Chapter 201 The Magical City of Pierpont, Part 2
Chapter 201 The Magical City of Pierpont, Part 2
Finally, after passing through the crowded Magic Street where it was difficult to stop, Elena and Jean finally arrived at a relatively open space.
The so-called relatively open space simply means that you are finally free from being forced to follow the crowd. On that main street, it was difficult to even stop, but here, you can finally have an open space where you can stand still without obstructing others from walking around.
If a magic street like this were to appear in other kingdoms, stampedes would be inevitable.
But Pierpont seems to have cast a special field spell in this place, so you can't fall down at all. If you have even the slightest tendency to fall, the magic will straighten you up.
Elena unfolded the travel guide and began to examine it.
She had prepared a perfect itinerary before coming, but the sheer number of travelers here still caught her off guard.
It's hard to imagine how the residents who live here can get a good rest every day, having to endure such a noisy environment. They must have installed soundproofing magic beforehand.
But this will always bring inconvenience. After all, soundproofing magic blocks out all sounds, and people would go crazy if they stayed in a completely quiet place.
Elena carefully looked at the next stop.
Forget about hotels; there are absolutely no rooms available for a temporary visitor like myself. Apparently, you have to book six months in advance to get a room.
To solve the accommodation problem, I'll have to ask the Magic Integration Association for help. After all, I'm a witch, and although I'm not a member of the association, there are always special benefits reserved for me within the association, so accommodation shouldn't be a problem. But don't expect the conditions to be too good.
"Is there anywhere you'd like to go?" Elena tried to get Qin's opinion, even though she probably already knew the answer.
"casual."
I knew it.
Elena carefully put away the travel guide; she had her own plans.
When you come to Pierpoint, there is one place you absolutely must visit, not the Magic Street, but the holy site of magical history—the Museum of Magical Gothsana.
This place houses a collection of memorable magical artifacts dating back to the origins of magic, and introduces various aspects of magical history.
The only downside is that there will definitely be a lot of people, but that's something that can't be helped.
The museum is named after Godesana in honor of her, one of the Twelve Apostles and a member of the Primordial Witches. As the Witch of Curiosities, she amassed countless rare and exotic treasures from around the world throughout her life. After her death, this ultimate collector donated all her wealth to the museum.
Even today, at least one-tenth of the museum's collection comes from this great witch who died thousands of years ago, which shows how precious the treasures she left behind are.
Elena swore that she absolutely did not envy such a witch.
She simply hoped that one in a thousand of that great man's wealth would one day be attainable.
Perhaps she herself never imagined that she would one day build a museum that would surpass even the Museum of Magic at Goddessana hundreds of years in the future.
"Dear visitor, the museum is fully booked for today. Would you like to make a reservation in advance?" When Elena arrived at the museum, she was stopped by the security magician at the entrance.
Do I need to make an appointment here? It wasn't mentioned in the manual.
Elena then flipped through the travel guide again.
“Miss, your manual appears to be a three-year-old version,” the security guard said.
three years ago?
I actually got scammed by that guy from the neighboring country who sells manuals.
Do I have a negative buff that makes me easily deceived?
"Would you like me to get you another one? It only costs one gold coin."
There's a limit to how much you're going to fleece me, isn't there? One gold coin?
"When can I book an appointment now?" Elena avoided the sore topic.
"About two weeks later," the security guard said. "I'm not entirely sure; you'd have to ask someone higher up. But it'll take at least two weeks, considering it's peak tourist season."
hateful.
Elena turned and left.
I can't stand staying here for half a month; a week at most.
But thinking about it for a moment, I realized that if this museum is already like this, other famous tourist attractions are probably in the same boat. Never mind that for now, let's think about accommodation first. I'll go check out the headquarters of the Magic Integration Association.
Fortunately, even though the travel guidebook is outdated in many places due to the times, the map of Pierpoint is correct.
After all, you can't make a large-scale change in the entire landscape in three years.
And so we traversed all sorts of winding, rugged paths.
"Hey—you over there, stop." But Elena was stopped before she could take more than a few steps.
She was stopped by a magician security guard in a special uniform.
“How could you wander around like that? Don’t you know that this place is under a special magical restriction? This road is reserved for certain special personnel. Without permission, you could be injured or even killed,” the mage said. Then she noticed the witch brooch on Elena’s chest. “Even a witch risks death when facing this restriction set up by the guild master.”
How was I supposed to know this place was off-limits?
Elena muttered something as she left.
"You didn't know?" the magician asked incredulously. "I remember there were brochures sold at the kingdom's gate, and they definitely emphasized the importance of these brochures. Besides, look around, there's no one here, so you should know you can't just wander around like this."
I thought I didn't need to buy it again just because I'd already bought it. Who knew that damned profiteer...
You get what you pay for.
In the end, Elena handed over a gold coin to buy a brand new version of the travel guide.
It's worth mentioning that the manuals sold at the entrance cost only five silver coins, but the price doubled once you entered the city.
The travel guide also stated that the place was off-limits to unauthorized personnel, but the magical restriction would at most paralyze you; it would never kill you—it was all an exaggeration by the security guard, just to fool someone as easily fooled as himself.
Just think about it, if you casually set up a restriction, someone could die. How big of a responsibility is that? What if someone else accidentally breaks through it?
I can't believe I didn't see through the lie at the time.
So stupid.
I finally understand why I spend money like water.
"Why didn't you remind me?" Elena asked Qin.
"You said you wouldn't bother me until I reached my daily spending limit," Qin said honestly.
Elena touched her forehead in pain: "My amazing human-machine boyfriend."
