Magical Journey: The Other Shore Blooms on the Other Shore

Chapter 116 The Fool's Puzzle, Part 6

Chapter 116 The Fool's Puzzle, Part 6

If the plan had gone smoothly, there should have been news by now, or at least some activity that I would have been informed of.

As night fell, Qin sat listlessly on a tree branch outside the city gate of the Land of Things, staring blankly at the scene inside the city, just as she did every day.

"You use my power when you want to, and don't use it when you don't want to. Do you really think there's such a good thing in the world?" A resentful and mocking voice said in Qin's mind. "What's the difference between humans and demons? As long as you're human, you'll keep moving towards becoming a demon."

Druids are usually quite talkative, but most of the time the harp can easily filter out their incessant chatter. It's only when they're overusing magic and their sanity is about to crumble that the noise becomes particularly intense.

“Many times, I feel that becoming a demon is a bad thing,” Jean replied, unusually responding to what the druid had said.

In fact, they've known and been together for so many years, and Qin has only spoken a handful of times. Therefore, this matter is...

That's really rare.

"So, you're no longer opposed to becoming a demon?" The druid sensed something unusual; this was something that, to Him, could...

That's a good sign.

"No, although I can't accept many of your views," Qin said calmly, "but there's one thing you said that I think is very true."

"Oh?"

"Humans or demons—they are all slaves to the desire to achieve their goals by any means necessary," Qin said. "Many times I felt that I had no desires and no wants anymore—but I don't know when I realized that I was wrong."

Qin leaped high from the tree branch and landed smoothly from a height of about ten meters.

“I think I also have desires. Although I don’t understand emotions, at least right now, I think there’s something I want to do.” Qin slightly raised her fist backward and gathered her strength. “Although I don’t know if this counts as valuable, I want to do it, and that’s enough.”

A heavy punch slammed into the gates of the Kingdom of Items, sending an unimaginable explosive force hurtling through the air.

In less than half a second, the seemingly sturdy city gate was smashed several meters away by the zither, along with the gate frame.

"Perhaps I have a knack for demolition." Qin shook her hand and slowly walked into the so-called kingdom of items.

You mean the plan?

If that thing worked, there would be no need to come in at this moment—from the moment the broom failed, Qin already knew that any opportunistic plan would be useless, at least he no longer wanted to think about that possible plan.

Since it's bound to be discovered sooner or later anyway, let's fast forward the process.

As the powerful sound of the zither burst in, the whole city seemed to be startled awake by a kitten, its fur standing on end.

……

"Report...report...a human has broken through the city gate and rushed in." A cardboard box hopped and skipped into the conference room in a panic.

"What did you say? Humans? They broke in?" The book seemed completely incredulous at this upside-down thing—that someone would actually force their way into the kingdom of this object.

"Yes, the gatekeeper who was knocked away hit me right where I was looking at the scenery—my little notebook, you have to stand up for me."

(City Gate: I was just taking a nap, and here I am? Is this still in China?)

“Magic—unleash our magic on him—” the book cried hysterically. “What does he have to fear, even if an entire legion comes? Under our holy light, all humanity is a prisoner of our possessions.”

As if receiving instructions, all the objects began to converge on the piano in an endless stream, and the lead doll began to emit an eerie white light from its chest towards the piano.

He thought that once Qin was hit by his infallible magic, she would fall into their clutches and become their slave, but Qin seemed completely unaffected as she bathed in the light.

"A monster!" The numerous items finally began to panic.

They have no fighting power whatsoever; their previously invincible magic has become ineffective.

This isn't human, it's a monster!

"A mob." Qin danced with swordplay, and the puppets that couldn't escape in time were reduced to pieces.

Seeing their comrades reduced to an irreparable state, the remaining items, unable to withstand their collapsing hearts, crumbled and fled in utter defeat.

Many items are simply trampled and broken by other items that are also items.

"Did I overestimate my opponent?" Qin showed no excitement; he simply had no emotions at all. But he wasn't at ease, because if things were really that simple, the broom would have succeeded long ago.

He took a few more steps.

They discovered that the dilapidated items were no longer dilapidated, but instead began to be arranged in an orderly manner.

"So it was you... who invaded our kingdom?" In the sky, a giant humanoid figure began to materialize, and numerous objects, as if finding their anchor, rushed towards the giant.

Some items, like the tables, formed the giant's feet, while others, such as the numerous shovels, formed the giant's hands.

The giant that was assembled was probably formed from the magical power of the items that were previously combined, which reached a critical point and gained the special ability to speak human language.

"A kingdom is a kingdom because it has people—and what are you?" Jean drew her sword and slashed, severing the giant's newly assembled leg.

"Don't we things deserve our own kingdom?" The giant didn't fall; the leg that the harp had just severed was quickly replenished with a steady stream of items. "Greedy humans, not only do you abandon us at will, but you also trample on the value of our existence?"

The giant object swung its massive fist toward the harp.

There was a bit of trouble. Qin smashed the giant fist that was coming at him with a punch. All the iron shovels that made up the fist were knocked off course by Qin. Qin stood there as if nothing had happened, his hand bleeding profusely, but he didn't care at all.

"Value? When did you—have any value that surpasses that of others?" A purple flame, like that of hell, began to ignite around Qin. "Who bestows it? And how is it defined?"

The flames seemed to be possessed, igniting everything around them, even the unburnt stones began to burn fiercely.

"What is this?" The giant tried to shake off the fire on his body.

But it found that it couldn't do it at all. It had no pain, but it found that its consciousness was gradually fading away.

The fires, however, grew larger and larger, showing no sign of going out.

"This is—fire that burns magic! How wicked you are." It doesn't burn physical form, but rather magic, using magic as fuel to burn continuously.

The Burning Demon Fire—those objects gain consciousness by being imbued with magic. When all the magic in them is exhausted by this flame as fuel, they will return to being the most ordinary objects.

Perhaps they'll just be lucky enough to turn into ashes.
