Chapter 110: How Attractive Horcruxes Were to Chad Kang

"I need an item that can suppress the magic within her," Rune said. Constantine, who had a large bump on his head, nodded quickly, then took out a monocle with a gold metal ring and put it on. He looked at Raven, then took off the monocle and took a deep breath.

"Big brother—no, sir!" He clasped his hands together and waved them at Rune a few times. "If you want to kill me, just say so. I didn't say you couldn't!"

When he looked at the raven through his glasses, the immense magical power it exuded instantly made him break out in a cold sweat. And most importantly, the evil aura emanating from this magic was comparable to that of the demons in Hell.

Hearing this, Raven was somewhat disappointed. But Rune had dealt with Constantine several times and knew how cunning he was. So, Rune tossed out a few pages of paper he had prepared beforehand: "Take a look at this, is it enough?"

Constantine sighed and took the papers from Rune's hand. He had been leaning back on the sofa, feet propped up on the coffee table, casually holding the papers, his gaze lazily wandering between the words. However, a line of text suddenly caught his eye...

As if struck by some invisible force, his movements froze instantly. His previous languid expression quickly faded, replaced by a focused and urgent one.

He slowly lowered his feet, leaned forward slightly, placed the paper on his knees, and gripped the sides of the paper tightly with both hands, afraid of missing a single word. His breathing became light and rapid, and his eyes darted quickly between the words. But he finished reading the few pages in no time, and he tried in vain to turn the pages over, hoping to see more, but in the end, he was disappointed.

"And then, and then?" Constantine asked anxiously. When he turned his gaze to Rune's face, the ambiguous smile on his face made Constantine slump onto the sofa. "Alright, alright, I'll try, but you have to tell me why this little girl's dark magic is so strong, right? I need to find the right remedy!"

Rune gave a malicious smile, coughed to clear his throat, and then introduced in a solemn tone: "Before you is the first of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Fearful Blackbird, and the prized daughter of the Trinity—Raven."

The next moment, Constantine activated his sprint and dashed out the door, leaving behind a bewildered Raven and a completely unperturbed Rune.

"How come I didn't know I had so many titles?" Raven asked after a while, having only learned her father's name from Rune. "And why don't you go after him?"

Rune smiled and said, "Don't worry about the details. That man won't run away. He's probably just doing this to get more benefits."

As he spoke, he looked directly at the raven: "The reason I was so sure he would come back was because I offered him a condition he couldn't refuse. This is also the first lesson I'm going to teach you: if you want someone to help you, you have to understand their temperament and know their preferences."

To deal with a good person, you just need to add a "please" to the end of the sentence, but for this man—"

"Meeting you was the worst thing that ever happened to me!" Constantine flipped back in through the window, rolling his eyes as he did so.

Rune snorted coldly. This cunning fellow was clearly trying to rip him off. Unlike the Fate Master, Lady of Shangdu, and Zatanna, Constantine's magic was entirely self-taught. The former two were living fossils of the magical world, their foundations far surpassing Constantine's; and the latter came from a family of magicians, so acquiring magical spells was never a problem for him.

So what about Constantine? He's a typical "first-generation demon." He still remembers his first spellcasting attempt, when he tried to curse his father with witchcraft, but it was just a fit of anger—he never expected the spell to actually work. Afterward, he started hanging out with frivolous people like magic enthusiasts and rock bands, trying to acquire some new spells.

At this moment, Constantine faced a ritual magic called a "Hornet." This thing could tear apart one's own soul and seal the fragments of the soul into an object. Even though the process of creating a Hornet would not only cause great damage to the caster's mind and body, but also shatter their soul, Constantine didn't care about that.

Constantine's excessive use of spells had left him with an insurmountable debt, and those creditors were no pushovers. Horcruxes could allow him to evade these creditors, and even, if used correctly, clear his debts. Therefore, upon first witnessing this magic, Constantine unusually lost his composure, revealing his desire for it, and naturally found himself at a disadvantage in their initial exchange.

But it didn't matter. As Rune continued to introduce the raven, he pretended to be scared and ran away, hoping Rune would offer more chips.

Unfortunately, Rune didn't fall for it.

"Give me a straight answer, can you do it or not? If you can't, I'll just find someone else." Rune crossed his legs, leisurely watching the man scratch his head in frustration, thoroughly enjoying himself. Perhaps out of a wicked sense of humor, he deliberately added, "You should know I can contact Lady Shangdu or Doctor Fate, right?"

"Hmph! Doctor Fate would kill Raven the moment he sees her!" Constantine said unhappily, though Lady Utah might indeed help Raven suppress the dark magic within her.

Rune shook his head: "Doctor Fate? He wouldn't dare kill the daughter of the Three Palaces."

Seeing Constantine's disbelief, Rune offered no explanation. At this time, the Fate Master was still the revered Guardian of Order in the magical world. In the magical world, his status and prestige were comparable to, or even surpassed, Superman's reputation among mortals in the Justice League.

Finally, Constantine could only sigh, "Alright, alright, you win. I happen to have a talisman that can suppress the dark magic on her."

Well, although Constantine is just a "first-generation demon," he actually possesses quite a few artifacts, such as the heart of a certain archangel and the spear that kills gods—all thanks to his deception.

Moreover, Constantine's greatest strength is not magic, but understanding people's hearts, so he has a group of friends who, even after being tricked many times, still follow him wholeheartedly.

"Don't give me any cheap, disposable stuff," Rune shouted a warning. "What if she has a nightmare one day and her props are broken—"

Constantine paused as he rummaged through the props.

"Then you will have to face that Demon King, my friend."

"FXXK!"

A moment later, Constantine brought over a scarab beetle-shaped necklace: "Here! Now give me the complete spell!"

The raven, however, asked inappropriately, "But didn't you say you wanted an amulet? How come it's a necklace now?"
