Chapter 126 Constantine's Favorite Thing: Shifting Blame

"Run!"

Constantine turned and ran, a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his mouth. Then, he crashed into a golden wall. His left hand reflexively flung out a handful of sulfur powder mixed with holy salt—a purely instinctive reaction born from years of street brawling.

Doctor Fate's avatar's helmet didn't even shake. Anka's cross staff pointed forward, and sulfur powder condensed in mid-air into ancient Babylonian debt terms, densely appearing before Constantine's eyes.

Nabu shouted, "Helping an evil person escape punishment is punishable by having their tongue cut out!"

"Damn it!" Constantine spat out the cigarette from his mouth in anger. He tore a piece of parchment from the lining of his trench coat, slammed it on the ground, and instantly summoned a portal. He casually asked the raven who was attempting to cast a spell, "Did your teacher teach you how to project magic?"

The raven nodded. Then Constantine shouted, "Then release them all! Release as many as you can!"

The next second, the demons emerging from the portal collided head-on with a power far exceeding their own. Instantly, the safe house transformed into a distorted carnival. The demons' once hunched spines pierced their skin like wildly growing crystal veins. Unstable streams of magical flames erupted from every crevice, and some demons even had forked structures sprouting from their horns, resembling deformed crowns, their tips shimmering with fragments of plundered purple power.

Their skin constantly cycles between burning and regeneration, revealing a writhing second layer of muscle beneath—a pseudo-tissue composed of pure energy. As the wounds regenerate, they secrete a viscous, blackish-gold pus that transforms into tiny demonic larvae upon landing.

The powerful corrosive force of the Sangoku magic caused their eyes to proliferate, and their mouths to tear vertically to their ears, revealing sharp teeth. The battlefield ground was automatically etched with inverted cross totems, but this was not a deliberate act of faith; it was purely a distortion of reality caused by energy overload.

"Constantine!" The helmet of Doctor Fate's avatar, hovering in the air, emitted an unprecedentedly blinding light. The flowing wedge-shaped runes were no longer decorations, but living chains, dancing wildly around him.

Like a herd of enraged snakes.

He drew an Anka Cross with his left hand, and time within a five-kilometer radius of the battlefield suddenly reversed. The evolved demons began to degenerate, their flesh and blood twisting back, their bones shrinking, as if someone had pressed the rewind button on the universe. But a few remaining demons resisted his spacetime magic.

Thus, the high-ranking demons here had the honor of experiencing the judgment of order. They were placed on a massive scale to be weighed for their sins. In the end, they died in a rather painful manner.

Their skin revealed golden ratio spiral patterns, each curve tightening and compressing their bodies into standard polyhedra conforming to geometric aesthetics. Their roaring mouths were stitched together by an invisible force into the shape of a Latin cross, and ultimately, even their very existence was obliterated.

After dealing with all the demons, the clone looked around, but Constantine and the raven were nowhere to be seen.

An unnamed alleyway in London

Constantine's back was already pressed against the edge of the wall. His trench coat was torn to shreds by the furious attack from Doctor Fate's clone, and blood mixed with nicotine was seeping from the golden wound on his left arm. But at least they had shaken off those clones.

Constantine lit another cigarette, then gave the raven beside him a mischievous grin: "So, am I reliable or not?"

"But my teacher can go toe-to-toe with Doctor Fate."

The raven looked the weathered man up and down suspiciously, and the suspicion in its eyes infuriated the demon warlock.

"Hey, that guy isn't someone an ordinary person can handle. His power is simply outrageous!" Constantine held up a finger and shook it slightly, as if emphasizing something important: "Doctor Fate isn't some ordinary magician. He can manipulate the threads of fate like playing with a toy. He can easily rewrite the past, reshape the future, and even make the entire universe operate according to his will."

His power was so great that even the gods had to be wary of him!

Constantine deliberately lowered his voice, his tone laced with mystery and exaggeration: "You can't imagine how easily he can reverse time, resurrect the dead, and cause the strong to fall. Every thought of his can cause the universe to tremble. His power is simply boundless and omnipresent."

He paused, a hint of smugness flashing in his eyes, as if enjoying his performance: "But I, Constantine, successfully escaped with—" Constantine glanced at the little guy, adding, "Well, escaped with a little burden, isn't that impressive enough?"

"..."

The raven, who had just played a crucial role in Constantine's escape, remained silent for a moment before asking:

Is he really that amazing?

"There is some exaggeration, but some of it is true."

The moment the sound rang out, the silk cigarette that Constantine had just lit fell from the corner of his mouth.

Doctor Fate—not an avatar, but the real Doctor—stood three steps away. Anka's cross-shaped staff lightly tapped the ground, and the surrounding reality distorted like an old-fashioned television signal, before the surrounding space was instantly locked.

Constantine grinned. "Oh, so you've finally decided to show up in person? Or have you finally realized that your clones can't catch me, you damned old fogey?"

Doctor Fate's helmet tilted slightly, blue light seeping from the visor as if scanning a flawed lie: "You didn't just steal the raven, John! You even tried to unleash powerful demons to wreak havoc on the world!"

"Come on, why would I do this without you?"

Raven stood behind Constantine, dark purple magic swirling around the tip of her wand, but she didn't move—she knew that if this guy was really as strong as he claimed, then facing Doctor Fate in person would be tantamount to suicide.

Constantine sighed helplessly, pulling a crumpled contract from the inside pocket of his trench coat—Lucifer's signature was still faintly glowing on it: "I didn't want to use this trick, but this is something I got from Satan after I had sex with his ass once—"

Then, the guy gave the raven a helpless laugh and said, "Damn it, your teacher's going to be bleeding money this time..."

He bit his finger, trying to stain the paper with his blood, but unfortunately, Constantine was not yet entangled by the countless golden threads, looking like a giant golden cocoon.

"You think I didn't foresee you going to him?" Doctor Fate's voice carried a hint of weariness for the first time, as if he were tired of the chase. Lucifer's contract—from the very beginning, Naboo had factored it into the variables. Clearly, even Satan couldn't completely escape his foresight.

"FXXK!"
