ten-meter distance between itself and Ye Tian in one step, and its front paws, gleaming with cold light, viciously clawed down at Ye Tian's neck.
"Brother Ye Tian, be careful!" Dong'er, who witnessed all this, exclaimed in alarm and instinctively crouched down, as if that would allow him to avoid the terrifying claws.
Ye Tian remained motionless until the old wolf's claws reached out. He then moved two steps to the side in a strange manner, the cold light of the claws grazing his nose.
Ye Tian gripped the spiked table leg tightly with both hands and stabbed it forcefully to the side.
A sudden gust of wind blew through the air, and the old wolf's waist and abdomen suddenly appeared in the empty space in front of the wooden spikes.
With a soft "plop," the old wolf felt a sudden, sharp pain in its stomach, and its raised paws instantly lost their strength.
Ye Tian wasn't satisfied yet, so he pulled out the table leg and used it as a stick to smash down on the old wolf, who was barely able to stand on the ground.
With a few thuds, the last glimmer of light in the old wolf's eyes vanished. The next moment, faint white light seeped from the old wolf's body, condensing into a pale white halo above it.
"What is this?" Dong'er asked curiously, looking at the halo through Ye Tian's perspective.
"Spirit rings, this old wolf is a ten-year-old spirit beast."
Ye Tian sat down and casually touched his head, which was covered in sweat.
This body is still too weak. Just a few moves, Ye Tian felt that his physical strength was severely exhausted, and he could not even stand steadily.
"Dong'er, I'll explain to you later. Let me get this buffet that was delivered to my door first."
Looking at the old wolf, Dong'er roughly guessed what Ye Tian meant by the buffet. She hummed in agreement and immediately quieted down.
Ye Tian pulled a rusty kitchen knife from the hole and, before it got dark, used it to slowly peel off the old wolf's skin. The knife slammed down on the wolf carcass, and soon a large piece of meat appeared on the ground.
Before it got completely dark, Ye Tian walked around the cabin, set up some simple warning traps, returned to the cabin, lit a campfire, rubbed the wolf meat with the herbs he had just picked, and roasted the wolf meat over the fire.
After all the wolf meat was processed, Ye Tian carried it all back to the cave and returned the body to Dong'er. She, who had been full of energy, felt a growing sense of fatigue, and her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
