Chapter 66 Chen Wenjin's Speculation
Chapter 66 Chen Wenjin's Speculation
"You're awake! Come and have something to eat!"
Seeing Chen Wenjin sit up, Cheng Feng picked up a cup of hot water from beside the fire and handed it to Chen Wenjin.
"Thank you. When did such a thick fog come on?"
Chen Wenjin sat down next to Cheng Feng, took the water glass, and asked in confusion.
Cheng Feng told her that the fog had been there for two hours and showed no sign of dissipating.
Huo Ling woke up while the two were talking. She stretched and looked like she had been sleeping very comfortably.
"What a thick fog!"
After sighing, Huo Ling got up and walked to the fire, sitting on the other side of Cheng Feng.
The three of them drank hot water and ate some dry food.
After filling his stomach, Chen Wenjin said to Cheng Feng:
"The visibility is too low in this fog. We'd better wait for it to clear before we set off."
Huo Ling nodded:
"Yes, you should take this opportunity to rest."
Cheng Feng did not respond to the two women immediately, but instead looked up at the canopy of the banyan tree.
Then he turned to the two women and said, "I noticed something on the canopy of this banyan tree last night, and I'm going to go up and take a look."
The two women also looked up, trying to find what Cheng Feng had mentioned, but they could only see swirling white miasma.
"We can't see anything, but since you say there is, let's go up and take a look!"
As Chen Wenjin spoke, he walked toward a vine hanging down from a large banyan tree.
The three climbed upwards using the intricate vines, although the two women were not as freakish as Cheng Feng.
But they came from a family with extensive learning, and going up mountains and down rivers was commonplace for them.
Soon the three of them arrived at the top of the banyan tree canopy.
Just as Cheng Feng remembered, there was the wreckage of an American C-47 transport plane from World War II.
"It's a transport plane, let's go inside and take a look."
Cheng Feng called out to the two women, then led the way toward the entrance where the transport plane had broken.
Stepping into the half-cabin, Cheng Feng saw several ammunition boxes placed to the side.
Knowing that it contained supplies and weapons sent by the US military to the expeditionary force during World War II,
After lifting a cover, inside were neatly stacked Thompson submachine guns, also known as Chicago typewriters.
"There are guns here. Pick two to use for self-defense, and I'll put the rest away."
Chen Wenjin and Huo Ling came forward, looking somewhat excited, and began to select submachine guns that were still usable.
People in this era could be said to be soldiers of the entire nation. Even if they had never used a submachine gun, they had definitely played with a Type 56 semi-automatic rifle.
Needless to say, the two girls, whose families had connections with the government, had learned about firearms from a very young age.
"Having a gun in my hand feels so different. No matter what kind of monster it is, I'll kill it with one burst!"
Huo Ling loaded the magazine onto the submachine gun with a serious air and said with great pride.
Unlike Huo Lingzhen, Chen Wenjin wasn't naive; she simply checked if the gun was usable.
He then began loading magazines into his pockets.
"Alright, put the rest away. These American submachine guns are hard to come by outside."
Seeing that the two women had chosen their weapons, Cheng Feng then activated his Ghost Eye and threw all the ammunition boxes into the Imaginary Space.
Fortunately, the fog was thick today, and the sunlight was completely blocked by the cabin and vegetation, otherwise I would have had to wait until night to use the Ghost Eye.
"There's nothing else here, let's go down!"
Chen Wenjin looked around and saw nothing but the pile of bones in the driver's seat.
Cheng Feng gestured for them to wait a moment, then walked to the driver's seat.
Standing in front of the control panel, now just a frame, looking towards the spot where the plane crashed.
Through some tiny cracks, Cheng Feng saw an unnatural blood-red color.
“There’s something inside this banyan tree. Come to me.”
Cheng Feng turned around and waved to the two women.
Upon hearing this, the two women rushed over, but just like before, they couldn't see what Cheng Feng was seeing at all.
"This banyan tree has been growing for who knows how many years. It won't be easy to split it open. If you have explosives, you could give it a try!"
Chen Wenjin offered his suggestions, but only based on the current intelligence.
Cheng Feng smiled and said, "Actually, there's no need to go to so much trouble. The transport plane has already taken care of the explosives."
As he spoke, Cheng Feng punched the wreckage of the plane next to him.
With a loud bang, the entire cabin shook, followed by a series of cracking sounds as half of the tree trunk began to collapse.
"Cheng Feng!"
Huo Ling cried out in surprise, the swaying cabin making her lose her balance.
Just as the two women were about to fall, Cheng Feng grabbed their arms and pulled them out of the driver's seat.
Just as they were about to fall from the tree, Cheng Feng grabbed the two women and used the branches to pull them down.
Soon, one side of the tree trunk cracked and crashed to the ground, while Cheng Feng and the other two landed lightly on a blood-red coffin.
The two women, still shaken, clung to Cheng Feng's arms, but gradually recovered once they felt their feet touch solid ground.
"Luckily I don't have a heart condition, or I would have died at your hands long ago!"
After getting off the red coffin, Huo Ling said with a hint of reproach.
Cheng Feng shrugged: "The fog here is too thick. I'm afraid there will be problems if you go down. It's better for you to stay by my side."
After thinking it over, the two women felt that Cheng Feng's words made sense; those who were close by were more likely to be hit.
It's easy to get lost in the fog if you're too far away, and Cheng Feng must have been confident to do this.
Seeing that the two women were no longer concerned about the matter, Cheng Feng placed one hand on the coffin lid.
"I'm going to open the coffin. You all stand behind me."
Once they stepped back, Cheng Feng forcefully lifted the coffin lid and flew out.
The three looked into the coffin and saw that it was filled with a blood-red liquid, but there was no smell of blood.
On the contrary, it is somewhat similar to Cheng Feng's blood, both having a strange medicinal fragrance.
"Cheng Feng, are you related to any of these guys in here?"
Chen Wenjin looked at Cheng Feng with a teasing expression. This girl was indeed composed, but she would always stab Cheng Feng in the back unexpectedly.
"Who knows? Just ask him yourself when he comes out!"
At this moment, the red liquid inside the coffin rippled, and a corpse floated to the surface.
"Look, he's out."
Cheng Feng pointed at the corpse with amusement and winked at Chen Wenjin.
Chen Wenjin pursed her thin red lips, then casually stepped forward to examine the corpse closely.
It was dressed in a magnificent gold-threaded robe, had a crown on its head, and its face was covered by a golden mask.
He placed his hands on his abdomen, holding a short staff made of dragon and tiger.
“Cheng Feng, this person is definitely related to you. The fleshy growths on your snake heads are exactly the same as the pattern on this mask.”
Chen Wenjin noticed the pattern of the Muchen Pearl on the mask worn by the high priest and quickly associated it with the Pure Vision Agama.
"It really is true. Could it be that the ancient Dian Kingdom once established diplomatic relations with the Jingjue Kingdom?"
Huo Ling made a very bold guess.
Cheng Feng noticed their guesses were getting increasingly outlandish, so he quickly said, "Stop guessing! Let's put the mask and the staff away first."
"If you want to hear the story, wait until we're safe!"
